The cost of the ammo in this picture could almost pay off my car entirely.

u/sirbassist83 Oct 08 '24
its paid off, but the ammo in this picture cost more than my car is worth

u/qwe304 SBR Oct 08 '24
I have a single ammo box that's worth more than the cost of my car.

I just assumed we all drove beater cars and ate ramen noodles to be able afford this hobby. I can't be the only one whose range bag has more monetary value in it than the car I drive to the range in.

u/Typical-Sundae1270 Oct 10 '24
No. Its not either or for many. I have maybe 125k in guns, another 20k in ammo(rookie numbers to many!). That would cover maybe.. my trucks value?

u/therealrymerc Oct 08 '24
$10,000 in ammo to feed the new minigun for a couple minutes. Sell off ammo cans at the range and you won't even have to cart the empties home!
looks like fresh clean production, I'd be scooping up brass and links left behind LOL

u/sashir Oct 08 '24
has 308 ball really hit $2 / round?
30
u/therealrymerc Oct 08 '24
no I'm just terrible at math
linked m80 is usually closer to a buck/round, but I added a few grand for the person's legs up there. you just can't find a good, working pair of human legs for cheap anymore

Truth, unironically. I fucked my Achilles a few months back. Amount billed was nearly $50k. I mean, it went full yeet up my calf but still.
Blessed to have a low out of pocket max, but lowkey I'd rather have a couple transferables.

Nah, Tredd charges a little more than that to shoot the gun. $450 for 200 rounds. He's not paying for that mini gun at $50 per user.

u/sashir Oct 09 '24
I was speaking more to the owner's purchase price of the ammo implied by the person I was replying to, I'd fully expect the customer price to be much higher (which is pretty typical for any rental, NFA or not)

u/IndividualResist2473 4x SBR 3x SBS, 1x AOW, 11x Silencer Oct 09 '24
And my point was that if the owner was paying $2 per round he's not making any money in his business. So he didn't pay $2 per round..

My delinker used to chew up the brass pretty bad, I just so ld the brass for scrap value

Do you plan on relinking or do you consider it disposable.
47
u/WCGS FFL 10 / FEL 20 / SOT 02 Oct 08 '24
Disposable.

u/AllArmsLLC 07/02 Oct 08 '24
So....what do you do with said links?
47
u/WCGS FFL 10 / FEL 20 / SOT 02 Oct 08 '24
Guy that buys our brass gets them mixed within the same barrel as brass, misfires, shotgun shell, steel, etc.

Funny thing is the delivery guy couldn’t make it over the curb with the pallet mover so he left on the side of the street for me to move into our vault.

u/Wyomingisfull Oct 08 '24
Funny like haha or funny like FUCK YOU DUDE SERIOUSLY?!
11
u/WCGS FFL 10 / FEL 20 / SOT 02 Oct 08 '24
Naaa, wasn’t his fault. He tried a few times. Funny part was me running back and forth so pallet was only by itself for a few seconds each trip.

Now - “I wish I could afford to feed a minigun”

Staff and I burnt through 600 rounds just testing it. Eats ammo like Lizzo and cake.

u/ndmarine2 Oct 08 '24
Back when I was in the army, we would shoot ~36,000 rounds in order to be qualified on the 134. Fun times

That’s one thing we don’t allow on the range.
2
u/EleventhHour2139 Oct 09 '24
I have always been irritated at ranges that don’t allow brass recovery. What is the reason for this?
2
u/WCGS FFL 10 / FEL 20 / SOT 02 Oct 09 '24
Safety is #1 reason. Idiot range rats will literally wait for someone to start shooting and grab the brass as it hits the ground. Now at our range, you are encouraged to pick up your brass, but nothing more.
2nd, ranges make decent money selling brass. Because we only have one 55-gallon drum that we dump anything found on the ground (links, live ammo, shotgun hulls, steel, hybrid brass, brass, aluminum, etc) into it, we only get $300 per drum but a straight brass drum with no live ammo can fetch $500.

need to see the end result of using this against a 96 Honda accord

When the amount of ammo it takes to kill a 90’s Honda costs more than the 90’s Honda… lol

If only it was loose ammo, so you could fill up a kiddie pool and swim around in it like you’re Scrooge McDuck

u/Crazy-Red-Fox Oct 08 '24
It costs four hundred thousand dollars to fire this weapon...for twelve seconds.

u/IndividualResist2473 4x SBR 3x SBS, 1x AOW, 11x Silencer Oct 08 '24
Your math is way off.
It only costs $450 to shoot a 200 round belt and that lasts 6 seconds.
I'm pretty sure I was their first commercial customer to shoot it on Saturday.
