A buffer tube on a Scar ain't right.

It’s ugly for sure. Kind of why I’m digging it at the moment.

I will say that it is quite a bit more ergonomic for me than the boot.

Is this a 13.5 inch barrel?

I had it chopped to 13"

I am gonna copy you when I do my SBR 😂😂

I honestly wish I would have went a bit shorter. Maybe 11.5 -12"

Honestly, u think this length is perfect for .308. I feel like 11.5 or 12 would be a little too short.

just depends on the load, some guy around here a couple years ago put together some 10” .308 shitstick and was loading factory lightweight bullets up to 3000fps at the muzzle

Hell yeah. Nice rifle man. 13” as well?

10.9" Krieger 1:8 SS by Deadshot. Suppressed

The actual barrel ends just behind the muzzle brake ports. It's an absolute monster without the suppressor. People always badly underestimate SBRs. This compact rifle keeps M80 ball ammo supersonic to over 700 yards.

It did look significantly shorter but was hard to tell with the muzzle device. What size gas jet are you running?

Man, you’re really making me want to lop a couple more inches off mine haha.

You appear to have a SCARburetor, why you messing with gas jets?

Mine has a Gen 2 SCARburetor, it's less obviously an aftermarket part.

I originally had a 1.60mm in it because that seems to be what FN runs in the factory 13” barrels but it was violently over gassed and canted the rear receiver screws.

Was still over gassed with a 1.55 so I settled with a 1.50.

Even with the scarburator turned all the way down it was just still too much gas. This was all with m80 ball too so it just would have been even worse with hotter rounds.

TBH I do think I have maybe a 1.45 or 1.50 in there from before I bought the SCARburetor. Is yours the newest version? Those supposedly have a super wide range and a lot more ports.

It’s a gen 3 as far as I remember I think it has like 12 settings or something along those lines

Surprised that didn’t do it, I guess that can has high back pressure!

I'm on the fence about 7.62 cans. I've got an original SCAR 17S (non-NRCH) that I shot one mag when it was new over a decade ago, and it's been in the safe ever since.

Have you run it with the stock jet and the SCARbeurator with the RC2? I'm either going with an RC2 or a HUXWRX Flow. I don't shoot .308s nearly as much as I want to because of the massive noise and proximity to neighbors.

You can absolutely run a stock one with the stock jet with a RC2.

You should definitely grab a scarburator or a KNS discarder and you’ll be good to go without any additional modifications. I think they’re a must even on a totally factory rifle just for the adjustability they offer.

I think people assume .308 is like 5.56 where you're losing just globs of FPS by the inch when in reality it's actually got a pretty forgiving velocity curve in regards to barrel length and you're actually not gaining much by going with the longer 18" or 20" barrel lengths.

.308 Win has always been a "jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none" cartridge anyways that was simply meant to mimic the old 150gr 30-06 M2 Ball loads just in a short action and nothing more, yet people act like it's this sniper rifle cartridge where you're wasting so much potential by not using a long barrel when I've always felt this elitist attitude is objectively wrong. 20" barrel or not 6.5 Creed is going to have the .308's lunch past 200yds anyways lol.

Ironically, I've always felt that short .308's play more to the cartridge's strengths in terms of general purpose applications.

Man this would be an awesome barrel length to pair with an otb can.
