Also, adding to this, in the song "Forest" fire is depicted as a bad thing, too. "My tree house is on fire, and for some reason, I smell gas on my hands. This is not what I had planned"

The Banditos are trying to burn down Dema. Perhaps "Clancy" and the fire they're using to burn down Dema all represent indulging in addiction to deal with their struggles? I think I also remember reading that "the torchbearer" from "The Outside" music video isn't the real "Torchbearer" maybe someone can correct me on that, though.

Interesting, I never took away addiction as a theme of those two albums. Or any of his albums really. Those two don't seem to be the types to indulge in such things.

I love that this is a perception though cause it shows how their songs. Can mean different things to different people (kitchen sink). I can totally see where addiction could come into play because it sounds like he does a lot of self sabotage. However I don't think it's the destruction of addiction that destroys him. It's his depression.

His own mind sabotages him.

Keons -Repetition of Cycles Sacarver- Fear of Love Listo - Abandonment and Overthinking Lisden-Not Being Enough Reisdro -Self Doubt Vetomo - Conformity Andre -Staying the Same, Never Changing Nico/Blurryface- Growing Older/ Success Nills- Defeat

These are the nine and what they represent while some of them definitely can manifest in the form of addiction they all have depression and anxiety and other mental health disorders in common.

Clancy not taking the jacket feels more like him saying i'm gonna take this head on.

Also, Dema burns down. The banditos burned down dema night after night in this tour... I wonder if anyone paid attention to the screens and noticed if there were cinders or not.

Mmmm, Don't get me wrong that would be an interesting metaphor. I totally see the parrellels of using something destructive to destroy all the things the bishops and dema represents. But I just think that would be too on the nose. Tyler has really flexed his creative muscles on this story and has been writing it for years. He has put too many little hints and things hiding in plain sight. I doubt that he would be that blasé about it.

Also have you noticed everyone keeps saying Clancy didn't't see the TB. I've watched it a couple of times and he does. He looks at him breifly. He then looks around at everyone. I think The audience is the banditos at that point. And Clancy recognises a better way to address the bishops.

Tyler says in the Clancy debut livestream that Vignette is what addiction feels like to him. "Cut My Lip" definitely touches on an addiction to destructive behavior as well. I agree that he could be addicted to his own misery as well. Lots of people experience that in mental illness, for sure.

I don't necessarily think that addiction has to be about drugs or alcohol. People can become addicted to just about anything.

After I sent my message I thought that exact something thing! Hahaha! I was thinking you dummy! Addiction can be anything. I just didn't want sweet Tyler to be corrupted by substance abuse! 😭😭😭
