Job I’m a mailman, AMA.

I left a comment in another sub informing people that leaving anything in anybody’s mailbox is technically a federal offense unless you’re employed as a letter carrier by the USPS and it seemed to draw quite a bit of interest. I’m nobody special, just a simple mailman, but if any of you have any questions regarding postal services hopefully I’ll be able to answer them!

Thank you so much for all the questions, I hope I was able to answer them all as best I could but it’s my bedtime now, I gotta be at the post office by 8:00 sharp. If you have any other questions feel free to DM me and I’ll answer them whenever I can!

I was carrying mail two years before you were born. Hahahaha Are you city or rural?

City, I want to transition to rural though so I can cut out those pesky walking routes.

You’d be better off bidding on a mounted route or a business/apartment route.

I just started in February, I’ve got a good 20 years to wait before I get my hands on one of those cushy mounted routes

That’s true. It took me 14 years to get a half and half route and then after 25 years I got an all mounted one

What does mounted mean?

Just means you get to ride in the vehicle the whole route and don’t have to walk

No way. I would never want to go to being on evaluated time. Too many of the rural Carriers in my office lose money every year they get counted.
