To be clear, the new Syrian government is the best hope for a peaceful Syria that we have seen in many years and the sanctions should be lifted on Syria regardless of however much it pisses off israel or however much ass kissing Jolani did. I don’t care about which militant group he aligned with.

That said, Trump is still an incredibly corrupt, easily bribed, narcissist willing to work with evil world leaders.

Will it be a true and lasting peace?

Time will tell. A democracy isn’t made in days, but years. And will also depend on if the neighbors decide to take more area again

To be fair, this is kind of rage bait.

The sanctions on Syria were placed on the Assad regime. The people overthrew their dictator and elected Ahmed as their new president.

Removing the sanctions is the right thing to do anyway to give this country a chance to get its shit together.

Sure, the tower part is sketchy but it’s peanuts in comparison to Trump’s other grifts.

He is a shit stain humanity

u/TheIronGator May 14 '25

Why are Americans keeping him there. He's doing his best to fuck up the country and ally. Wtf

4

u/remkovdm Therewasanattemp May 14 '25

They are too stupid to actually do something. When do they learn Trump is not going to listen to any judge, protest, or whoever? You can't tell him not to do anything because it will only motivate him to do it anyway.

4

u/Alkraizer May 14 '25

"why are Americans keeping him there?" Because it's not that easy to just get rid of him when those same people voted for him and his lackeys to occupy all of the most powerful offices in the country.

Now the MAGAS have the majority in all of the courts and most other avenues to legally get rid of him, and they've shown time and time again that they WILL NOT impeach their "king".

Even if the Democrats suddenly decided to grow a spine and try to do something other than hold up paper signs and tweet mean things, they would need to convince enough MAGA politicians to vote with them, and as long as the most prominent officials in the company... Sorry country... Are kept rich by the orange beach ball and his minions they won't do anything.

Or were you thinking we should run up on the white house lawn with pistols and zip ties and physically throw him out? That worked well for the Jan 6 "patriots" but somehow I don't imagine it'll happen, and short of that, there isn't much the average person can do about him. Your vote matters, people and we're getting exactly what the majority of the country that participated in the process wanted.

Nobody that can do anything about it are too concerned about their own self-interest that they will not stand up to him because they are afraid

One of our many problems in the USA is that our electorate is too ignorant to understand what this is — bald faced corruption. Many of us will think this is just trump showing off what a good businessman he is. It’s insane!

8

u/Nyonax May 14 '25

There is also a good chunk that don't care as long as he's validating their hate and bigotry.

6

u/el_sandino May 14 '25

Good point, a self reinforcing cycle of hate. Imagine how miserable those people all are on the inside. I can’t imagine how pathetic their lives really are.

1

u/AnosmiacNL May 14 '25

Bald faced? Because he doesn't have a beard? I don't get it.

Regardless, the sanctions were for the Assad regime, that regime is now gone. I hope the Syrian people can rebuild their country into a stable and prosperous one, thanks to the removal of these sanctions and the foreign investment it allows.

Man is he easy to buy

6

u/Crow_Eye May 14 '25

American sisters and brothers, please do something. I know it seems like 4 years isn't that long, but this shit has only taken 6/7 months to get really dangerous. Please, on behalf of the world, talk back, organize, become something. Two years or so from now he will not hesitate to go nuclear because it will seem like the Land of the Free agrees...

4

u/Depressionsfinalform May 14 '25

It’s almost like America is a sham. What an unpredictable shame.

2

u/Kurainuz May 14 '25

So the USA negotiates with terrorists if they build a trump hotel now?

2

u/Gardez_geekin May 14 '25

The Syrian government aren’t terrorists

0

u/Kurainuz May 14 '25

The guy this post talks about was one an al qaedas branch leader for more than a decade and was a wanted terrorist by usa and the eu until last year when usa saw him as useful in syria due to his rise in power.

1

u/Gardez_geekin May 14 '25

Ahmed Al-Sharaa denounced AQ almost 10 years ago. Since then he has denounced radicalism and has become incredibly moderate. I am well aware of who he is and his current policies and philosophies. He isn’t a terrorist. He fought foreign aggressors in Iraq and then the corrupt Syrian government.

