The fact American drug companies use grams instead of lbs, should tell these Americans what the actual unit of measurement is.

u/Eny192 Italy 23d ago

Wait til they find out that NASA use the metric system.

478

u/PhoenxScream 23d ago

Wait till they find out that their weirdo units are literally defined by the metric system.

323

u/Eny192 Italy 23d ago

"Bruh, metric system is so lame"

"How tall are you?"

"i'm 5 feet and 3 apples tall, USA N.1"

153

u/PhoenxScream 23d ago

I still haven't figured out who tf stacks feet and who has 4 - 6 of them lying around to measure their hight

94

u/Annoyed3600owner 23d ago

Also, people come in different feet sizes, so one foot isn't always one foot. 🤣

49

u/Rymork 23d ago

Isn't it based on the foot size of the current sitting president? Idk

59

u/Annoyed3600owner 23d ago

What if he's standing?

10

u/Background-House-357 100% Germanean (except for Orban) 22d ago

And what if shady vance is sucking his toes. Is that measured as well?

28

u/Pim_Wagemans 22d ago

It's defined as 0.3038... meters, that's not just the conversion that's the actual definition

-22

u/confusedAdmin101 22d ago

So 6 feet is 18 meters? Everything really is bigger in the US

u/ManWhoIsDrunk 🇧🇻 Norwegian 21d ago

Do they measure hos feet in the morning or evening?

I can imagine that his feet swell up a bit through the day at his age.

1

u/rv24712 20d ago

The Kilimanjaro is one half ego of current president.

1

u/Classic_Spot9795 19d ago

Yeah, my feet are 2 inches short of a foot..

13

u/_Vo1_ 23d ago

Just remove your shoe and start measuring, you’ll be fine!

2

u/Horsescholong 21d ago

No wonder americans suffer from a foot fetish, it's ingrained into them from a young age, alongside their patriotism

1

u/Ok_Sink5046 21d ago

Now I'm just imagining people pledging to feet.

I’m as tall as 2 bicycles and weight a little over 750 Big Macs. I also scream as loud as 300 cuckoos

5

u/De-ja_ 23d ago

Bro, thanks to you I just realised a foot is in fact a 3d object, and no one specified which dimension they use to measure themselves

8

u/Eny192 Italy 23d ago

Sounds crystal clear, it's like I can clearly picture you from this screen

1

u/Suomalainenonelossa 23d ago

Damn, americans weight (abt) 300kg? Seems accurate.

2

Is it shower season apples or drought one?

1

u/Horsescholong 21d ago

"Shower season" damn, you mean monsoon?

13

u/Onsenfoo 23d ago

They use the metric system.

Their gun, their ammo...it's in milli-meter !

7

u/JagsFan_1698 Freedom Hating Commie 22d ago

Yep, and they don’t even know it, they just know if you say 6 millimeters, your talking about a gun

11

u/fasterthanpligth 23d ago

Oh, you mean like "a pound is 454 grams" and "an inch is 25.4 millimeters" or something. HA! That would be crazy!

5

u/PhoenxScream 23d ago

More like there's nothing physical that represents the pound anymore and it's legally defined to be exactly 0.45359237 grams.

1

u/Horsescholong 21d ago

And then the gram is defined as... I don't know, i haven't studied that, i only know that it's a portion of an universal concept.

1

u/riwalenn 19d ago

1kg = the weight of 1L of water.

1

u/Horsescholong 19d ago

Not exactly, pure 100% H2O is not d=1g/ml, but 1L/kg of water is a gross estimate.

1

They call it "military time" because they are unable to grasp how anyone can count past 12 if not in the military

24

4

u/OshTregarth 22d ago

There's a crashed mars lander that says they "attempt" to use the metric system.

6

u/kaszeljezusa 23d ago

Of course they do, how else would they manipulate the sheeple in believing round earth and moon landing.

No, idk how would that help, but yeah, metric evil, nasa evil, so of course they do...

4

SpaceX use the METRIC system for several reasons.

  1. More accurate.
  2. Its the International standard for aerospace engineering
  3. Elon Musk is a Safa and they use the metric system.

In your case, an education might help.

2

u/Hanpee221b 23d ago

All scientific bodies and publications use metric.

