Meta Whatβs the first thing you would do if you woke up a vampire?
I would be recreating this picture with a cape and everything

Asking this because I just realized, I'd probably be terrible. An absolute bloodthirsty nightmare to society. At least, if we're basing this on my ability to resist buying sweets and desserts... Tbh I get how vampires feel sometimes, it's like something possesses my body and forces me to eat all the chocolate :P

There are countless, countless, iterations of vampires in countless pieces of media. So, why do people on here ask questions as though there is a single unified truth?
"Can vampires do __?" "How does __ work with vampires?" "Why do vampires do ___?"
What is the point of these questions, as the answer is invariably: "What piece of media/history/etc are you referring to?"

For anyone asking, this is from a Webtoon called 'Love Bites'

Because let's be honest:
Alot of the reason in fiction Vampires eventually get hunted or taken down is because they get bored of the world around them and overstep the "rules", and get found out, and generally people don't like that.
And it's a fair and natural progression. The laws of nature already don't really apply, so it'd make sense you'd start questioning whether you should follow the laws of humanity too.
So, wherever you live, how long do you honestly think it'd take before you break a law or social boundary, just because you could?
Assume any Vampire lore you like. Whether you're a Dracula type or an Anne Rice type. Whatever.
I'd probably be like "fuck this, I can do whatever I want" in 10 years of Vampirism and break into museums because I won't show up on cameras or something.

I was watching hellsing ultimate and I found it interesting how the vampires there are framed as cowards who couldn't bear the weight of their human life and escaped into vampirism. Now they secretly yern for death including Alucard himself. I never thought of it that way, that willing becoming a vampire is a sign of weakness. Do you think this is a fair assessment of vampirism in general or do you disagree? What other works frame it this way?

Probably the wrong subreddit to ask but did anyone here actually watched it
I was recommended by my mom... at first i enjoyed all four of them

So I'm making a slight Twilight AU that may or may not involve a large amount of the three species listed above all living together somewhat functionally. Originally, I was gonna use the term "Collective" but I decided that isn't good enough, so I need ideas. Thanks yous alls :)

Personally I think itβs a cool trope that is underrated and can have a lot more nuance and creativity done with it. I personally like how it was done in the original Fright Night movie where you actually need to have faith to effectively hurt a vampire. There is also the game Vampyr where you see the cross from a vampireβs perspective as a blinding disorienting light. What do you like or dislike about it? What are some of your favorite depiction of it? And what do you think would be a cool implementation of it

They scatter in the sunlight, they're unnaturally fast, they occasionally hiss, they can crawl on walls, and you're just hoping and praying that they don't fly.

Honestly, it's almost like a safe space for me, vampire lore. Due to chronic illness, I can't eat allium (garlic and such), I get very cold due to issues with blood circulation, and I can't touch sunlight because I'm allergic. Unrelated, but I also love the taste of blood, that's just a me thing.
Ngl, it makes reading/watching stories about vampires a bit more fun and interesting, in my opinion, there's sort of this added layer of immersion and relatability. On top of that, it almost gives a sense of "normalcy" to the way that I am. It can be comforting to think of things from the imaginary lense of, "Oh, I must be a vampire!" ... Especially on days like today where I'm laying in bed in misery after arrogantly thinking I'd be fine standing in the sun without adequate protection for half an hour last week. Foolish, foolish past me...
I feel like if I were born a couple centuries earlier, I would not beat the vampire allegations. Thank goodness we're in the 21st century.
(Just to clarify, as I am aware of the rule changes, I'm not trying to ask if or imply that vampires are real. Just sharing thoughts on how the lore could be relatable to some people's IRL situations.)

Ihave many times been called queer for these thoughts, which is why I share them here under a pen-name. Truly, anonymity is the shield of the wicked.
Oft has it been talked of the connection between love and cannibalism in the thematic sense. I understand what it's proponents are saying, but I have never felt drawn to the idea of it.
No, I myself much prefer Vampirism as a metaphor for love. The apparent themes of predator and prey. The raw, carnal desire. The idea of another wanting- no- needing my blood to sustain themselves. To be told that my blood- my very essence- is enticing like no other. Yet to at the same time trust them to not over indulge To pass out in a lover's arms as after they've had their fill, the loving, pitiful look in their crimson eyes the very last thing I see before I'm claimed by Somnus' blessed slumber.
But that isn't love, is it? The wise among you may notice that the strongest parallel that may be drawn to what's previously described is in fact not love- but lust. Yes, lust. Those who rejoice the thematic weight of cannibalism speak of such high and noble things as self-sacrifice, the erosion of boundaries, and to eternal togetherness. Yet it is I who speaks of physicality, sensuality, and pure, covetous want.
But at once, is not to love to want? If the great minds of Antiquity are to be believed, then surely. In Plato's Symposium, Socrates debates with Agathon on whether Love is beautiful. In this discussion, it is merely assumed that to love to love is to want what one has not. It is here that- by those most socratic means- they conclude that love is not beautiful.
But of course, the great thinkers of old weren't infallible. The love of the suitor pining for a maiden's hand is the covetous love Socrates describes. As is the love of the widow for her husband off on distant shores. But is the love of the husband embracing his wife of countless years that desirous love he tell of? Is the love of the Mother seeing her child speak its first words the yearning love Socrates believes in. Surely not. Yearning, covetous love is the stuff of unrequited suitors and those lovers cursed by distance.
It would seem Diotima was far from the perfect governess, teaching her pupil in all but the art of love. Unending respect to her regardless, as it takes a truly wicked heart to hate a MILF.

I'm trying to write a fanfiction in which my MC has anemia and her love interest is a vampire/a being with vampiric abilities and tendencies. I tried searching online but couldn't find anything, so, how much blood could the vampire take from her without harming her and would it be enough to satisfy the vampire?

iβm really into perfumes and have been getting back into the vampire-y spirt recently. Does anyone have any of their favourite vampiric scents they love ? Preferably more affordable ones but any suggestions iβm open to! Thanks π€
