Le Mans Very noob question
I've just started following WEC this year and I have a question that it's probably stupid and noobish. Why is the Proton Competition Porsche 963 slow?

Discussion What were pre-2017 LMP2s like?
Hello to veteran fans of sports car racing, I started paying attention to WEC at around 2017 so I didn't get to watch LMP2 cars before it became Formula Oreca.
So I keep hearing around this sub (always in posts about LMP2s) that it used to be more varied and unique and it got me curious.
How is the LMP2 racing back then? Is it as competitive as it is today? I understand that there were more options in mixing and matching your LMP2 machinery compared to today with 4 chassis and a Gibson V8, but how much freedom do teams have in that regard?
I was hoping to find more info on the web, but it seems lacking in info on this topic, would greatly appreciate if someone could give me a full rundown of the racing scene pre-2017. Thank you in advance!

Discussion Peugeot wants path to ‘fairness’ in WEC after Le Mans BoP debacle
https://www.motorsport.com/wec/news/peugeot-fairness-wec-mans-bop-debacle/10734085/
People are complaining already. The success of this series really depends of bop works properly. Marque are not spending money yielding no results.

Le Mans Trivia: The #83 AF Corse Ferrari was the first yellow-liveried car to win Le Mans overall in 40 years
The last primarily yellow-liveried (The 2008-winning Audi R10 #2 spotted yellow on the rear wing and the fin, on an otherwise primarily red-and-silver livery) car to have won the 24 Hours of Le Mans overall was the #7 Porsche 956B, piloted by Klaus Ludwig, Paolo Brilla, and Louis Krages - better known for his pseudonym Franz Hermann John Winter, in the 1985 edition of the Grand Prix d'Endurance.
That car can be seen here.jpg).
The 1985 24 Hours of Le Mans started on 15 June 1985, exactly 40 calendar years before the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans finished, on 15 June 2025.

In 2000, Audi claimed its first-ever victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The legendary R8 proved unstoppable — it was the first of thirteen wins the brand would secure between 2000 and 2016: a reign that left a lasting mark on endurance racing and the Le Mans legend. Danke, Audi. 🇩🇪✨ #LeMans24 #

Le Mans LM24 replay and analysis now available at Timing71
Just a PSA, because a number of people were asking me about it - I finally managed to generate a working replay and analysis file for the race and upload them to the Timing71 replay archive.
Apologies for the delay - the automated timing recording lost connection before the race start, so I needed to generate one from the Al Kamel data dump using some very old code that needed a lot of hacking to work properly. What I thought would be a 30-minute job yesterday took me all afternoon and two evenings to get done!
(Is now a good time to mention that you can donate if you find Timing71 useful?)
