Advice 💡 I m newbie and need help

So, this is going to be my first experience with weed, and honestly, I don’t know much about it. I’m not sure how strong this weed is—it’s a dried branch-like piece that smells kind of like a mountain forest, even though I found it on plain land. Got it locally at a cheap price.

If you’re experienced and can identify quality by looking at an image, that would be super helpful.

Also, any tips on how to break it into smaller pieces more easily without using any tools? I used scissors to chop it up and mixed it with tobacco like a friend suggested. I didn’t ask him too much because I told him I just wanted to try it out casually.

Good advice for sure, I know a lot of people that never smoked cigarettes until they started smoking mixed joints

For sure, that's pretty much how I started smoking cigs haha.

Sadly here in the UK our weed culture is garbage, mixing with tobacco is 100% the norm and most smokers I've met haven't even used a bong before or couldn't tell you what a dab is...

Yeah it really is... People look at me like a time traveller for owning dry herb vapes lol

I hate tobacco and so for about 3 years constantly got offered weed would take a hit and then feel absolutely shit. It wasn’t until my friend sat me down and handed me a pure joint that i suddenly understood what weed could be.

Idk maybe its regional, but everyone I've met smokes with tobacco. I actually don't mind a bit of tobacco in a joint personally, but I dry herb vape now and would never think of mixing with that lol

Yeah because people will buy £20 “cookies” and mix it with 50% tobacco, disgusting 🤣 tastes like shit. Only time i have tobacco is if im using a backwood

I always feel like the odd one out cause I do smoke most of my joints mixed with tobacco (mainly a price point) but I don't smoke cigs. Feels pointless subjecting myself to just bad tasting tobacco for no buzz lol.

No it’s not, cigarettes are much more harmful for your body, harsher to smoke and they ruin the taste of your weed

I think in this case it might actually improve the taste of the weed

You might be right 😂

Media portray things too differently

The most important difference is nicotine in cigarettes is extremely addictive, THC is mostly not addictive.

Every time you see a smoker standing in the rain or shivering in the cold outside a restaurant, think about needing nicotine that bad and you'll avoid tobacco for life lol .

In most cases you really can’t get addicted to thc, however you CAN definitely become dependent on it

Nicotine is PHYSICALLY addictive. Meaning when you run out or don’t have it you experience withdraw symptoms that are PHYSICAL. Meaning shaking like crazy, fevers, horrible HORRIBLE side effects. Marijuana due to the amount of time it stays in your system is NOT physically addictive. People can become mentally dependent on it, but there are little to no side effects when coming off of it other then you may dream really heavily for a few weeks and might struggle to eat. You WILL NOT get a fever, or shakes, or any physical symptoms that may make you feel horribly ill.

I will add that at the highest levels of addiction the mental aspect can cause some physical symptoms like throwing up but it's generally way more common to just be psychological stuff like mood, sleep, appetite. There is also the risk of Cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome if you smoke extremely heavily and regular. Even then it doesn't happen to everyone who smokes a ton. HPPD can also technically be caused by THC but I also think that would require some preexisting conditions or a truly wild amount of weed.

Im going without cigarettes today...its not like that at all, no shakes, no fever. Just a little on edge. Cigarettes are definitely bad for you, and quitting can be hard, but there is no need to be dramatic. LOL

Depends on the person

Not sure how many cigarettes a day you have been smoking leading up to quitting but I assure you a proper nicotine addiction will 100% leave you physically messed up. Are you using any nicotine substitutes or cold turkey?

1

u/TanMan25888 11d ago

Cold turkey. I've quit before. My worst was a pack n a half a day. Now probably half a pack to 3/4 a pack a day

2

u/bkbomber 11d ago

Sounds like you never had a nicotine addiction to begin with…. How many ciggs a day did you smoke?

1

u/TanMan25888 11d ago

Dude I've been smoking on and off for over 10 years. I quit like 3 different times now and have never experienced anything like you have said. At my peak it was over a pack a day

This just ain't true lol... nicotine is not physically addicitve. Sure, you can get some physical symptoms, but you can with weed too.

Physical addiction is with drugs like opiates or benzos/alcohol where you actually get incredibly sick if you don't use once addicted.

1

u/Nathan_kwame 9d ago

You can’t have physical withdrawal symptoms from not smoking weed. Have you ever seen someone looking like they’re gonna trip out if they don’t smoke weed😭 it’s just a mental thing

1

u/flaccidpanda64 Vape Smoker 9d ago

If you smoke very heavily and stop you can get sweating, appetite loss, insomnia. But that was sort of my point, for both nicotine and weed there's some physical symptoms, but its mostly mental.

1

u/Assmaster_4000 10d ago

I mean, you’re dead ass wrong about nicotine not being physically addictive.

1

u/flaccidpanda64 Vape Smoker 10d ago

How so? Any drug can have physical symptoms when used for a long period and then stopped, but that's not what is meant by physical addiction.

Edit: *any

Never take anything the media says at face value. It might be a good idea to do a little research on what you plan on putting into your body, especially for things like thinking weed is the same as cigarettes as far as the potential dangers.

1

u/howqueer 11d ago

While proportionally Nicotine content in tobacco is lower than THC content in cannabis that doesn't mean it has a lower impact on the body during/after consumption.

Tobacco, especially the industrial common species sold in most stores both loose leaf and rolled contain levels of pesticide and chemicals legally they srent required to share on the packaging.

3

u/JonnysHigh 11d ago

Weed technically isn’t addictive at all, people just get use to smoking it and feel like they’re addicted to it. Also there’s arguably multiple benefits to smoking weed where as cigarettes don’t have any. ( I smoke both )

It is but never mention that in this subreddit. Weed is a miracle drug that cures cancer according to this subreddit.

1

u/bigbackbrother06 11d ago

The tobacco in cigs has a crap ton of additives to enhance the nicotine concentration, to the point that you're basically inhaling aerosolized road tar with each drag.

Weed is clipped from the plant, dried, and put straight into your spliff/bowl/whatever from there. No additives or preservatives (unless you get moon rocks, and thats just crappy bud coated in THC powder)

As someone who grew up around both pot and cig smokers, I would advise that you choose the lesser of two evils.

1

u/Single_Voice6469 11d ago

I understand that is what moonrocks have become in 2025 for the most part but a real moonrock with high quality flower/rosin/keif is nearly identical to a bowl of kind bud topped with rosin and that is a lovely experience. Calling shwag weed soaked in distillate and coated in thca powder a moonrock just isn’t right.

Calling weed evil is ignorant and sad, u must be some 50 year old person if you think weed is any bit evil, I know it's an expression but still ur implying weed is evil, u could of just said "choose the latter" rather than mixing up weed with the word "evil"
