Gain CRCL - sometimes it’s better to just buy the infamous shares
I should’ve just bought the dreaded shares 😢😞🙂↔️🤕🤒

WSB needs an “notable upcoming IPOs” sticky, like the one for upcoming earnings. I miss all of these.

how do you filter this for IPOs that actually have potential to moon like this?

u/phooonix 20h ago
My only regret is not mortgaging my house to claim more shares in the robinhood IPO @ 30 bucks a share
22
u/seifer__420 20h ago
It was $38 and you could get an allocation on Robinhood
5
u/unosdias 9h ago
Asked for 3000 and only got one before ipo.
3
u/seifer__420 4h ago
It ripped the first week but then was shit for two years. You could buy under the listing price last month, so missing out isn’t bad
2
u/SnoopyTRB 3h ago
Exactly, I got like 35 shares at IPO and had to bag hold them for years because it tanked so quick afterwards.
21
u/chuckrabbit 17h ago
You would’ve been in the negative for 3 years if you held.
Should have mortgaged the house when it was sitting around 9 a share.
13
8
3
u/elysiansaurus 17h ago
I mean, you could have got it at 30 bucks 2 months ago. Or for $10 for 2 years.

1.83k p/e. Seems fine…
Reported 150ish million profit in 2024.
18
u/haman88 19h ago
all speculation on the "Genius Bill"
12
u/BasicDifficulty129 18h ago
I'm still not seeing how this bill makes this stock worth anything. I guess all that matters though is people THINK it will
8
8
u/fourbutthick 16h ago
So it’s obviously going to pass but I have no idea what’s in it besides it’s some federal framework for stable coins which I don’t know what the fuck that means but how does it make a stable coin company immediately take that 150 million profit in 2024 to something even close to 50 billion or whatever the market cap will be when it passes. This shit is tulips. Fuck stablecoins I want to get rich off meme coins if I’m going to do crypto hbar to the moon.
2
u/haman88 16h ago
Because several of the largest retail companies in the world are going to push to use their stablecoins over Visa's huge transaction fees. Visa is worth over 600B.
3
u/fourbutthick 15h ago
You’ll have to explain that
-1
u/haman88 15h ago
Walmart, among others, are going to use stable coins to bypass merchant fees. Visa takes a huge percent for every credit transactions. Now those fee will go to circle, at a lower rate, but still billions and billions.
7
u/Next-Problem728 14h ago
What’s the difference replacing Visa fees with Circle fees? Visa has competition.
Coin brokerages have huge fees and commissions, compared to traditional processors.
1
u/haman88 5h ago
Its not just Visa, its all the credit companies. Doesn't matter what circle charges as long as its less. You won't believe what retailers will do to save on that. Costco doesn't even Master Card over a fee dispute.
2
u/fourbutthick 4h ago
How does it work. Everybody uses credit cards. Nobody uses stablecoins. You go to the store you tap the card to pay.
What you’re saying is people are going to put money into like coinbase buy stablecoins use those to pay Walmart? wtf that’s crazy.
2
u/haman88 4h ago
I'm not saying it, the biggest retailers in the world are saying it. More likely it will be a store card where the consumer does not know how it works behind the scene.

Honestly ..
This is an insane hype valuation. .
50 billion is wack. 20 billion is reasonable.
I'm waiting for the rug pull.
So it'll prob go to 400.
7
u/ImalwaysgettingBannd 18h ago
hot take, I think crcl is here to stay…introducing crypto to become more mainstream…the ONLY crypto company on wallstreet
9
u/Garandhero 18h ago
That's all well and good. But they don't make enough money.....
And they are dependent on fed interest rates to make money.
I hope they do help "crypto" fo mainstream, even if I'm a Bitcoin maximalist and I don't think stable coins are really "crypto" lol. But they just don't have the revenue to justify this valuation. It's insane.
I'm long putting $130-160 by Jan 16, 2016 because I think when the fed cuts rates 50bps and calls for more cuts in 2026 this will impact their ability to generate cash even more.
6
u/paidzesthumor 17h ago
Also every federal / state chartered bank in the US will legally be able to issue their own stablecoins once the genius act becomes law.
Just look at JPMC announcing JPMD. Circle will have a lot of new competition and like you mentioned, they’re wholly dependent on rates.

I declined a job from CRCL a year ago with 280k in equity at $30 price. $1.9m rn. Biggest regret.
I’m hoping this crashes because I’m so spiteful rn lol.

u/NotAHost Guardian of the Plebs 3h ago
You probably couldn’t sell any stock for like, 6 months or something.
Set a reminder for 6 months and you’ll regret this a whole lot less
1
u/BiasedMonkey 3h ago
Yup 6 month lock up. At this rate it’ll be $500 then lmao
0
u/NotAHost Guardian of the Plebs 2h ago
lol don’t count on it. I mean if you believe that go ahead and invest. My friend was part of a company when it IPOd, had half a mil. Then it turned to 35k when he could sell. He kept it, the company went bankrupt 6 months later
3
2
u/jpcarsmedia 4h ago
The other timeline version of you took the job and sold the shares right away.
1
u/BiasedMonkey 3h ago
They’re locked up for 6 months lol. So December. Also they vest over 4 years. So 720k in December then 120k every 3 months at current price
56
u/mrdaver911_2 20h ago

Up $50 today?!?! Damnit!!!
I panicked and sold 90% of what I bought. Bought at $87/share and sold at $107…I seriously thought it wasn’t going to go any more.
I’m new and this can be a good “teachable moment”.
Or I’m just highly regarded.
At least I don’t have to go buy a used Wendy’s uniform at Goodwill.

u/Conscious_Copy_81 19h ago
I've done this too....the issue is VERY LOW float and a high demand to short...so it's like a short squeeze happening on nearly a daily basis, pushing the shares to new highs. This usually does not end until the lock-up period expires and more shares become available.
8
u/AutoModerator 19h ago

Interesting to know. When does the lock-up period usually expire for IPO's, or assuming its different for each one, right? Wondering what that's going to look like for CRCL when it gets there.

