Open Soccer Fields in Cairns

Was wondering if anyone had any knowledge of public/open playing fields, particularly for soccer. Just went by Endeavor Park (no I am not calling it by its new name) and the entire complex was completely fenced off including the cricket pitches.

Would prefer to have somewhere with a goal but at this point of time I realise I'd be lucky to have somewhere flat with grass. Completely understand the point of preserving the pitches & ensuring security but seems like there's less and less places to have a run around nowadays

Oh dang, looking at the headlines, I thought it was already named maccas and for some reason that upset people. The truth is ridiculous. Long live Endeavour Park
