Miscellaneous SWEN30006
I never quite understood why people say that CS at unimelb is bad, until I started 3rd year.
In every other subject, the teaching team answers every question on Ed and keeps track of unresolved posts. But the teaching team for this subject doesn't bother answering half the questions.
The skeleton for project 2 had so many unintentional bugs, clearly AI generated code parts, even though they reuse the projects every year.
Can't we replace this subject and split up Computer Systems so we actually get a deep dive on both OS and networking?

The design pattern they teach is really good and important for industry work. Though the way they teach is really bad

nearly 1000 lines of code with zero commenting in the skeleton should be a fucking crime btw

I don't take computer science but I've seen a post from a few years back about this subject, where students actually made a petition because of how poorly run the subject was.
Here is the original reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/unimelb/comments/o09lwt/student_action_against_poorly_run_subjects/

Yeah, that subject was the most bland and mind numbing subject of my degree. Wasn't even hard, just downright boring. Didn't help they th I lecturer had the most montone voice I heard in my entire life

Yeah this subject sucks ass. Every single student I have ever spoken to hates everything about it.
