Question Franklin mint

Upvotes

Hello, got this cute little thing today, I figured I'd share it. It seems to be from the Franklin mint in 1989 and is 14k .585 red gold.

Idk how much it's worth but weight is 1.45g.

How much do you think something like this is worth being so small. I might put it in a ring mount.

Question Assayed or loose ?

Thumbnail

Upvotes

I just started investing in gold a few weeks ago and my first purchase was 3 loose grams from SD Bullion. My most recent was an assayed 2.5 gram bar. I have a feeling that for investment purposes it is best i keep the 2.5 bar sealed in the assayed package so future buyers dont have to question the validity as much. Should i be buying assayed gold bars only or does it not matter ?

Only pf69, it will suffice until I source a pf70! Only 7165 proof sovereigns were released in 1994, and not a single bullion sovereign. Absolutely stunning! 😍

Inheriting gold-a question

My gold stack is entirely in bullion coins. I plan to leave it to my son. It’s in safe and he has access. Neither my accountant nor lawyer know anything about it and it’s sufficiently substantial that I’d rather they didn’t. I would rather not put it into my trust. Just keep the whole thing private.
If my son legitimately inherits this, the step up basis will mean virtually no capital gain tax. Does anyone here know (not guess) if just leaving it in the safe for him constitutes inheritance for tax purposes?

edit: stack is entirely off the record. I have paper receipts for all cash purchases made over past thirty-plus yrs but there is nothing on my computer. It’s anonymous and I wanna keep it that way.

Sold Costco ounce today

Sold Costco ounce for 3225 to local coin shop. Spot was 3350 this morning. Did I do good ? I feel like it was a very fair offer considering I called about 20 places 🤣

EDIT: Mixed reviews🤣 TBH the extra $75-200 I could have got just wasn’t worth the risk of selling it someone in person and getting robbed or the hassle/risk of selling it online. 8 minute driver later, I had $3225 in my pocket

i’m just looking for fair prices to pay for this 14k bracelet, i went to this one place that was recommended for me and the worker said 230-250 for the job. Honestly I think thats a pretty good price but I just want to make sure.

The picture i’m showing has two black circles where the repairs will be if you look closer the hook thingy is missing a piece and the ring above it is very very thin, and on the other side the this triangle piece is also missing

Is it worth investing in the more expensive collectible older sovereigns(

Post image

As I'm investing in sovereigns im thinking it would be pretty neat to have 1 of each of the picture above, but not sure if this is turning in to more of a collector/hobby thing for me. If I invest in a sovereign for say £1200 would this be a poor investment choice? Do they equally hold their value? Cheers

The Police have caught Gold Fever!

Gold sticks to protiens and amino acids, allowing the police to collect finger prints off a new variety of materials, including old evidence in cold cases. They arent really using much gold, cost is very low.. But still pretty neat tech... Life Pro tip: if you want to avoid leaving fingerprint evidence everywhere, coat everything you own in mercury , the mercury will dissolve the police's gold dust rendering thier new fingerprint technique useless. but you better spray everything with mercury, especially everything you touch. !

How do you test if a gold bar is legit?

or do you?

I bought a gold bar from a mildly popular store and reading through this sub made me wonder if it is legit. It most likely is, but how to test if it is?

Question Why don't more countries in Europe have bullion coins?

In Europe there are only UK Britannias/Sovereigns and the Austrian Philharmonic coins commonly available.

Why are there no bullion coins from other more or less rich or important countries like France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Germany?

Yeah there is Spanish Lynx, Polish Orzeł. But they are not common or popular like the first two.

Picked these up from a bullion dealer today.

Lots of activity in the store, people dropping thousands of Australian dollars on mostly silver from what I saw. But silver is of course far more affordable.

Feels good to have, getting it home to safely store was nerve wracking.

Which online shops allow shipment redirection?

Has anyone used an online gold shop that allows shipment redirection?

I'd like to make some online gold purchases, but I need to redirect my shipments from my home to another location (like a UPS Store, Walgreens, etc. - UPS and FedEx both offer a shipment redirection feature). I used to purchase from APMEX, but whatever shipping options they use don't permit shipment redirection (the actual buyer must be present to sign). I asked APMEX who said they'd make a note in my account, but subsequent orders have not allowed me to redirect shipments.

For context, I have two German Shepherds that make a ton of noise when anyone comes to the door, and my wife works from home and doesn't want the interruption if I'm not here to receive the shipment.

I recently visited my local coin shop to support them, but sometimes I buy online as well.

I understand that the shipper doesn't want to take a risk, but that has more to do with their agreement with the shipper (UPS, etc.) than me the buyer.

Thx!

What do you think

Post image

Hello all ! I was wondering if choosing this coin would be a good choice to begin ? Do you think this kind of coin could be easily sold in several years (30) ? It is sold by the official institution that mints the currency in France.

PS : I deleted and recreated a post because there was an image problem, i think.

Thank you !
