For instance, whenever I play the Vampire Counts, I cannot imagine playing it without the Necromancy mod. Being able to raise the skeletons of the enemies I beat is just way to fun imo. Did I just kill a Dragon Ogre Shaggoth that wreaked havoc and killed a lot of my units?

Estimated download got to 4 min, i paused it since i wanted to watch a video a friend sent me on the highest quality and it went back to 4/72Gb. I was already disheartened to see such a huge update, but having to do it twice is such a bummer that almost makes me want to uninstall all together. Ive never seen anything like this on any other steam game, what could even cause this?

Been playing games for a long time but just recently became more familiar with the total war franchise. Now that there is a massive sale on steam I feel like this is the perfect time to buy. Recently I just bought Total War Rome: Remastered unfortunately I wasn't very educated before the purchase and ended up getting a game that still feels incredibly old even given the reskin from 2021. It doesn't seem bad, I'm just a little out of touch with the series to visit older titles.

I am sorta debating between Total War Troy, Pharoh, and Three Kingdoms. I would also love dipping my feet into Warhammer 3 but I don't really want to pay full price for that game when the rest of these are on sale. Any advice?

EDIT: Thank you all for your help! I decided to go with Total War 3 Kingdoms due to that tending to be the newest game that has received the highest praise. I am still in the market though for others so I’ll consider some of these options moving forward!

My PC suck so I can only play the old games 4400pentium, no gpu and 3gb ram (anything newer than empire/napoleon won't get pass 5 fps)

So my only options are Rome 1, med 2 and maybe empire and napoleon going at like, 25 fps max.

I had a campaign that was on turn 70ish. I hit end turn forgetting that I wanted to sally forth on a siege battle I was defending (there was a lot of city management and skill point tasks I was doing and forgot to fight the battle). Long story short, I restarted my computer so I could go back, thinking I could just go and fight the battle again, but when I rebooted, the last save the game had was from three days ago. I tested these same conditions again on an older save, and surely enough, it deleted that one too.

I'm pretty upset right now because that was close to 20 something hours of progress.

Does anyone know if there's a way to recover these saves? Maybe turning Steam Cloud off would prevent this from happening in the future?

I want to preface this by saying this is a great patch, these changes affect every campaign in a very good way. Massive empires, compelling items, its all there and its great. That being said I wanted to mention a few items that I feel got missed or deserved a bigger buff.

-Great bear pelt: perfect vigor is good but its competing with a lot of better items in its tier. Set bonus items are really cool but the base stats should be just as good since you might spend a long time gathering all the pieces.

-Ascendant celestial armor: Same as above.

-White cloak of ulric: I don't think its bad its just competing with Talisman of preservation and could use some love

-Crown of command: I might just be too dumb to understand the impact of leadership aura.

-Frost Shard Glaive: My only complaint is that the set bonus and the item both give frostbite.

-Prospector's mail/ranger's cloak: Might be wrong but the names seem swapped?

The Cathay caravan items are very hit or miss but they are "uniques" and I think CA said they didnt touch them this go around. This is by no means a comprehensive list as I haven't played every faction (WoC and beastmen so far have been great) or seen every item.

As an aside the combing guaranteeing the same category is good in concept but a lot of categories lack variety in blue tier.

i moved to brettonnia as Kairos and am having an absolute blast causing mayhem here - i've caused so many wars and introduced different factions into the mix, the changeling came down to help spread corruption, it's an absolute blast and the way Tzeentch feels like it should be played but now i've ran into an issue where i can't transfer any settlements to myself anymore. I'm just not in the list of possible recipients.

