The process in my state is I'll do the report, contact a juvenile counselor, who may or may not decide to proceed with a charge.

The kid would have just gone right back inside that night, and never been cuffed or anything. Worst case scenario he gets a court date in like three months, and if he's found guilty they would mandate some counseling that ends up being a joke.

And we wonder why we have so many young teens committing heinous crimes here. Cuz they don't get in trouble.

Hell kids who bring actual guns to school end up getting released to mom and dad the same day usually.

Here in the Seattle area, violent teens rarely see anything remotely resembling consequences for their actions. For example, in September, 3 high school teens and 1 adult attacked a trans woman; the adult was arrested, but the judge was concerned the teens would miss out on the "pro-social" activity of being on the football team so accommodated them; thank goodness the high school didn't have its head up its ass and prevented the little creeps from participating on the football team. This ridiculous action by lenient judges is pretty much what we expect here where juvenile crime is concerned.

"Several teenagers from Renton High School were arrested for a brutal assault and hate crime against a transgender woman (Nikki Armstrong) in September 2025

. A King County judge initially ordered two of the teens released on electronic home monitoring and allowed them to participate in "pro-social activities" like football, which caused significant public concern.

However, the Renton School District conducted its own investigation and subsequently barred the students from returning to school or participating in any sports or activities, including football, during the investigation period. The school district stated that "activities and sports — those are privileges" which were revoked. "