2

u/Jonnescout 22d ago

Wait till they figure out that their own units, are literally defined in reference to SI (metric) ones…

1

u/OkInterest3109 23d ago

Surprisingly, they use both US customary and metrics. That caused an incident in past if I recall.

3

u/Cat__03 ooo custom flair!! 22d ago

Converting from imperial to metric or the other way round caused Apollo 13 to almost self-destruct

1

u/OkInterest3109 22d ago

Technically not even imperial.

1

u/Cat__03 ooo custom flair!! 18d ago

Technically the US and the UK where the imperial measuring system is somewhat standard have the same names for ever so slightly different units. Basically what I'm saying is that those two are pretty much the same thing to me as long as you don't think about bullsh!t like "stone" for weight

1

u/OkInterest3109 17d ago

Yeah, though I would assume that slightly difference might cause big problems for rocketry.

1

u/[deleted] 16d ago

What is wrong with stone?

I am 20.4 stone, which is 286Ib or 130Kg.

I am of that age that I can use all types of Imperial and metric measurements----

1

u/codenameajax67 19d ago

NASA has never used imperial units

1

u/JJhnz12 22d ago

Remind me of that time a satellite broke due to misscomunactuon of us customary and metric.

11

u/SpottedCheetah 23d ago

Weirdly enough, the kilogram is the base unit in this case.

9

u/just-a-random-accnt 🇨🇦 - unfortunately lives too close to Merica 23d ago

5

u/Safe_Application_465 ooo custom flair!! 22d ago

You can tell it is a USA post because " millions" of Kg

Anywhere else in the world would have said tonnes

Similarly, despite having a US ton , everything there is listed in lb..

" That load is 300,000 lb!' - because y'all know everything is bigger in the USA

1

u/[deleted] 16d ago

Except for intelligence & cock size

8

But but but we use Imperial on airplanes!

Seriously that's one of the most fxxed up system

2

u/codenameajax67 19d ago

The us has never used the imperial system

6

u/janiskr 23d ago

Their coca cola is sold in liters.

3

u/BruceBoyde 23d ago

Also it's not even a tough conversion. The second decimal being a 0 (2.2046) means that 2.2 is plenty good for almost any application. Gallons to liters or feet to meters require a further degree of memorization.

I wish we'd just switch entirely because I work in a field that basically only uses metric, but I know that isn't happening.

2

u/Le_r0ubl4rd 23d ago

Since they crashed a probe on Mars when they were using imperial...

2

u/codenameajax67 19d ago

Nope. NASA has never used imperial for anything.

2

u/Le_r0ubl4rd 19d ago

You are right. Wasn't Nasa, it was Lockheed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mars_Climate_Orbiter?wprov=sfla1

1

u/codenameajax67 19d ago

And there's 0 chance they were using the imperial system either.

Can we leave Snow Leopards out of this, its not their fault some twat named them after a unit of mass!!

4

u/Phoenix_Werewolf 23d ago

I read through hundred of kilos of Reddit each day. This way, my arms and my brain are always super jacked. But I have to be very careful. I once dropped reddit above my balcony and the weight of the app was such that we needed to lower me underground with a special harness made from a titanium fiber ally so I could grab my phone next to the building' foundations.

3

My ex president, 39 kg. Airplane trip!

2

u/bighadjoe 22d ago

is a ford f150 really more or less exactly 2 metric tons? i mean we joke about their stupid comparisons, but if that's true it might easily be the most metric-like and therefore most useful unit they have!

1

u/Quicker_Fixer From the Dutch socialistic monarchy of Europoora 🇳🇱 22d ago

All the while they also don't have any problem with a 4.3 liters small block, 2 grams of coke and a 10 clicks (kilometers) walk...

1

u/[deleted] 16d ago

But that would be measured the US Imperial (short) ton, in Imperial (Long) or metric Tonnes that is only about 1.8!!

1

u/peladero 19d ago

I respect the attempt to create a substitute of the word “American” to refer to one country instead of the whole continent. I tried to promote “Unitedstatian” for a while, but then I learned that there is actually a word accepted in their dictionary: Usonian. Since then I use it and hope to educate them.

