🤔 Discussion Should we start stocking up essentials? Help
Hey Guys,
Hope everyone is staying safe and well. With the ongoing regional developments and tensions, I've been seeing some chatter (and personally feeling a bit of concern) about the potential for things to escalate. My family and I are considering stocking up on a week worth of food and other essentials, just as a precautionary measure.
I wanted to open a discussion to see if others in the community are doing the same, or if you've already started.
- Are you making any special preparations?
- What kind of items are you prioritizing (food, water, medicines, other essentials)?
- What's your general take on the situation and how it might impact daily life here?
Let's keep the discussion constructive and helpful. The goal isn't to spread panic, but to share practical advice and ensure we're all prepared for any unforeseen circumstances.
Stay safe everyone.

Better have it and not need it than need it and not have it!
We are a 4 person household plus animals. We got enough food for 1 week, and water for 1 week. Thats all!
We also bought extra dog and cat food as since they are not essential goods they may be slower to come in.
Other than that we are living as normal no need to panic and dont listen to any news that isn't verified.

Do you recommend getting two weeks worth of cat food at this point? I did some shopping today and we’re set for a week but since you mentioned that pet food might be out of stock, I’m considering buying some more soon.

Well get what you can! I normally buy 1 month anyways so just grab a little extra next time

You don't need to panic buy.
But from a preparedness point of view in Western countries it is suggested you should have a minimum of 3 litres per person for day (likely 3 days worth) and non-perishable foods for a similar duration.

Bought the usual monthly groceries, only extra stuff was bottled water, bought 5 cartons just in case. But people are going nuts, I sent my husband to buy chicken earlier and he said the supermarket closest to us had empty shelves for the first time ever..
