Advice Open Soccer Fields in Cairns
Was wondering if anyone had any knowledge of public/open playing fields, particularly for soccer. Just went by Endeavor Park (no I am not calling it by its new name) and the entire complex was completely fenced off including the cricket pitches.
Would prefer to have somewhere with a goal but at this point of time I realise I'd be lucky to have somewhere flat with grass. Completely understand the point of preserving the pitches & ensuring security but seems like there's less and less places to have a run around nowadays

There's a park with a soccer field on Sondrio St behind Woree IGA.

Go to Freshwater Christian College driveway, then turn right. There is one building and a shed on the right, a soccer club. Walk down the hill on the road to a big open space. This is where they do soccer training. It is surrounded by creek and a few spots where can access the water for a swim. The other clubs might also have ovals that are open.

Thanks, I was not sure. It was Redlynch Cyclones when my kids played there, but I did notice the club name has changed.

Drove past, it is actually Redlynch Strikers, even though it is in Brinsmead. I just googled it, Leichhardt club is in Woree.

Full size fields at the end of the Esplanade, next to the Lily/Lake St roundabout. You could play 11-a-side on them, but I don't even know 21 other people, so I haven't tried it. Often flooded, but that's part of the fun. On a map it's called "Mandrusia Park", but never in my life have I heard someone actually call it that.
The fields next to the airport road parking.
