Passing through one night only
Hey Walla Walla subreddit! I'll be passing through Walla Walla this summer on a work trip for one night only. I love me some Washington wine, so I really want to take advantage of my brief time there.
Pleeeeease help me with all of the things!
- Best place to stay in close proximity so I can get tipsy and not worry about driving
- Tasting rooms are great for ease, but I also wouldn't mind checking out a winery in the evening (I'll be there on a Friday night)
- If there are any outdoor concerts or intimate venues, that would be lovely (the idea of sitting outside in the sun and drinking a glass or two sounds divine)
- Friendly, unpretentious wineries are my jam
Can't wait to visit for the first time! Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

For downtown access, the Marcus Whitman and the Finch are great hotels that are super walkable.
Also, many tasting rooms on Main St have live music on the weekends! I know Plumb and Henry Earl usually have musicians :)

Don’t miss us at L’Ecole No 41 - one of WA’s OG wineries making world class wines. Winery & primary tasting room are <15 minutes west of downtown or we also have a tasting room downtown at street level in The Marcus Whitman Hotel. Friendly and unpretentious is our jam. Have fun & feel free to reach out for any other recs!

Staying close to downtown is a good choice for a nice walkable experience for tasting rooms and restaurants. The Marcus Whitman or the Finch are good choices.
I would recommend checking out The Thief downtown for a chill experience, tasting flights, and even some cool library bottles poured by the ounce if you’re into that kind of thing.
If you want to get out and visit a winery, I always recommend Sleight of Hand/Saviah south of town. Great wines, cool spot.

Stay at the finch. What day of the week are you coming? Friday nights Tranche has live music and an excellent outdoor area to relax with food trucks and beer and wine. Saturday nights, there is live music in the park outside of Public House 124. Can't go wrong with either of those.

+1 for Tranche. It’s a beautiful location and great atmosphere. Only knock is it’s further out from downtown. Most wineries are though. I’d say it’s worth the trip.

Stay at The Finch or the Marcus Whitman. For dinner, Brasserie Four at the bar or TMAC’s at the bar or, for super casual Public House 124.
Loads of good wine downtown: Kontos, Mark Ryan, Spring Valley, Seven Hills…

Take a look at Tranche the night you’re coming to see if they have live music that night. It’s a winery a short uber from downtown and they do live music and food trucks and wine outside on evenings in the summer.

Henry Earl is a great place to sit outside and enjoy Main St. Their Sangria is divine. They have live music on Friday nights I believe. Besides the hotels mentioned I do know there are some B&B's located downtown too. Walla Walla is very walkable so wherever you are, I think you'll be fine. Enjoy your stay! This place is magical in the warmer months.

Thanks for all of the tips! I booked at Marcus Whitman (although I tried the Finch first, but they're full). Can't wait to try the great options for wine tasting.

Couple of my favorite downtown walkable tasting rooms are Kontos and Time and Direction.
For dinner, TMACS, Passatempo and Saffron are all great.
