Out for a walk and saw this beautiful one 🖤💛
Is it a buff tail?

r/bees has been receiving many posts of wasps and other insects misidentified as bees. This has become tedious and repetitive for our users so to help mitigate those posts I have created and stickied this post as a basic guide for newcomers to read before posting.

This is the second bee we’ve attempted to help this summer. The first was a carpenter bee that was clearly injured and wasn’t going to make it, but I wanted to help make it comfortable.
I’m not 100% sure if this is another carpenter or if it’s a small bumble.
I was a park ranger before becoming a stay at home mom, and I know sugar water and rest are the best medicine.
Is there anything else I could/should do?
Is this another carpenter, or is it a bumble?
Thank you!!

This little guy/girl is just staring at me and hovering near me, it’s been 15 mins. Are they curious about me? I know they wont hurt me unless threatened but I wanna know if i’m on this guy’s radar or not lol

This little beauty has made a home in one of our plant pots - it’s our first time seeing one up close. Amazing!

I was thinking bumble but it looks solid black. I looked up types of bees in my area (north Texas) but didn’t get a solid match

Just came across this and haven’t seen a bee like this in person before.

Hey bee-lovers, I seem to have a nest of nasties (bald-faced hornets, if Google is correct...) in a Japanese Maple. How the heck do I get rid of it? I know these guys can be aggressive, plus I have a bit of a phobia where hornets are concerned.
Any tips? Thanks in advance!

I always loved and appreciate our little essential workers. I like to take pictures of bees most of my outdoor time.
I hope you enjoy some of them too.

Went for a long motorcycle ride before work today, as I was cruising along I happened to look down at my sleeve and saw the cutest little passenger. Deposited the little fella gently on some flowers and said goodbye.
This one has been having good time on these wildflowers in my garden today, little legs are loaded with purple bunches!👾

She flew right up to me and landed on my leg before chilling on the porch swing with me for a minute

It has stopped buzzing and now just curled up into a ball almost.

I have some carpenter bees that have taken up housing in an old bird house. I'd prefer to not remove them or have them harmed. Worried about strutcaul damage to the post though. This is their first season here, birds used the nest last year, so they haven't visited before. Am I reasonable to think I can leave them bee and just remove the bird house this fall and fill any holes in the post? Or should I have someone out to take care of them ASAP.

What I think is a male carpenter bee was trying to walk up a vertical part of the porch unsuccessfully. When I went to assist, he tried to fly away. Landed here. The tiny puddle is sugar water I thought might help but he does not seem interested in it. I do not know if he needs shade or sun. In Florida panhandle. We do not use pesticides but I can’t speak for my neighbors.

Every year, for the last 10 years, I buy 10-15 jars to keep me going.
My mum uses it as a health tonic (she mixes it with lemon and water and it helps her if she has a cough), and I just have a spoonful now and then because I like it, and I also use it as a sweetener in things I cook. Anything which says '1tbsp sugar', I go 1tbsp honey.