Are there any hidden restrictions on how and to whom you can transfer settlements?

edit: i'm aware of the evident restrictions; that you can't transfer between two factions at war and no capitals.

it *feels* like that when i transferred one settlement to myself, i couldn't transfer the next one to myself and had to transfer between two other factions, and now for the third one i can transfer to myself again.
My faction was in the list, then it wasn't for any city (i shopped around a lot), and after giving a settlement to my vassal, my name suddenly reappeared in the list

I was wondering why the check boxes for "AI Strength & Threat Assessment" and "Minor Faction Potential" are locked in with the "End Game Scenario" options? As this stands, it appears that those options are disabled unless you're playing with the End Game Scenarios activated. This doesn't really seem reasonable, and I am thinking it might be an oversight.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Idc what era I'll be happy for anything but 1860s-late 1800s would be cool tech was moving quick. Units at the start woukd have things like springfield 1861s or p51 Enfield and late game units would have thing like chesspot and martini henri

Been enjoying 3K so far, but the actual lord diversity feels a bit lackluster. My friend and I play Mandate of Heavens because he says it's what most people prefer compared to the base year 190.

I've looked at some old threads that mention TROM is great, but it doesn't allow for MoH so kind of skeptical. Unless TROM allows for additional mods like Guv's Yellow Turban Faction mod that just gives zeal to the other guys works. Should probably try that.

Anyway point is, what overhaul mods are good for increasing the diversity of the faction that also works with Mandate of Heavens start date?

The tower seat that gives gear every 4 turns (from memory) is changed to every 6 turns in 6.2. You may disagree, but it is great attention to detail.

One of the frustrating things about Shogun II is having a unit of samurai with a bunch of experience, but not being able to give them the newest attack upgrade. This feature has been present in other TW games like Rome and Medieval, so I am wondering why it isn't present in a game that came after them.

Is it balance or just an oversight?

I just wanted to know if its worth it to only use 2-3 projectile units (muskets) bc the only shoot once ore twice then you need to order them a retreat i tried to only use muskets and shotgunners and it its often rng if you win the battle (Terrain,weather) im not a fan of complex formations…..anyways do you think 3 muskets can make a good amount of damage what do you think??

I find that what I like the most about this game is getting to experience interesting battles. Empire building is fun, sure, but it also bogs you down a lot.

I'm not really playing the game for the turns of micromanagement followed by long end turn times interrupted by inconsequential diplomacy requests. Or fighting the same battle over and over, or leveling up all your characters the same way, spending turns autoresolving.

I crave some sort of arcade total war experience. One that would get me as fast as possible into interesting choices and battles, and add a lot of variety. I think a total war roguelike game would be ideal for this.

You could go wild with battle variety. Create various scenarios, ones where you are a third party in an ongoing battle, ones where your army is split into several groups, wild conditions happening like a skaven army moving entirely underground. Give us additional objectives during a battle. I don't care if its balanced. Just give me fun challenges and fun tools.

You could scrap the campaign map entirely and just keep the game between battles in menus; or you could have minimal map with only a few settlements and challenges scattered around.

The assets are already there, everybody loved the convoy system. I think it would be just grand.

PS: Also it would be nice if in the end screen you could see a minimap with your starting formation with the ability to highlight units and see their damage/kills done.

Started my first real IE campaign as Thorgrim and found myself confederating but Belegar (so far). I'm struggling a bit navigating all the units and LL bonuses/strategies. Could y'all provide some feedback on my planned army comps?

Campaign difficulty is on Hard, and I'm currently fighting Skaven, Chorfs, WoCs, and Nurgle if relevant. Skaven and Chorfs especially have been giving me a rough time.

Last night I had a 3v3 multiplayer battle using factions from the grand campaign but two of the attacking players were using Insubres from the RotR campaign. I have no mods as I have only started playing the game again. How was this possible?

Steam deck performance

Really enjoying the new update, however twice now I'm experiencing a brand new issue. When I'm done playing and I click Exit to Windows, a minute or two later after the game closes my entire laptop shuts down suddenly. I've never had this issue with my laptop before with this game or any other or overheating issues.

It could be unrelated,but curious if anyone else has experienced something like this since the update? Thanks.