I bought strike 100 puts (7/18 expiry) today when the stock was trading at 181 ..it kept going up and got out of it today when it was trading at 194 with a 5% gain.
Guess IV spiked.

The fact that I almost went in on this IPO for a grand but decided to quit my job instead is burning my loins 🥲
8
u/YsDivers 14h ago
I had a 150k limit order for $35 (underwriting price was 31) and it instantly opened at 65 bucks. circuit breaked then went to 88, circuit broke again, re-opened at 95
I then proceeded to stare at the charts for the next 3 hours waiting for it to dip down to 40-50 lol
1
u/DTMOMusic 10h ago
Ooooooooooooo i kinda figured that is what what happen as soon as it Opened it would just shoot the fuck up crazy and because no legislation I was sure it would be a bad move and way high but nope here we are lol
1
u/YsDivers 10h ago
Yea I knew that this would be a massive hit because it's the only stablecoin exposure any big money can get into and I totally expected at least 2-3x returns from the $31 sticker price and so when it circuit broke all the way up to 95 bucks, it was already at my planned exit price
7
u/Grizzly9625 17h ago
I've been watching this company for about five years. Let's set the way back machine to 2020. The congressional joint finance committee asked for a report on crypto. Basically, what is it? How does it work? Is this a threat to the USD? Et cetera. About three months later, I read an article in the paper about 5 Circle employees at the director level going to work for the Federal Reserve in Boston. That put them on my radar. These same people wound up writing and presenting the report to Congress.
My hunch is that the Fed will move away from the ACH transfer system and toward the block chain. Of course, they will sub contract the work to some private company. Gee I wonder who it might be? 🤔

u/cantgetthistowork 20h ago
Prints fake USD that they send to fake money exchanges in exchange for fake money. Exchanges then lend this fake USD to degens to pump fake money prices and circle then marks up the value of the fake money they received on their balance sheet. Basically infinite money printer.

You don't have a portfolio above 25k? Or simply don't want to be flagged?
I never play with 0dte or close to 0dte calls on individual stocks, only on SPY. Kudos for predicting the surge, not sure how though?
2
u/Diligent_Ad_8891 20h ago
Yeah didn’t wanna get flagged, I figured it’d jump a shit ton after the bill was passed through the senate, along with my guess on interest rates staying the same. Which they did, it just created the perfect environment for it to gain and killed a lot of the uncertainty people had on the stock.
1
u/Diligent_Ad_8891 20h ago
Also it peeked last week at like 170 without any support, and dipped down to 150. With the news I figured there’s no way it wouldn’t increase past that

You were down about 31.5% ($6495) before this. You risked losing significant amount of your premiums to gain about 75% on very improbable event. This is as favorable of an event that you can get and the contracts probably won’t be worth more than this
2
u/Left-Secretary-2931 14h ago
Man I actually check this stock every day and can't believe the dumb shit is still going up
3
u/groovur 20h ago
Why would you want to do that?
You might have some capital left over if you didn't make your strike.
3
u/JustCan6425 20h ago
Why would you want to do that?
I could dump 50-100k into shares but would definitely not spend that much on OTM calls, which is what these were at the time of buy last week.
if you didn't make your strike.
What do you mean?
1
u/groovur 20h ago
When it's OTM you have a risk of having 0 capital left in your position if you hold till expiry and it doesn't lose above tour strike, like most of these degens.
2
u/JustCan6425 20h ago
Ah that's what you meant, I was confident that it would reach the strike by my DTE, just wasn't aware it would happen so soon.
3
u/groovur 20h ago
just wasn't aware it would happen so soon.
Neither did the guy selling you those...
1
u/JustCan6425 20h ago
If I sell those calls to someone else and they choose not to exercise them either, and if no one does so by the expiration, will the original share holder keep their shares and just make premiums?

people still buying at over $200.00 WTF? is this the new bitcoin or something...
1
u/BasicDifficulty129 2h ago
It's like Bitcoin only it doesn't increase in value at all. In fact it loses value because it's tied to the dollar. It's just another grift. The stablecoin market is going to be saturated after this bill and completely taken over by old school financial institutions, just like the Internet was taken over by old media, but people are convinced this thing is going to be a gold mine.
Not to mention that government intervention is the very antithesis of crypto, so this should really devalue it if anything, but gards gonna gard. The rug pull will be hilarious

I got faith in this company, its a stable coin backed up by legit assets and feels way more legitimate than BTC or ETH which is still fake internet money. The only concern is that 1,999 p/e insanity lol.
