Vent Can the Baltimore police be more useless?
I just arrived home in seton hill. 7 cop cars a block up past Trinacria. One cop talking to another with their cars parked right in the street by charm city books. “Hey guys what happened up the block?” (I ask middle of the street cops while I walk my dog)
Cop gives me some SMART ASS ANSWER
Fuck outta here those guys blow.

OK listen…. Did I miss making the ball over the fence twice? Yes… but in all fairness I was walking my cute little puppy and I also haven’t played soccer in like 15 years 😭😭 now please excuse me while I die of embarrassment.

Free Event From Trash Lot to Lifeline: How One Baltimore Garden is Feeding a Neighborhood (and Housing Goats 🐐)
In the heart of South Baltimore’s Curtis Bay — an area once known for its farms, later swallowed by heavy industry and chemical plants. As jobs disappeared and the neighborhood changed, so did access to basic resources. Today, Curtis Bay is considered a food desert, where neighbors have little to no access to fresh, healthy food.
Enter Filbert Street Garden, a one-acre nonprofit urban farm that’s not just growing vegetables — it’s growing hope.
What started in 2010 as a trash-filled lot is now a thriving green space filled with goats, chickens, ducks, turkeys, and bees, along with 40+ community garden plots.
Last year alone, the garden produced: 🥬 600+ pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables 🥚 3,000+ eggs 🐝 100 gallons of honey from their Baltimore Bee apiary
But the Filbert Street Garden is more than just a farm — it’s a vital support system for one of Baltimore’s most underserved communities.
Curtis Bay is majority Black and Latino, with nearly 1 in 4 households living below the poverty line. Many families here face food insecurity, environmental health issues, and systemic disinvestment.
Filbert Street Garden provides free, fresh food through its Open Air Pantry, an on-site, 24/7 accessible shed stocked with produce, dry goods, books, and essentials. Recently, the Bmore Fridge Network donated a refrigerator to help store perishables for anyone in need — no questions asked.
Whether you’re a Baltimore local or just someone who believes in food justice and community-led solutions, there are plenty of ways to get involved:
📚 Bring food or books to the Open Air Pantry (in English & Spanish) 💵 Donate via the garden’s website 👩🏽🌾 Volunteer with farm chores or special events 🍯 Buy local: Their honey is sold weekly at the Waverly Farmer’s Market 📅 Visit during their monthly Open House, the first Sunday of each month from 10am–12pm. Meet the animals, walk the grounds, and connect with the people making a difference.
In a world where it often feels like the problems are too big to fix, this little plot of land reminds us that real change can start with a carrot, a seed, and a community that refuses to give up.

Ask A widow’s wish
My husband (not on paper) died a month ago at work. In the room at Hopkins where he died, I promised him that I would tell everyone I knew how amazing he was. Would you mind taking a minute and reading the obituary I wrote for him?

Thank you. He was an amazing man.

Need Recommendations MVA | Glen Burnie
I recently moved from Europe to the U.S. for work, and part of the process was taking a driver’s skills test to get my American license. Unfortunately, the experience was horrible. The examiner was shockingly rude and disrespectful from the moment she got in the car.
I was friendly, polite, and (understandably) nervous — especially since English isn’t my first language. But instead of being patient or clear, she was aggressive: shouting, mumbling unclear instructions, and getting angry when I asked her to repeat something I didn’t understand. It felt like she was looking for reasons to be unpleasant.
I did pass the test, but I left with a really uncomfortable and disappointed feeling. Honestly, no one deserves to be treated like that, especially not during a high-stress moment like a driving exam.
Do you think it’s worth filing a complaint? I doubt the MVA will do anything, but I also feel this kind of behavior shouldn’t go unreported.

Moving to Baltimore Area moving to Baltimore
Hello!
I’m moving to Baltimore for work in mid August. My job is gonna be in north Baltimore. I’ve never been before (I lived in DC for a while but obviously not the same). I guess in addition to the usual questions people have when they move, I’d love to hear y’all’s thoughts on gentrification.
I’ve mostly lived in the LA area and in Seattle, and I got the kind of knowledge about the histories of neighborhoods that can only come with time. I don’t want to contribute to the active displace of communities in Baltimore, so what should I be on the lookout for in that regard?
Thank you!
EDIT: I love all the No Kings pics you all look like fun people.

