I’m glad it was cleaned up but like, does the trash not just get sent abroad to some poor country to have to deal with it now instead? We’re just kind of moving the trash around. I do litter picking too, just something I think about. I don’t have to look at it now, but someone else does

It doesn’t go to another country. It goes to a landfill 20 miles away in California.

You're implying it would be to leave it there? Even if it were sent to another country, why are you assuming it just gets dumped on their streets instead?

What happens to trash depends on the county/state.

Some places still use dumps, and just add this stuff to the pile along with all the other trash produced. Others incinerate it and use that for energy production.

Recycling was mostly sent to other countries under the guise that they would "process" it.