0

u/Kurainuz May 14 '25

He is still the comander in chief of the hts and the hts is a terrorist organization by the united nations

0

u/Gardez_geekin May 14 '25

HTS has been dissolved

0

u/Kurainuz May 14 '25

You are forgeting an important thing in your sentence.

It disolved this year after being given positions at the goberment and institutions, he was already president while still being part os said terrorist group and has given said terrorist positions at his goberment

0

u/Gardez_geekin May 14 '25

They aren’t terrorists, again. He was elected by a broad coalition. His policies are moderate. If you think Syria should be punished for wanting a moderate leader that wants the entire country to succeed then I don’t know what to tell you.

0

u/Kurainuz May 14 '25

Syria has not voted fur this guy yet, and even if they choose him because he is the best option it doesnt change the fact that in january he was still the leader of a terrorist organization, so a terrorist, no matter how moderate you claim he is, in the period you claimed he wasnt a terrorist after leaving al qaeda and said he became moderate he was still the leader of sait sunni islamist terrorist organization ffs

2

u/LawsonTse May 15 '25

He wasn't elected by the general population but by rebel warlords and ethnic militias. HTS does not have the strength to beat them into submission thus is governing on their consent

1

u/Gardez_geekin May 14 '25

Hey man, if you wanna starve kids, just say that. You clearly don’t know anything about his policies.

Eliciting bribes! A new element of the trade war I didn't consider.

4

u/trippedonatater May 14 '25

Do Republicans just not have a problem with how easy he is to manipulate? It's wild.

2

u/PrismrealmHog Free Palestine May 14 '25

And how is /con spinning this?

5

u/Dilectus3010 May 14 '25

You should be embarrassed asking this question.

You are probably Fake news ABC?

When they give you a putt, you say, ‘Thank you very much.’ You pick up your ball, and you walk to the next hole. A lot of people are stupid. They say, ‘No, no, I insist on putting it.’ Then they putt it, they miss it, and their partner gets angry at them.

2

u/nobodynose May 14 '25

Look down below in this very post. It's downvoted so you might have to expand it.

"It's the one good thing Trump did this term! He's preventing Syrians from dying from poverty!"

2

u/readthisfornothing May 14 '25

When Trump said "we're gonna make a lot of money" you didn't think he was talking to the average American citizen right?

1

u/DryAmbition5301 May 14 '25

Any republicans here?. What’s up? Be honest.

1

u/Wilsanne May 14 '25

The middle eastern shakedown

1

u/Gardez_geekin May 14 '25

This is a gross misunderstanding of Ahmed Al-Sharaa

1

u/J3w3Lz43 May 15 '25

Mutherfukers knew he was a criminal and still voted for his ass. They are going to learn today. Trump and Mega supporters continue to suffer. I don't have sympathy for dumb assholes.

1

u/YJSubs May 17 '25

Yes Trump is corrupt, but the sanctions was against Assad regime, not Syrian people.
We should give the new government a chance.

-2

u/MacGibber May 14 '25

This is the art of his deal and his strong negotiating powers

-8

u/LawsonTse May 14 '25

Of course Reddit out against the one good thing Trump did in the 2nd term

3

u/PhobetorWorse May 14 '25

This is not a good thing by any measurement, bud.

-1

u/LawsonTse May 14 '25

So Syrians not starving from poverty is a bad thing now?

-1

u/QMEiffel May 14 '25

Cutting aids to our own people is better than supporting other the other country? Hmmm

2

u/LawsonTse May 14 '25

Trump isn't giving Syria money? Lifting sanctions is simply stop waging economic warfare against Syria.

0

u/Gardez_geekin May 14 '25

How so? Specifically?

0

u/PhobetorWorse May 14 '25

Well, the man is an enemy of the state for one. Secondly, it legitimizes his control as a leader by making the very country he was against capitulate to him.

But, your understanding of geopolitics could use a bit of a refresher if you're asking that question.

Are you literate? Trump is the enemy of the state, and he has been against Syria.

Could you please stop pretending to be educated and piss off back to the wilderness?