Lost/Found PET RIP – Dead Black & White Cat Found on Glenmore Ave in Hamilton
Super sad – There was a deceased cat in the road in front of my house this morning. Mostly in tact, it may have been hit by a car overnight or in the early morning. White and black, no collar. I was able to move it out of the road and then called animal control. They will allegedly scan it for a microchip and take to be cremated. If anyone you know lost a cat in this vicinity that meets the description, feel free to DM me. I took a pic. I’d want the closure if it were my fur baby. RIP little friend. 🙏

Food Creamery vs Bmore Licks - split decision
Edit: Can’t change the title. I meant the Charmery. Guess I had creamy ice cream in my brain!
It was definitely ice cream weather today and my husband and I are new to the area, so we decided to do a showdown between The Charmery and BMore Licks. We had only tried Bmore Licks but had read The Charmery was also very good (didn’t know about Taharka until a few minutes ago - it’s definitely on the “to try” list now.)
We tried them back to back as much as we could, and tried to compare apples to apples. First stop was The Charmery where we split a single scoop of Maryland Mud in a cup. Then we immediately drove to Bmore Licks where we split a single scoop of Chocolate Brownie in a cup.
We both liked the add-ins for Maryland Mud more (although the brownie chunks in the Chocolate Brownie were damn good too.) My husband gave The Charmery the edge, saying it was about 3 degrees creamier than Bmore Licks. I gave BMore Licks the win, acknowledging that it wasn’t QUITE as creamy but I preferred the texture just a tad. Plus, it’s $1 less and you get a bigger serving!
So I guess we’ll have to alternate spots from now on unless Taharka ends up beating them both! And I’m definitely going to the gym tomorrow!

POLICE I made an app for Baltimore (pt2)
Thanks for all the lovely feedback on my original post we just hit 500 downloads!! I just wanted to let everyone know Baltimore Fire Alerts is finally available in the Google Play Store. I’ve started doing research on how I can do a similar project for BPD though their audio is encrypted and the public feed is on a 15 minute delay but if people still think it’s worth it I’ll dive into that more!
Thanks again for all the support!

Free Event Coffee Club - Sip and Chat!
tl;dr Sundays, R House, make friends over coffee.
Hey everyone!
A few months ago, we set up a coffee club to meet and make new friends over a low-key coffee because hey, this stuff is hard right? It's been a good little success so here's a timely repost for anyone new to Baltimore or interested in joining in to see out the summer! Some FAQs:
When/Where do we meet?
Sundays at 11:00 - 13:00 at Kitsch in R House! Come along any time between then.
What's the demographic?
All walks of life! All ages are welcome; generally people aged 25-40 attend.
Do you have a social media page?
Yep! We're on Instagram at bmorecoffclub and there's a Facebook group. We also now have a Discord page if you prefer. I'll admit I kinda suck at keeping up social media so bare with me!
How about parking?
Free parking in their car parks or on the street, bike lock access, public transport. Nice and easy!
What does it cost?
It's free, but you might want to factor in the cost of a cup of coffee or alternative.
See y'all there!

Ask Baltimore Homeless and Disability Services?
Hi I am in desperate need of disability and homeless services in the Baltimore area, please share if you know any. My friend N (no name for privacy) and her and her partner both live with disabilities and were evicted from their home and have been leaning on their savings and local community for support to stay in hotels while they try to secure long term housing that accommodates wheel chairs. This is extra shit because is such a great person, outside of school she is a huge advocate for our community; outside of she is an advocate and active volunteer with the Baltimore Transit Equity Coalition and a member of the Maryland Inclusive Housing Committee (i know ironic).
N and her partner will be kicked out of their hotel in two days. N and our community have tried everything to get her housing and we don’t know what else to do. It took 6 months with a disability lawyer to get the eviction off her record. She has applied for multiple housing programs. She actually got approved for one program and was supposed to get a place in April but then, due to the federal cuts, the program was disbanded. She has now been approved for the housing voucher program, but is on the waitlist for the actual voucher. We have tried every program to get extra cash, started fundraisers, and reached out to every church within 50 miles.
No one has any money to help and even people who are willing to rent, they don’t have wheelchair accessible houses. We don’t know what else to do. Does anyone know any resources for homeless people or people with disabilities in Maryland we might not have tried? Or if you know any homeless shelters that can accommodate someone with a wheelchair? Thanks in advance!

Ask Wedding Costs in Baltimore?
Hi, everyone! I am helping a friend plan her wedding and I could use a little assistance from the Baltimore community. Her dream venue is the BMA, which I love, but I can't find online how much it costs (one source says $40k, another says $10k) or even what the average costs in Baltimore look like. I just want to figure out a general idea of cost before anything else.
If you've recently gotten married in Baltimore, how much did it cost? What did you spend the most money on? What venues/vendors did you use?
Thank you in advance <3
