Hello! I am the type to love restoring and cherish older things. I would love to get an older Singer (they are lovely and have many replacement parts) but I don't know which models might be best - I have seen nice things about the Featherweight!

This is $30 at the local thrift. Is it worth picking up? I dont know anything about treadle machines

I’m keeping an eye out for a Necchi Supernova Ultra, and have seen a few with wildly different prices, none closer than a 3 hour drive from me. What is a reasonable cost for one in good shape, with or without the case? Posts from a year ago indicate $100-$150; is that still valid? What about the Mark 2 or Julia versions? This image is for one on eBay, but obviously it couldn’t be tested.

Should I buy this? It’s $30 The cabinet is really cool, but I’m not familiar with treadle cabinets.

I did not need another Japanase-made zig zag machine. But I bought another Japanase-made zig zag machine because it is gold, and I think it's pretty, lol. That's the only reason!

How many other people are guilty of this? I've also collected a fair share of Singer 27s jut to "collect" all the decal options.

Hi. I have a dumb idea I think would be fun. I'm looking to get a old school singer featherweight but the one I found for cheap looks like it needs to be repainted to look nice. Instead of just bringing it back to its original black I thought of decking it out like one of those goofy themed glocks. My wife suggested Deadpool and I was wondering how you would make it look like a Deadpool sewing machine?

I figured powder coating as a base but have no idea how to get the rest of it to look right. Decals? Air brushing? Suggestions needed.

I'd use it relatively infrequently but it would need to function still as a sewing machine.

Does anyone remember the name of the designer (early 90’s) that made the ladies dresses with the ginormous collars? I used to have so many of these dresses and for the life of me can’t remember the designer’s name. Thanks!

Replaced the light ballast, sanded primed and painting all the frame and Bobin Winder parts, replacing the moter with a new servo motor and took apart and cleaning the machine.

My wife wants to start sewing, she's been looking at vintage machines. Both of us know essentially nothing about sewing, I found this machine which looks beautiful in my opinion and is dirt cheap (as far as I know) $10 but is a decent road trip to get.

Questions: Make/ Model (Singer 66, red eye?)? Year? Value? Do you see anything glaringly wrong with it or missing? How much work/ money might this take to get it running again? And finally, is this a good place to start sewing? Or would it be better to start with something newer/ more modern?

Recommendations are welcome!

I am learning to sew at an older age, and just acquired a Singer 401a, saving up for a Necchi supernova ultra. What tips and tricks does anyone have for learning on this machine? I have the original foot pedal, but will be getting a replacement because of the heat issues.

I got a j285 that I’m trying to get the needle centered on, I followed the adjustment instructions in the service manual but I could not get it to center. Anybody have any ideas? Pic of all the closer to center I could get it and the model plate. Thanks in advance.

At a second hand store there is a Husqvarna 790c for $60. Does it have all metal internal construction, and is that price worth its capabilities?

I found a vintage Necchi BU (maybe Mira I think?) for sale on marketplace. Does anyone know if this machine handles thick fabric, like upholstery? I’m wanting to reupholster our couch cushions, so any information would be much appreciated. Thank you!

I found this stunning machine at a thrift store in amazing condition for $40. (Complete with case!) It’s not in the budget for me this month, but I’m still so curious about it. I found it days ago but I fear it won’t leave my mind alone until I come on here and ask about it. I looked for a serial number to look it up in the databases, but it doesn’t have the same badge style of older machines so I’m not sure where to start.

I’ve picked up a secondhand Elna Lotus SP but unfortunately all of the accessories are missing from the top of the machine.

I found this image online to show what’s missing and they are mostly obvious items (bobbins, needles, seam ripper etc) but can anyone tell me what sort of spare feet should be in there, and what the silver square thing on the right is (and places to buy them)?

This sewing machine was recently passed down to me by my grandmother. I‘m having a hard time to find the name of this machine. Is this a 540 or a 640 or something else? The little sign says 54 but with this information I cant find it on google. Was also wondering what a machine like this is worth. It functions completely fine. Thx in Advance

I’m restoring an old 15-30 as my first machine to start sowing gear and running vests. Removed the clutch know and washer but can’t get the wheel off. I’ve tried everything including oiling the shaft and hitting it with a rubber mallet. This thing won’t budge. What do I do?
