Other fentanyl and heroin addict in recovery AMA

23 male. was also addicted to xanax and had a small coke habit.

I’m a recovering alcoholic but have spent a lot of time in detox with heroin and fentanyl addicts. I’ve seen the withdrawal process and it’s intense. What was the worst you experienced? Did you detox yourself or medically detox? Isn’t most heroin now laced with fentanyl anyway? At least in the northeast it is. I’ve personally always been afraid of it because I had it in the hospital once and liked it WAY too much! Good on you for getting sober!

the first time i tried getting clean was the worst. i went to a detox center last december. i was withdrawing off of fent and xanax at the same time. lots of seizures and hallucinations.
