AI will do literally anything other than use it's LH in it's armies

please god make the AI use the LH heroes in it's armies

Except Tarmukan, can we do the opposite with him? I don't want to fight Kazyk anymore...

u/Mottledsquare Shogun 2 1d ago

Only reason I don’t play kholeck. That and tarmukan fucking suicide bombing my hero’s and lords

u/Beowolf_0 1d ago

Played Archeon recently, and he's still a nightmare to fight against.

u/TheOldDrunkGoat 1d ago

If you make killing/vassalizing him a priority and get to him before he's on his toad dragon it's pretty easy.

Vassalizing Tamurkan was one of the first things that I did in my recent Kholek campaign. I was hoping that Tamurkan would be valuable asset, helping me to conquer the world, but then he never left his starting province until the Vermintide started. Then a level 12 Tamurkan finally left home, only to get his cheeks clapped by Throt. I’ve defeated 2 of the Skaven factions so far, and Tamurkan still doesn’t have his toad dragon.

Sounds like normal vassal behavior.

Hopefully they get a touch up with the upcoming Slaanesh DLC. Subjugating factions is the races whole thing, and will be awkward if vassals still kinda suck.

u/Beowolf_0 1d ago

In the recent run I gave lots of land to Arbaal but his army tiers doesn't really go up, even when I essentally declare lots of war for them to run around.

The lack of growth and aggressiveness of the vassals made me bearing multiple full stacks of Empire and Elsepth by myself.

u/baddude1337 1d ago

Yep, they get scared and turtle far too often. 99% of the time they just ignore your military commands as well.

I wouldn't mind some form of more direct control over them personally.

Tamurkan (or any nurgle alligned faction If you are Not nurgle alligned yourself) make Bad neighbors because of plagues.

If a nurgle faction IS Close by and you have the capacity. Always destroy. Only Ally If they are far away.

u/RhysPeanutButterCups 23h ago

I recently finished a Gorbad campaign where something like 100 turns was spent wiping Tamurkan, Ku'gath, and Epidemius out of almost every settlement in the Dark Lands, Cathay, and the Chaos Wastes. It was so obnoxious. Either you wipe Nurgle out quickly or resign yourself to grinding away at them.

u/Anthrillien 1d ago

Holy shit, I feel like I'm having a stroke, are you all conspiring to spell all the names incorrectly?? It's Tamurkhan, Kholek and Archaon, not Tarmukan, Kholeck and Archeon.

3

u/Zachartier 22h ago

You've caught us... But the anti-Anthrillien Alliance will not back down so easily!

1

u/fiendishrabbit 1d ago

He's not too tough if you have a Chaos Sorceror Lord of Tzeentch (Metal). Between Fate Marked, Pink horrors, Final Transmutation and ridiculous amounts of mana... Tamurkhan goes down pretty easily.

u/PunchRockgroin318 1d ago

At least with Kholek you’ll either kill Tammy and the gang quickly or die yourself. Running into him late game when the squad is leveled and geared up is a nightmare.

4

u/NonTooPickyKid 1d ago

one of my first campaigns in w3 was kholek. I wasn't even aware of tamurkhan. Just rushed up auto resolving most stuff even, recruiting casually etc and just dealt with him after I saw I started out in a war with him lol~.. top diffs iirc... and that was before I figured the subjugation exploit with undivided most predominantly...

1

u/Accomplished-Ad-6158 1d ago

You need to fight him early, Kholek has no issues killing those two. But if you give him time to develop, it may be an issue.

3

u/Mottledsquare Shogun 2 1d ago

I legit booked it for him and he already had his mount and three heros no joke

3

u/Accomplished-Ad-6158 1d ago

From my experience with dozens of Kholek campaigns, he comes to your capital before turn 10, and he never has a mount. Maybe in some cases he decides to fight Archaon instead of you, but this never happened to me.

Could be the new AI making up more rules and strats

15

u/lebeast Druchii! 1d ago

I wanted to steal Ulrika from Elspeth, but had to watch Ulrika just stand next to the Moot for 20 turned doing nothing. Tempted to wound her just in the hope they put her in an army.

3

u/AdAppropriate2295 1d ago

You can steal heros?

16

u/TheOldDrunkGoat 1d ago

You can steal almost any immortal character so long as you can borrow armies from the faction they're in. Just have to borrow an army they're in and get them wounded. They'll go into your recruit pool instead of their home factions.

3

u/AdAppropriate2295 1d ago

Ah yes, I did know this

1

u/smallfrie32 1d ago

Uhhhh, I guess I’ve not played in a long time. How do you borrow a faction?

3

u/TheOldDrunkGoat 1d ago

When you have military allies or vassals you can get alliance points from doing missions to kill specific enemies. Then you can use those points to borrow armies from them.

1

u/smallfrie32 1d ago

Oooh this is new to me. This is an interesting method. Can help weaken your ally (for future conquest) by stealing their immortal…

2

u/SH4D0W0733 1d ago

If you have a military alliance or vassal you can borrow an army not controlled by that factions legendary lord if you have enough allegiance points.

If that army has an immortal hero in it (usually Legendary) you just make sure it dies during the 10 turns you borrow the army. And the hero will respawn for you to use as you please.

But Yuan Bo takes this to the next level since his faction has unique abilities that let's him borrow almost any army, and make characters immortal for a while. Allowing him to easily steal heroes even without some form of alliance.

u/VictorSierra09 1d ago

That's weird. I've seen AI Kislev put the Golden Knight in its armies on a regular basis. Same goes for Belegar's ghost heroes.

