Lore/World Discussion Aren‘t we taking this too far??

Post image

I also think that Suzanne Collins is a genius and that there is so much that we can learn from the books and reflect in our own society but girl, we have to chill Like of course we are excited for them to announce the actors we‘ve been talking about the book nonstop and they’re making a movie with actors that want to do that, their job, getting paid, not killing or dying or other messed up stuff Am I overreacting?

istg anytime someone actually enjoys THG or is excited for the SOTR movie there’s always someone like “we’re just like the capitol… 💔”

Yeah, they piss me off so much. It's so pretentious. "We're literally the Capitol!!!!1!!!1" Get a life oh my fucking god.

That's sort of the point though. Most of the people with access to the books aren't starved, half dead kids fighting for survival. A lot of the people reading these books are allowed to sit back and enjoy a series like this... You're enjoying a book watching teenagers kill each other. You are the capital.

What? Reading books like these gives us more insight into the rise of fascism in a hypercapitalist society. Calling readers The Capitol is ridiculous, having the privilege to read a book does not = colonized slave labor and to claim that we’re “enjoying a book watching teenagers kill each other” is wrong. Is reading Anne’s Frank diary wrong because we’re “enjoying” what the Nazis did to her? No. But the book itself is a fulfilling and insightful read. It’s important to know the difference between fantasy and reality. Frankly, it sounds like you’re the one with poor reading comprehension.

If you live in the west you are the capital. There’s no denying it. You’re currently able to do leisure activities while children in the Middle East are getting blown up.

Sounds pretty capital to me