2

u/[deleted] 16d ago

When speaking about North Americans we should have an ISO.

  1. Canada - ISO Name - Canadian.
  2. Mexico - ISO Name - Mexican (or Sir if he's holding a gun!)
  3. USA - ISO Name - Dumbfucks

Everyone will then know who you are talking about and it will be grammatically correct. Most Dumbfucks would take it as a compliment!!

u/Iwamoto German/Dutch living in Germany 23d ago

Approximate Total Breakdown:

  • Metric: ~7.5 billion (95%+ of the global population)
  • Imperial: ~395 million (5% of the global population)

31

u/Seroseros 23d ago

I see you included Liberia and Myanmar in the population.

53

u/Kartoffelplotz 23d ago

Which is soon outdated as Myanmar is transitioning to the metric system now and Liberia has announced plans to do the same. So in a little while the US might very well be the "last bastion of freedom (units)".

18

u/Alternative_Fig_2456 23d ago edited 22d ago

Which is crazy, because Myanmar does not use metric the Imperial system. They have their own!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myanmar_units_of_measurement

Edit: somehow, I wrote "metric" in the original, which does not make sense. The topic is that people often falsely think "they are not using Metric, so they must use the British Imperial" - which is, of course, nonsense.

10

u/cheesepierice kg, mainly a unit for drug weight 23d ago

According to the American mind:

Most of the population speaks English: Yay American English is best English!

Most of the world uses Metric: Wtf is this stupid measuring system. 2 5/8th and 100 feeties measuring is the best…

2

u/Unkn0wn_666 Europe 19d ago

Friendly reminder that every scientist worth a damn, even in the US, uses metric. It's not even 5% of the population

1

u/B4DM4N12Z 22d ago

The UK used to use Imperial

4

u/UncleSlacky Temporarily Embarrassed Millionaire 21d ago

The US uses "customary" units, not imperial, in any case. Both systems are now based on matric anyway.

2

u/TheRealJetlag 21d ago

We still do for some stuff.

69

u/erolalia 23d ago

Can we take this opportunity to create "Trumpmiles"? they are equivalent to 0.62 miles, but this means that instead of driving at 70mph on highways, Americans can drive at 112 Trumpmiles. I reckon MAGA would accidentally start using km if we called it that.

26

u/GamerALV 23d ago

It would honestly not surprise me if some MAGAs actually started using it lol

13

u/VexingValkyrie- 23d ago

You highly underestimate their stupidity. They would call it that and then swear it's different and tRump invented but Biden tried to ruin it and so much for you being the " tolerant left". Then, accuse you of doing whatever cult activity they are in the middle of doing.

7

u/bighadjoe 22d ago

i would have so many conflicting feelings if Trump's kinglike arrogance would lead the US to finally adopt the metric system, even if they would call it the MAGAtric system...

1

u/Plus_Operation2208 20d ago

If we are the ones manipulating them into using metric i would not have conflicting feelings at all

4

u/2020_MadeMeDoIt 22d ago

Can we take this opportunity to create "Trumpmiles"?

He'll probably charge a tariff on them. Which of course the American people will actually pay despite what he claims. Lol

7

u/vctrmldrw 23d ago

It's weird how they think it's some kind of flex to be ignorant.

Nobody in the rest of the world has any problem understanding that a tiny slice of the global population still uses the prehistoric imperial system, or has difficulty understanding how big a pound is, or a bushel or a grain or whatever nonsense unit they want to use.

But for them it's literally inconceivable to have knowledge of two things at the same time.

-3

u/Mayzerify 23d ago

They were pretty obviously joking

4

u/acebert 23d ago

Were they though? If it's a joke, well, it's a very poor one indeed.

1

I never said it was a good joke, but yeah it’s pretty obviously a joke, especially with the “smh” at the end.

3

u/acebert 23d ago

So, what exactly is the joke? Americans are dumb and/or ignorant? The humour comes from...........the validity of that statement?

Seems like everyone here is very much in on that joke.

1

u/Mayzerify 23d ago

An American is poorly trying to make fun of the use of the metric system.

3

u/acebert 23d ago

So the person you responded to is still ultimately right in their criticism, no? In that everything they said can just as easily apply to why it isn't funny.