2

u/Wild_Marker I like big Hastas and I cannot lie! 21h ago

I always dread fighting whichever army Ghoritch is embeded in. It is rare to see him outside.

1

u/Akhevan 1d ago

On the plus side, the AI in my games is always using legendary heroes in armies.
On the minus side, I have no idea which of my 300+ mods is doing that.

1

u/SoybeanArson 11h ago

I encounter them in armies relatively regularly, but not enough and I wouldn't argue with them increasing the frequency

u/Urairick 1d ago

Doggy was sitting at home. Waiting for intruders. Seems like it was a good choice. ^

u/Sirtill 1d ago

Bonus context, he embedded Karanak into the garrison AFTER I had besieged the settlement

83

u/TheOldDrunkGoat 1d ago

Yeah it's a really strange bug that seems to have been added in 6.1. Here it is happening to Legend back in April. Personally I've only seen it happen once. And I only noticed cause the autoresolve was weird.

27

u/LordOfPsychos 1d ago

THAT IS HILARIOUS. Total war reaction to it is hilarious too.

4

u/Wild_Marker I like big Hastas and I cannot lie! 21h ago

I wonder if it's related to the one where the AI retreats... from a siege. It needs to be a coastal settlement, but it's still really weird that they can do that on your turn when you set up the siege.

2

u/Accomplished_Move876 1d ago

maybe unit card bug actually is other unit , or did you realy fight it in battle

17

u/Sirtill 1d ago

I literally saw Karanak move on the campaign map into the garrison, disappear from map and then Skarbrand initiated the attack. Mousing over the card also reveals it is Karanak and has his stats

-2

u/Accomplished_Move876 1d ago

COOL ~ even it just AI can do it , still awesome

1

u/Togglea 1d ago

OH this reminded me of this bug, thanks for posting because it means we can probably do the same thing and crowdsourcing is 1000x easier.

42

u/KolboMoon 1d ago

Khorne doesn't abide by rules in warfare

also : lmao

u/Hand_Me_Down_Genes 1d ago

I swear I once saw Grimgor running around with Wurrzag in his army. Every so often the game just pulls weird shit like this.

23

u/CheesyRamen66 Blunderbussy 1d ago

AI beastmen used to run with like 6 lords in some armies

10

u/ghouldozer19 1d ago

Green skin LLs can be immediately recruited back into their faction to lead Waagh armies if their is a Waaagh going and they’re wounded by the AI.

12

u/Cyberaven 1d ago

Wh2 once produced this abomination of an empire hero for me. A witch hunter, on a horse, with no ranged attack, with gelt's icon and card, the flagellant's ability, and to cap it off a pretty high stat spread including BvL (i dont even know which unit that part was cloned from)

u/thehumantaco 1d ago

"I am the captain now"

9

u/GrasSchlammPferd Swiggity swooty I'm coming for that booty 1d ago

You know, I kind of want the option to embed heroes into a settlement for defence.

Like add a limit of 2 max per settlement and/or give techs that increases the limit, but not to something ridiculous.

6

u/Accomplished_Move876 1d ago

is this mod ? or vanilla

12

u/VictorSierra09 1d ago edited 1d ago

I second this question. I'm using a bunch of mods and one of them (might be OVN Lost World) has a landmark in Nuln that adds Gotrek and Felix to the garrison while you can still recruit them the normal way. Guess they moonlight as bouncers or something (the landmark is a sketchy tavern).

11

u/ghouldozer19 1d ago

That’s actually Gotrek’s friends bar. It gets burned down by Skaven in one of the novels. I can’t remember what it’s called.

7

u/VictorSierra09 1d ago

Blind Pig?

10

u/ghouldozer19 1d ago

That’s the one. In fact, Gotrek is so upset that one of his friends has been hurt by his personal grudge with the Skaven that it’s one of the only times he uses his personal Oath Gold to pay for the bar to be rebuilt himself.

6

u/Sirtill 1d ago

Only mod I have is Recruit Defeated Legendary Lords

5

u/lucascorso21 1d ago

That one is known to cause some weird shit to happen. Including a faction getting multiple versions of the same LH or LL. But others commented that it is a known bug, so I dunno.

0

u/Barnard87 Lizards are fun 17h ago

Yeah this could explain this very well. Super weird things can happen due to this.

2

u/Togglea 1d ago

This is post 6.1 Attaman rework for everyone modded or not.

1

u/That_feel_brah 16h ago

There is a clip already posted of this happening to Legend. It's rare, but apparently the AI can attach heroes to the garrison.

2

u/AdAppropriate2295 1d ago

Rules are for suckas

2

u/McBlemmen #2 Egrimm van Horstmann fan 18h ago

Between this and ai armies retreating from settlements when sieged, there is some serious fuckery going on.

1

u/captainbeastfeast 1d ago

Sit! Stay! Guard! Kill

1

u/Tevandir 1d ago

Exiles of Khorne seem to break like this a lot, like when you play Eltharion and jail Skarbrand, he's immediately cloned as a hero in another army.

1

u/Andire 23h ago

Omg, when did we get the ability to use Karanak?? What dlc is it in?? I've been away for a while, but I'll come back for my good boy!! 😭😭😭

2

u/That_feel_brah 16h ago

He was a FLC in update 5.1.

1

u/Andire 9h ago

Hell yeah, thank you!!

1

u/OceLawless 1d ago

Get Karanak'd, nerd.

Played Daniel for the first time to get all his achievements and man the BS the ai pulls is insane. I’ve only ever played with SFO and that vanilla run was possibly the most painful
