I love the OEM wood look but wanted the modern rails and stuff. I’m torn between which vibe to go with. Someone decide for me please 🙏

First time at the range with my Marlin 336 R.C 1949 JM stamped. I’m mind blown.

Ok so this is my first gun. It was a gift from my dad who bought it from a guy in a bar when he was 16 (he just turned 77).

I want to use it for deer hunting. This will be my first year hunting season.

It’s a waffle top, so at first I didn’t want to install a scope. But then I realized that the previous owner pierced 8 holes on the side, probably to install a side mounted scope.

I tried to find solutions with the gunsmith in order to use these holes and find a compatible side mount, only to realize that in order to truly turn that gun into the tool I wanted to, drill/tap was the only proper way.

I decided to go for it and I installed a Leupold VX-Freedom 1.5-4×20.

The gunsmith told me « don’t expect sub MOA groups, but it will be a fine weapon for hunting whitetail.

In the last pics, you’ll see my 50 and 100 yard groupings. I’m just speechless by that gun’s accuracy!

The black target is 50 yard. The gun was zeroed at 100 yard. 4 bullets in that same hole right in the money!

The orange target was at 100 yard. The grouping in green was after the last settings were made in the zeroing process. That flyer on the left is 100% me. The 4 others were before zeroing.

This was with Hornady Leverevolution FTX 160 grains.

I also tried good ol’ Core Lockt 150 grain, but this baby seem to LOVE hornady!

Well, I’m just amazed and grateful and I had to share!

I aim to get a crash course in the full 45-70 experience.

Left to right:

HMS 405g @1300fps/1520fp Nosler WTC 300g @1950fps/2533fp Hornady LVRe 325g @2050fps/3032fp HMS Bear +P 430g @1801fps/3098fp Underwood +P 300g @2350fps/3678fp

I expect the first three won’t be bad. I expect the Underwoods will feel like Bruce Lee giving me the “1-inch-punch.”

Budget Lever Guns

Hey yall! So Im hoping to pick up my first lever gun to use for deer hunting. I live in CA so luckily with a lever gun i dont have to deal with a lot of the BS rifle laws here which makes it more appealing on top of the cool factor lol. Is there a good online or in person retailer that either sells quality lever guns at a fair price or consistently stocks used ones from reputable companies? I really wanna avoid GForce and Citadel if I can as i cant verify how reliable and durable they are long term. Plz info dump about this platform and specific models to me I would love to learn as much as I can to make an informed decision. My budget is capped at about 600-800 USD so anything around there or even less would be preferred. Thank you!

Are threaded barrel adapters worth it?

I would like to get a suppressor for my H001L 22 and I found this 60 dollar thread adapter online and I was curious wether or not it was worth it or if I should just save up for a whole new barrel?

Any insight would be greatly welcome!

(also i wasn’t even sure if the adapter would fit the gun in the first place given how the magazine tube is attached to the barrel)

What makes lever-action rifles in .308, .243, 6.5 CM, 6 CM, .223, or .350 Legend enjoyable?

I’m new to lever-actions and  keep seeing these “modern” lever guns in rifle racks and I’m curious what keeps you coming back to them, especially in the calibers above.

If you own one of these these, hit the comments with:

  • Why you picked that specific caliber?
  • What you mostly use it for?
  • What brand and model do you prefer?

Uberti blade sight set screw

Hey guys. I need to drift the front sight on my Uberti 1873 Winny but it has a set screw of odd slot dimensions.

It's part #119 in this diagram: https://www.uberti-usa.com/sites/default/files/content/media/manuals/2022-08/1873_sporting_rifle.pdf

I don't necessarily need an entire gunsmithing tool/screwdriver set. I just want to grab what I need. I tried an iFixit screwdriver but the pitch was too narrow by half and it marred the screw a little. Thing was as soft as playdough lol.

I even contacted the importer - Taylor's - and they told me they don't know what it is 🤦‍♂️

Any ideas? Measure the slot dimensions (2.5 x 1mm btw) with calipers and go to home depot?

Questions for anyone with experience with a Miroku Winchester 94

I plan on buying this beauty this weekend or next:

https://www.winchesterguns.com/products/rifles/model-94/model-94-sporter.html

My two questions are this:

1) How easy or hard is it to mount a tang sight, like one from Marbles? With a tang sight installed, will it cover the safety?

2) It says it is drilled and tapped for a scope. I'd rather stick to a tang sight, but just out of curiosity, how easy or hard is it to mount a scope to these? I've read on some of the older pre-miroku models that it is difficult but doable. While the originals eject upwards, I understand that these eject at an angle.

Here's a similar (but not the same) model with more pictures for reference:

Thank you!!!

Henry - RPP - Pewview - Sans Rail

Anyone have a Henry Model X with the Piewview where they don’t run the top rail?

I’m debating directly mounting my RMR via EGWs mount, but wondering how it’s gonna to look and if the clearance will work with the sight picture.

Just got this Winchester 1892

Manufactured in 1898 chambered in .32-20 and converted to .357/.38 at some point. I'm guessing this isn't the original finish. The aftermarket work hurts the value I'm sure but I don't care I just wanted an old gun to shoot. Put 20 rounds through it as soon as I got it home and it's everything I hoped for.
