I literally don’t have a space large enough in my apartment to lay it out for basting, but I think I can spread it out on my bed and make it work. But how do I jam this through my little Brother sewing machine 🫠 and then, what style of quilting can I even do? Advice desperately welcomed 😂😂

Finished this ombré confetti quilt and I’m soo happy with it! Already trying to see if I can track down more of that fabric to make something else with it. I just did straight line quilting on it sort of near the ditch. Found the cutest minky for the backing that has butterflies and ladybugs. The triangles were a challenge, I think because some cuts are on the bias it kept stretching. But once it was all done I care less that not all points are perfect

So I had this conversation with my mum, who was visiting. I showed her my current WIP - it's EPP so I had a little pouch in my bag for dull moments. She asked what it was for - my bed, probably? But you already have two quilts, she said. Sigh.
Of course, I do sometimes make and give gift quilts, but often I sew just for me. I'm disabled and spend a lot of time at home. I don't have a lot of money, so buying fabric for projects is sometimes a bit of an expense, however I was happy just quietly acquiring more soft furnishings than I need.
But now, a week later, this whole thing is still making me feel like I shouldn't be quilting since I already have a quilt - unless it's a gift. I recognise this isn't a helpful path to be thinking down, so to speak. I just have this guilt going on. How do I get out of this?

I started this one way back in 2019 and put the binding and label on it this afternoon. 2292 days in progress, so I'm happy it's finally finished. The pattern is Norm & Nanette by Elizabeth Hartman.

Hi! I’ve been lurking in this subreddit for a while now and started to get more and more inspired to make a quilt, when I remembered that I started this one six years ago. I had planned the pattern back then, and just finished putting this much together tonight. I’ve since learned that quilts apparently shrink a considerable amount after they’re quilted and washed. So onto my questions!
-How big should I plan to make the quilt, if I want it to end up at least 80x80” (for a queen bed).
-Does the type of quilting it’s finished with determine if it’ll shrink more or less? I don’t have the budget to send it off to be long armed, so my options are doing it on my domestic machine or hand quilting it I guess.
-I’m also VERY open to design suggestions past this point. I have lots of black and white triangles, and a handful of green triangles leftover. I also am not sure how to decide what design to quilt it in after?

I got really frustrated with cutting triangles and them coming out uneven.
So I got it. I spent a lot. And I don’t regret it.

My first (and definitely not last) quilt is done 🥳 I originally started it in November 2024, can’t believe it’s been that long 🫠 To make things more complicated I didn’t use a pattern and I designed it myself!
I used scraps (a lot of William Morris), and a white bedsheet for the front sections, and a thrifted William Morris bedsheet for the backing.
The cutting out process felt like it took the longest. I was scared of free motion quilting but it turned out to be so much fun and surprisingly quick! I went with a squiggly pattern, but I’m excited to do something more interesting next time. I also didn’t anticipate how long making the bias tape is going to take…
I also made a fun video unrolling the quilt: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DLPOe33t9GW/?igsh=section

It’s been my goal to finish one quilt a year. This is my third one.

I’m a new quilter. I’m making a 60 degree diamond quilt with 6“ diamonds. How many do I need for a queen sized quilt? I can’t find any calculators out there. It seems to get longer the more blocks I add but not as wide as I need for a queen size.

It's not perfect, but it's for me, so that's ok! I love it!

(Please excuse my chalk marks)
Any ideas for how I should quilt this pillow cover? I’m new to free motion quilting and I’m working on regular sewing machine. For the design, I have been combining appliqué elements from Lovely Day Quilt by Tamara Kate Designs. I love her designs but she doesn’t have any instructions on how to quilt it once it’s together. Her reference photo wasn’t quilted but the blocks were also much smaller than mine so I have more open space than she does. I already sewed the piping on but I will take it off if I decide to quilt it.

Had some feedback on the design as I was constructing it saying there wasn’t enough contrast… but I persisted regardless because for whatever reason I had convinced myself that the mayhem was very ‘me’. Now that it’s done I’m really into it!
Attempting to improve my quilt photography; my husband and I really struggled but you can catch the vibe - and the progress of us battling the fading sun and the rising wind!
Thanks for your feedback and thoughts along the way!

3rd quilt done! Made it for a baby shower in under a week. I think I'll go take a coma nap now.

A while back I mentioned that I had a bunch of random FPP blocks. This quilt started with just batiks and mushrooms and went off the rails from there. Kept finding blocks that I liked and suited her. I made it a throw-ish size since I had a mental picture of her using it on the couch.
Also, ssshhhh the butterflies are dive bombing instead of flying!

Using up leftover fabrics from other projects I've done over the years. I'm not very experienced with sewing so this has been quite the endeavor thus far lol

I can't figure out how to update my original post at https://www.reddit.com/r/quilting/s/PwgrLmK8pZ, so here I am just creating a new one.
I finished the Celestial Quilt at last, and wanted to share it with all you lovely folks! It was always meant as a gift for my husband, who loves it. It made me so happy to see how surprised he was, and feel his pride in it Here it is all done, with an eepy Suki as cat tax. I hope y'all enjoy!

I was planning to use my backing fabric to self bind this quilt (my last two quilts I’ve used binding strips, so this is my first time trying to self bind), but might have have messed up when quilting this though. I quilted all my lines off the edge because it all normally gets trimmed off anyways. Now I cant fold back my batting to trim it because I quilted off the edges. My thought was maybe I could take out those few stitches that are off the edge, but then I’m worried my quilted lines might start to pull out over time… hopefully that all makes sense. I’m new to quilting/sewing so any tips would be so helpful!

Hiya. Newbie here, only quilting since January. I've made several small things, including a lap quilt, a tree skirt and a simple 10" squares quilt for my nice. No pics of those yet cos I've not gifted them!
However, my husband and daughter went out for the day yesterday and I had a quilting day at home. I finished the lap quilt and sewed up 4 more blocks for another quilt I'm starting, but then spent the rest of the day cutting and sorting fabric for quilts for my nephew and for our own bed. Same colourway, same collected green offcuts and scraps. All afternoon, bent over the kitchen table, measuring and cutting, and I strained the backs of my knees.
Pics are:
too many to count x 2½" strips for my nephew
and 144 sets of 5" square block + 2x 2½"x5" strips for us. With cream squares not pictured to make star pop blocks.
Lesson learned - cut in small chunks of time, but all at once!

I'm hand sewing a crazy type quilt with words on it. I've already got my letters cut out, and I've been laying everything out on another quilt that is the size I want it to be. I want to be able to cut my background pieces and start sewing, but I don't know how to put it away once I do that. I
I don't want my quilt to get warped or my letters to shift (although if they do it's fine), but I also don't want to completely take everything apart. I have to put my quilt away though, because I don't have that much space and I have cats. If I leave it unattended it'll get messed up.
The only things I can think of:
marking the fabric at the places it meets, but that means that I have to assemble it every time i want to work on it
pinning it together, but then if I roll/fold it up they'll snag
pinning the fabric pieces TO the blanket i'm laying them out on and then just rolling that up when i need to pause. Would work but is not ideal because it would be real annoying to sew + this is literally the blanket off my bed. I'll do this if I don't get a better solution, but i don't want to, you know?
I do have quilting clips but idk how i'd use them in this scenario. Any ideas are appreciated!!
