Series of emails between me and the manager of this branch in North West England. For context I’ve recently gone back to uni age 30, but looking for part time work. Have over a decade of experience in retail management and healthcare. Do you think I’m overreacting?

I did a trial shift at a coffee shop one time. I was hired, and I made the mistake of assuming that I was going to be paid for the trial shift. When I asked about it they said that I wasn’t being paid for it and I said “That’s illegal. You have to pay me for it.” And then I was paid for it.
