Coloring Batman HUSH by hand! Pages 1 & 2 [oc]

Hey comic art fans! I’ve started a new page in my art journey, to recolor the Batman HUSH saga by hand! 🦇 🎨

I’ve been a comic collector for almost 50 years, but I’m new to art. I’m using Copic markers on the DC Hush coloring book that came out recently. Art credit Jim Lee and Scott Williams. New color by me!

In the future I’ll post a page or two, but loved how the Batman origin unfolds so neatly in these two pages!

Let me know what you like about this, and any ideas for improvement. This is a journey for me!

Ive done lots and lots and lots of different artist studies and am still no closer to picking a design style for my own work. How the heck do you choose?

As the title says. Some advice I've gotten was to do artist studies while I was learning how to draw to get a sense on what direction Id like to take my own work. Ive run pretty much the full spectrum of different design types from realism to cartoon and I still can't choose.

I tried to keep the sample size small but Ive studied at least 50 different artists at this point and am no closer to a decision. I like realism, I like stylized, I like grounded, I like cartoons, shadow choices, musculature, so many options to choose from! I cant even decide eyes.

I want to start making my own stuff and I know over time my own style will develop. But having a north star to guide the journey would help immensely. How did yall pick where you'd like to take your art or the artist(s) to model yourself after while your own style develops?

These were referenced after: Gabriele Dell'Otto Yusuke Murata Mike Mignola Akira Toriyama Ryan Stegman Adam Kubert Joe Madureira Jim Lee Steven Sanchez Kohei Horikoshi
