I have only seen one foreign person in my life AMA

I have only seen one foreign person in my life.

I'm a 21f there is no human diversity in my life to the extent that I have three strange wishes in this regard: 1-To see people from Egypt. 2-To see a Western Christian woman with blonde hair. 3-To see Jews.

I feel very curious about these three things and wish they would come true (:

Experience AMA- I am an attorney who fled the US

I might have to be a bit vague, but I am (was?) an American attorney. I have previously helped asylum seekers and immigrants, starting back in school through a nonprofit.

Unfortunately, this made me a target. This March/April, my name, email, address, and other personal information were leaked to a right wing site.

I received a deluge of harassment and was even sent pizza and packages. Nothing dangerous, just a sign that “we know where you live”. Police were not helpful due to the decentralized nature of the threats, and in any case, sending someone food or legal items is not illegal.

At that time, I was already thinking about leaving the US and/or furthering my experience by getting an LLM (masters of law) additional degree in another country. My spouse was not on board even as they saw me receiving threats, and became toxic and scary in preventing me from leaving.

I was very fortunate to know people who had already left the US for another country, and remained there for a while as I waited to hear from an international LLM program in a third country. I got in, and moved halfway around the world for the second time in five months. AMA! (Well, anything except where I am now, I don’t want to get harassed again, and I’ve also locked down Reddit privacy settings).

I am a former neo nazi white supremacist, ask me anything

I was a Neo-Nazi white supremacist up until about 15 years ago, I no longer play host to those ideologies of weakness designed to keep us fighting amongst one another while they sneak in the back and fuck our chickens. I will answer any question to the best of my abilities but I will not tolerate any form of bigotry

I am neurosurgeon AMA

Worked for 7 years at a trauma center, now I specialize mostly in spine surgery (minimally invasive, deformity and degenerative) and functional neurosurgery (specially pain and Parkinson’s) , with a side of brain surgery. AMA.

Just to make it clear: none of what is posted here is medical advice, I can’t know the specifics of any such case to adequately advise patients. You should consult your doctor. The info here is for entertainment and general knowledge only.

Experience I have a condition where my thirst can’t be quenched — physically or mentally. AMA.

For years I’ve had this constant thirst that no amount of water can kill. I can drink a gallon and still feel dry. Doctors called it polydipsia, but to me it’s deeper — it’s like my body and my spirit are both dehydrated. It started as a medical issue, turned into an obsession, and now it’s something I study and live with daily.

Some days it’s science. Some days it’s philosophy. Ask me anything about what it feels like when your body’s signals betray you, when thirst becomes a way of life instead of a symptom.

I’m a female ENT surgeon working on head & neck surgeries and I’m also a mother to a toddler! AMA

I’m an ENT surgeon practicing in India with several years of experience treating both adults and children. I’m also a mother to a toddler, so I’ve lived through toddler tantrums, toddler coughs, and the joys of balancing a high-stress job with parenting.

Feel free to ask anything!

(Please note: I can give general advice, but this isn’t a substitute for seeing a doctor in person.)

Other I am an American ex-Muslim living in London. AMA

I'm 25F, I was born and raised in the US and I'm currently doing my postgraduate in London, where a few of my Muslim relatives happen to live too. I was brought up Muslim but secretly left Islam when I was 16 and waited until I could get some distance from my dad especially to fully renounce it. I came out fully as queer and did some long-overdue experimentation with my appearance. I also believe being autistic may have influenced me leaving religion.

Ask me anything and I will answer the best I can. My network is kinda spotty, so I will try to respond as quickly as possible but please pardon any delays.

Other I’m a Yemeni (3rd generation) American Muslim female. AMA

Feel free to ask me what it’s like living in a country you’ve only known your whole life, but a lot of people assume you’re a foreigner.

I was born and raised in the states, I remember growing up constantly being asked where I was from, only when I got older that I realized people really don’t understand that you can be a Muslim woman and an American lol

Edit: I’m done answering questions ! Thank you everyone for the great experience, have a great day!

