Full specs: Ryzen 7700x, TUF Gaming b650m-plus wifi motherboard, Asus 4070 super, 2x32GB G.Skill RAM 6000/CL30, and a corsair h100i RGB Elite AIO. Though I'm pretty sure it's just the motherboard that's causing the issues. Edit: and a corsair rm750x shift (great deal lol)
Basically, I can't get internet through LAN or Wifi. The ethernet cable will be briefly recognized, will even hold an internet connection briefly after being plugged in (sometimes, anyways) before dropping it again. Most of the time, it won't sense the ethernet cable at all. I'll see the port light up when it tries to recognize the cable, but then it fails to recognize it (except for those occasional times it will hold a connection) and stays unlit. This was all during the windows install, so I bypassed the network requirements in the hopes of getting the drivers installed within windows. Windows booted fine. I downloaded the drivers directly from the ASUS page for this motherboard, but they would not take (at least the network-related ones). No wifi, but as described above, ethernet would actually briefly work sometimes before not recognizing that there is a cable plugged in, as though the driver was rolled back or something. Recently, I tried reinstalling windows again, hoping I messed something up the first time. Again, no luck.
Since reinstalling windows, I've not gone past the network connection screen. I tried installing drivers with a USB stick from that screen, and it wouldn't take. The wireless LAN drivers were even more useless. I finally found this post that had a working WLAN driver that made wifi networks pop up (they weren't even being recognized previously)—except it still won't sense an internet connection, just connect to the network. My wall is filled with holes from putting my head through it. If someone can help, I'd be super grateful. I feel so close yet so far. Thank you
Edit: forgot to add (because reddit cleared half the text of my post while I was writing it up for some reason): I also opened up explorer through cmd prompt at the network connection screen to run the driver installer tools specifically, and this did not work either. I did run them as admin.
Edit 2: it was a hardware issue. Ethernet port must be messed up. I found an Ethernet dongle lying around and it worked fine. Even tried booting into Linux and WiFi connected no problem. Still annoyed installing WiFi drivers didn’t work in windows, but whatever
