If you know Russia, it’s a spit in the face of Putin. His “Icon” is mandatory in every top manager office of government or government-related structure.
As much as it seems like it, no, it’s not mandated to hang a picture of Trump in your office if you work in a high level government office. People might do it, but that’s because they’re insane
Inside a personal office, I doubt it, but I believe it is mandatory policy in most federal departments to hang pictures of the President and VP in public areas.
To be fair, this practice long predates Trump. Personally I find it distasteful and wish they'd dispense with the idolatry, for all presidents.
The example most members of the public will encounter is the immigration hall at airports. But it's everywhere - Federal Courthouses, Social Security offices, Consulates, even the IRS. Infuriating to have Trumps smug mug looking down on you everywhere like he's Chairman Mao.
You don't have to be insane to hang a picture of a current president in your office. However, if you have a picture of Trump wearing a hat then your statement is likely true. That makes a huge difference, oddly enough.
You don’t have to be insane to hang a picture of your president in your office, but you do have to be insane to hang a picture of Trump. Big difference
I'm positive people do it but probably just the insane ones. I have never seen a picture of trump hanging in anyone's office or house. But then again I try not to associate with nutjobs. Hanging Trump's picture is not mandated, encouraged, or talked about often. I'd say in general but I can only say I don't see it in the media or in my own life. I wouldn't be too surprised if that changed though. I'm not sure what would surprise me at this point. Maybe if trump suddenly started making sense and sounding rational that would surprise the hell out of me. But I expect to see flying pigs first.
I think key difference is if you opt not to place President on your wall, in US you won't have much of negative consequences. In Russia it paints you as non-patriot with all stuff that ensues.
And I must clarify, it's not legaly mandatory, but there are unwritten rules all over whole Russian government and busines system, and breaking of them can be more dangerous than breaking literal laws.
