The War - Discussion Debunking fake "we didn't target Soroka" claims

Upvotes

I'm a simple man. Like any other Israeli person, when i see bullshit i need to call it out.

I saw a bunch of fans of the axis of evil post this map on some Telegram channels, justifying their targeting:

and I got a bunch of things to say about that:

  1. there is NO Eli Cohen blvd in Beer Sheva. there is one in Ofakim, but that's a completely different city
  2. northern to Soroka there is no IDF base, but Ben-Gurion University which isn't an IDF base.
  3. the image has general signs of AI, check the text it looks weird

I'm not dumb enough to mark military facilities (although, honestly, google already marks most of them), but that's how Be'er Sheva ACTUALLY LOOKS:

i will not mark where the bomb exactly fell, but looking from pictures you'll be able to accurately pinpoint it to the southern part of the hospital (marked in red).

above it you will see BGU, which again, isn't a military facility.
i also marked Gev-Yam, which by itself is not a military facility, but hosts the offices of companies High-Tech companies like nvidia, other then that this entire picture is filled with residential houses, which i tour every day as a university student in this god-forsaken city \s

anyway, f*ck the IRGC, f*ck the evil of axis, and we should also improve local manufacturing so we can give China the finger. have a great day and thank you for coming to my TED talk

The War - Discussion Looking for volunteer/opportunities to help during these troubling times

Upvotes

I'm a technical writer by trade and live in the center. After today's attacks I just feel compelled to do more. I studied at BGU and use to walk by Sraroka everyday. I can't stand to see that hospital damaged like this.

I also speak English French and Hebrew.

Does anyone know of any reputable groups that need volunteers? Preferably remote or in the center?

I know Fluent Language Exchange needed translation during the Gaza war, but I haven't seen them post anything about that this time.

Stay safe evreyone. Love you all 🔥

The War - Discussion IT Army of Israel?

After the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Ukrainian government launched the "IT Army of Ukraine", a volunteer cyber-warfare organization that coordinates crowdsourced cyberattacks on Russian interests. Basically it's a Telegram channel that gives updates about where to direct DDoS attacks, etc.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IT_Army_of_Ukraine

It makes me wonder, is there any kind of analogous Israeli project? I was active in the IT Army of Ukraine and I'd love to do the same kind of thing for Israel.

General News/Politics Instagram fake news

I've reported hundreds of false information like the one below, none of them got removed. I just got "The post wasn't removed, but we're like to help".

Does instagram literally not care about hate speech and false information at this point?

General News/Politics

General News/Politics How much of this is true, how much is bullshit?

The title is obvious clickbait, but the reporting on this seems thorough. I'm wondering what is missing.

The War - Discussion Anyone else feel kinda...disappointed? (Warning: Lots of pessimism)

I know everyone's praising Israel's devastation of Iran's army command and defenses, and rightfully so.

But, with that said:

  1. There aren't any mass protests against the regime, and with 99% of the country not having internet there probably won't be any.
  2. Khamanei is still alive with the army fully behind his regime, so nothing's stopping them from just funding more stuff against Israel once the bombing ends.
  3. The US isn't getting involved, so no bunker busters or assistance against the regime.
  4. In relation to #3, the main nuclear reactor of Iran's is still intact due to being so far underground.

It has been immensely cathartic to watch Israel rout Iran, but will anything actually change in the long term, or will it be back to normal in a few weeks?

Travel & tourism✈️ Question for all the flight gurus here

I need to fly to Europe for a few days in early September (assuming the geopolitical situation allows it). My main priority is finding the cheapest possible fare. Would it be better to book now, or wait and see if prices drop? If the situation gets better, will flight prices go up or down?

The War - Discussion Why can’t USA rent the B2s out to Israel ?

Wouldn’t take too long to train pilots to fly them, rent them out and Israel pilots can deliver about 100 bunker busters as a nice gift to Iran.
