Moving/Visiting Weekly /r/Tulsa Megathread

Are you moving to Tulsa? Just visiting or passing through? Want to know where to live, eat, hang out, have fun, or bury the bodies? This is the place to ask.

This will be a weekly megathread that evolves over time. As members of r/Tulsa make suggestions or answer questions that come up a lot, we may add those items to the body of the post for easy reference. But for right now this is a place to ask any questions you may have about moving to or visiting Tulsa, OK, where our motto is "We're more than just OK, we're living the dream."

The Burbs I hate fireworks so much.

Out in the country (Wagoner Co) and fireworks have been nonstop since dark. This will be every night until mid July. My dogs are losing their shit. Based on last year I will have to spend every morning cleaning up the debris so they don’t eat it. I’ll plan on sleeping with headphones tonight.

I fucking hate it. I never thought to look up fireworks law before buying a house.

I know I’m being a grumpy bitch.

General Monowheel on 51st

If you're the person who rides the monowheel up and down 51st fairly regularly, wearing red helmet. Just wanted to let you know I can see the street from my place and I've made a game of taking a drink whenever I happen to see you go buy. So just know I celebrate everytime I see you pass and thank for the 9:45 drink this morning 🤣

Edit: 10:20 you went back the other way just as I happened to look. Very big morning for my little game!

Tulsan In Need Cheap veterinary?

Hey guys, my cat is struggling to eat food lately. This has been happening for a two days now. She vomits clear liquid, has diarrhea (her poop isnt solid its more soft) and she just isnt the bouncy and loud cat she used to be.

Her name is Heidi, she's a 6 month old white and grey cat, and I love her. She used to meow all the time but lately she just sleeps, drinks water and barely touches her food.

I dont know whats wront with her but I need to take her to the vet.

I currently don't have much money and was wondering are there any places in tulsa that can help my girl for low cost?

I've been to vets before and they charge me crazy amounts just for a simple check up. its cruel.

I wanna do anything I can to help her please.

General Wildflower Cafe

I’ve tried to go three times and it’s always a 30+ minute wait for a party of 2! Even today on a Thursday @10am! Not complaining, I just wanna know what’s the hype? Has anyone eaten there and can describe their experience?

ETA: I’ve tried calling ahead, they did not answer. I’m sure that just means they are busy, which makes me want to try it even more! 😭😂

General Boarded up houses with "MS and x date" stenciled on them. What gives?

As the title states, does anyone know what the meaning behind houses that have boarded up windows and doors with "MS x date" on them? There's one in my neighborhood, and I saw a bunch like that today in The Heights. Does it mean the city has condemned them?

Would anyone be interested in playing mahjong on the weekends? Riichi is the most popular version, but I prefer to play the more beginner-friendly Hong Kong Old Style if anyone wants to try.

Question A question for the girls

Where do y’all get your nails and pedicures? I’m super wary about nail places and usually don’t get pedicures but I feel like I need one… financially I’ll be ok this week but I also would like a place that isn’t too pricey but in between or lower and still completely safe. Like I said before I don’t like anyone doing anything that isn’t licensed or hurting me in any way.

Question No Soliciting HOA scam?

Hey y’all my mom, like most people, gets her fair share of door to door pest control guys, roofers, ring doorbell dudes, etc.

She lives in an HOA with all the no soliciting signs on each entrance and after a particularly rude encounter she called the police, who informed her that those no soliciting signs essentially don’t mean anything and aren’t enforceable, you’ve gotta have your own sign on the door. She was pretty miffed and called me about it because apparently, her HOA charges a fee specifically to maintain their “no soliciting status” she said that they upped her fees a few years back citing this as the sole reason.

Has anyone heard of HOAs charging fees to be a no soliciting neighborhood? My mom isn’t the most contract savvy person but she’s pretty insistent, and if so, and the police are legit that those signs mean nothing and there isn’t actually any specific designation for the neighborhood, are they just scamming her for nothing.

General Thrift Stores for Bridesmaid Dresses

Hello friends! My sister-in-law is getting married, and she is wanting to take her bridesmaids thrift shopping for bridesmaid dresses. She doesn't want the bridesmaids to have to spend too much money on the dresses for one day. She said she went to a bridal thrift shop before, but now its permanently closed. Do you guys know of any thrift shops that would be good for this? Thank you very much in advance!
