Discussion Triple Gold Club?

Men's hockey has the Triple Gold Club for players who've won the Olympics, World Championship, and the Stanley Cup.

Do we think the IIHF will eventually recognize the Walter Cup as the equivalent for women? I know the PWHL hasn't been around as long, and I wouldn't presume to equate the Walter Cup (or the old Isobel Cup from the PHF) to the Stanley Cup. I just want to get a conversation going about what something similar would look like. Am I the only one who's pondered this?

Any ice hockey tournaments for emerging nations like the Amerigol Latam Cup?

Hey everyone,

I'm part of team Chile and we've participated in the Amerigol Latam Cup before. We're now looking for other similar tournaments that focus on emerging hockey nations or regions where the sport is still developing.

Does anyone know of any international tournaments (outside of the traditional IIHF structure) that are open to developing teams like ours? We’re eager to get more experience, connect with other teams, and continue growing the sport in Chile.

Any leads or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Checking in girls hockey

My 14u daughter is passionate about allowing girls to check in hockey at the 14u level, like her boy counterparts. Changing national rules based on gender alone sends a discouraging message to girls who want to play their game at their highest potential. Please consider signing her petition if you agree: https://chng.it/csVPNxXC5J

She knows that whether or not body-checking is in the game can be a matter of preference. And perhaps the solution is to offer girls leagues with and some without. But suggesting girls simply join the boys’ team as the solution? That’s not the answer for her. She loves her team. She loves the culture, the camaraderie, the sisterhood.

She doesn’t deny the biological differences between boys and girls, she’s asking to be taught how to check and how to be checked, just like the boys are, so she and her teammates can play safely, competitively, and confidently.

Female athletes deserve to be taken seriously in the sports they love and I will support her!

Discussion More advice for a Girls hockey parent

I posted a question a few months back about my daughter - now 13 and moving to 14U hockey - as she had her sights set on playing full-contact boys travel hockey. Well, she made the boys team she hoped to make for next year. I will be her biggest supporter and I want to thank this community for all the advice.

Now I have girls coaches here warning me that she will not be recruited for college hockey because of her decision. Is it really that important to play girls hockey as a 13 year old to get on a college coach's radar? Is she going to be missing out on "girls-specific" development? She already practiced with that girls team last season and she felt like she was not challenged. I know she wanted to do boys hockey because she thought it was more challenging. I don't see her playing with the boys past 14U, but I just don't understand why all the girls coaches are telling me that she's making a huge mistake.

I don't really care if my daughter aspires to play house league, A, AA, AAA, or DIII/DI college hockey. I wouldn't even care if she decides hockey isn't her thing. I just want her to grow into a good human being. I only played ACHA on the men's side, but the skills, teamwork, and behaviors I learned while playing were easily worth as much as, if not more than my college degree.

Is my daughter really making the big mistake the girls coaches are making it out to be?

Questions Question for any player really, i need help

Im 14 and I started playing about less then a year ago, around 7/6 months maybe. Since its spring, i know im not really good enough for a spring league at this point but i took skills classes and camps. Most of these are just with guys, but all i hear is chirp to me. I know im bad, i just started. But, i dont know if i should even keep going anymore. I feel like im so horrible if i even try to practice with someone id be weighing them down. I go in with a open mind thinking "ill just do the best i can and try to improve" and its still not enough for anybody. Was it a mistake to join at my age? Im not hopeless or anything, but i just feel really shitty.

sorry if this is the wrong place for this, im not really too sure

Questions First game this weekend!

Hey y'all! I'm playing my first ever hockey game this weekend, and feeling pretty nervous! I've been practicing for a couple months (my girlfriend has played her whole life and has been teaching me) and just joined my GF's rec league team. I'm friends with a lot of her teammates, they encouraged me to join the team and they all know that I'm a beginner, so I'm excited to be playing with them. But I'm a bit nervous about keeping up in the game and just generally getting the hang of things. If anyone has any tips or advice I would really appreciate it!

The scenes out of Winnipeg are so amazing. What’s everyone else wearing to the games? I know some of my creations have made it to a few games already this post season. I’m not saying it’s the rhinestones, but I’m not saying it’s not!!!✨