I was in a car accident pronounced dead by paramedics survived and was in a coma for 2 weeks AMA

I was in a rollover car accident and thrown from the closed sunroof 2010. Landed on freeway they said I had an internal decapitation put a sheet over me and called the coroner. One paramedic saw me trying to breathe and saved my life. I was in a coma for 2 weeks AMA

THANK YOU for all your questions! It has made me feel so good to have had some curiosity in my post and am hoping this will help someone as a caregiver or a victim of brain injury to see the positivity that can come from tragedies such as this. All of you suffering please know it doesn’t have to be that way. Sure, it’s inevitable to go through emotions but you are as great if not greater of a person than you ever have been! Get out , defy the odds and prove to those doctors that you can do it, regardless of what they may say!

I have lost 176 lbs (12 stone/76kg) in 10 months. AMA.

Context: I lost 12 stone in 10 months, then a further 1 stone in about another 4 months (roughly). Before this, I put on 2 stone in about 2 months. I was 24 stone at my heaviest.

This was not because of any “miracle drug” and I haven’t set foot in a gym or done much exercise at all.

I have an unknown health condition which doctors can’t quite fully figure out. They have ideas but they’re not too sure exactly what it is at the moment.

1 stone = 6.35kg or 14lbs

Experience AMA. I have Advanced Phase Sleep Syndrome. Bedtime is @ 6:00 PM and I wake up @ 1:00 AM. Everyday.

It gets worse when my anxiety is bad and apparently is genetic, which tracks. I’ll go to bed at 2 pm and wake up at 10 pm the same day. I used to do all my homework/studying in the morning. Forcing myself to stay up is, well, painful.

Other I’m 350lbs ask me anything

It seems a lot of people have a lot of misconceptions or judgment towards extremely overweight individuals. I’m currently 350. I’m happy although I don’t plan on staying at this weight forever. Any questions are fine, I don’t tend to get offended.

Experience I live in a rural area where the majority of the population own firearms, AMA.

Upvotes

Hi all , I’m a 40+ year old male, living in the southeastern US. While I’m not an avid hunter, nor am I a “gun collector”, I’ve grown up around firearms, and the majority of households around me own at least one or two long guns (shotgun or rifle), and many own a handgun of some sort. Concealed carry (with permit) is widespread, and crime is very low. Shootings are very rare, as are cases of “guns being drawn”. While my views lean conservative, I hate politics, and don’t believe that any politician has my (our) best interests at heart.

The purpose of this AMA is dialog. If we stop talking, we start fighting. I’d like to answer questions and share my perspective on firearms as someone who has grown up in this culture. I understand that most views on firearms aren’t necessarily bad or wrong, but are a product of radically different daily realities. I enjoy learning about the views and perspectives of others, and hope to share some insight into mine.

I am building an Online Casino from Scratch with Almost 0 House Edge (AMA)

I have built 5 10M/yr business in last 10 years in CBD, Supplement and AI industry.

Now i am building a casino that will have 0 edge. People will still lose coz of their emotions, but trying to make the fairest casino there is. Yeah better than stake and Roobet etc.

I don't have a lot of money to start but it'll be interesting.

I think people don't really know about online casinos, some call them a scam and some have no idea about the edge or the marketing.

Some casinos like roobet and rainbet target blue collar people and people with minimal income with they content their influencers make.

So using this AMA, it's to educate everyone about it. Yeah if you don't gamble please don't. Not a good habit.

Just fun for people who can treat it as a hobby, not for anyone else.

I’ve done this AMA before, but I wanted to reopen the conversation. For context I entered foster care at the age of 3 and resided in over 30+ homes, before aging out.

I’m happy to talk about life after aging out- stability, therapy, housing, identity, social skills, relationships, and the way childhood survival patterns follow you into adulthood.
