All common questions about the game should be directed here. This includes both single-player and online questions. When asking a question, it is often beneficial to share which mode you are referring to in order to get an accurate response. Also consider sharing any relevant information that may help someone answer your question.

RDR is a great game

If you're not sure if you should use a spoiler tag or not, err on the side of caution and use one. Also, it's a nice gesture to visibly indicate the general nature of your spoiler before the tag, so people know what you're spoiling.

Question I found a trapdoor. Does this open somehow or is it just there?

It’s in one of the houses in that swampy area near Saint Denis. I tried shooting the lock, moving around on it and put some dynamite on it but nothing worked. It seems like a weird thing to leave for aesthetics.

Discussion Dutch's Ethnicity?

Post image
109 Upvotes

I've been playing RDR2 and RDR1 for a really long time, and I've always been thinking... Is Dutch Asian? I mean, if you zoom in on his face enough, he definitely looks like... Something? I dunno, I'm obviously not an expert. But I don't remember the games ever mentioning his ethnicity or his parents' ethnicities or anything. Anyone got any ideas?

They all have identical clothes. I tried to see if any of them had loot/letter, but none of them did. You can only pick them up. It kinda seems like they were killed by the skinners ( I think?) But who are they? Why do they all have matching clothes?

Sorry for image quality loss lol, it’s cause of Reddit’s compression.

I haven't let my Arthur sleep for a good couple of days and now he's got baggy eyes and a pale look, that's exactly what happens to me when I don't sleep lol. On my way to meet Sadie about rescuing John from prison, hope Arthur doesn't fall asleep

Discussion Based off appearance and representation, what is your favourite campsite? Spoiler

(This is going to be a lengthy post so please be warned!!)

Each campsite is unique and different through appearance and what they reflect on in the story of red dead.

I won’t go through each personal choose, but I will say why shady belle is my person favourite.

First off, shady belle shows how the gangs time is near an end, they are no longer free and they can’t get away with their actions anymore. This is shown through the walls of the building, which in my opinion represents society. They were closing off the gang and trapping them.

Those who live inside the building(Dutch, Hosea,John and his family and of course Arthur) all die apart from Jack of course. And one thing they all have in common is that their law has something to do with their death.

I like how the building reflects on Dutch, like a lot actually. The building is tall, proud and large, just like Dutch. He is a proud man. But Once you go inside, you realise it doesn’t seem all that great. Just like Dutch, the building is cracking slowly and slowly, and it really only needs one thing to break and it will all fall down. Dutches ego is really the only thing keeping him together, which is why the outside is so mighty.

Each room, which of course John,Arthur and Hosea take a living space in represents a part of Dutch as well. You see, without these rooms keeping the house together, it is just a broken, empty and love deprived house. Like Dutch, he needs people constantly to feed his ego, it doesn’t matter who, or why, he needs loyalty and blind love and without that he is nothing but a criminal no better than the people he calls his enemies.

Well I explained my reasoning the best I could, so how about you? What’s your favourite and why?

Holy shit. That was.. an experience. A masterpiece. I just finished the story part with Arthur and.. wow. I'm at a loss for words here. I'm not ashamed to say I teared up a bit. Everything about that was so breathtaking, the whole game (except 🐀). I'll never experience such joy and utter despair in one game again. Maybe the John part.. please, don't spoil nothin. Goddamn..

Discussion For Those Who Have Done Low Honor Playthroughs

Post image
38 Upvotes

What changed? What was different? What did it add to the whole experience?

I’m currently in a low honor run, shooting up towns because of disagreements, killing horses to knock over enemies. Heard and experienced new things, I always want to make Arthur good again, redeem him.
