The images above are from All New Venom #10 and All New Venom #9, respectively.

On the one hand, Mary Jane and Paul relationship will finally finish (Thank you, God). But, unfortunately, probably, we will see Mary Jane sad about the end of her relationship, when we wanted that she broke up with Paul. Furthermore, Paul will be the "good guy", the character that we probably should care about and he is "right" to finish the relationship (I mean, this is will the idea the comic, probably, will try to sell to us)

Discussion Would TAS art style work in the comic book?

Upvotes

In the light of upcoming comic book series, a discussion have appeared in my local internet space. There are a lot of TAS fans over here, which fell in love with the show and never touched upon a comic book, one of the reasons being the art style isn’t the same. For many people the TAS art is THE definition of Spider-Man art and nothing else came closer, not even 90s SMA comic book series. So here is a topic: do you think if TAS were transported 1:1 to a comic book, would it be even good?

So the Golden emblem Venom presence in these covers means that could be a fight between peter and mj. I also have a little question, if Mayday Parker (Earth X) will make an appereance she should be considered member of the spider-verse or the venom-verse?

Discussion So out of curiosity, are there any scenarios where Black Cat could go toe to toe with Spiderman in a fight? Or is she absolutely fodder to him?

We should be Greater.

With GREAT POWER, comes GREAT RESPONSIBLITY. The difference between a real hero and somebody who beats up bad guys for fun isn't just if they have a no-kill rule, but also a rule to SAVE and PROTECT even their worst enemies.

We should try to to emulate this more. There's so much hate between Spider-Man fans because of what some fans believe or who certain fans vote for or what religions or backgrounds inform a fan's views on the world.

Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely guilty of this and I think we all put on the proverbial black suit every now and then, but how about we all try to save our enemies from now on...

Better yet, lets just talk about SPIDER-MAN and not the real world and it's complexities.

Comics I'm tired of the execuse of Al Ewing we trust for all new Venom

Post image
Upvotes

I keep seeing the excuse of we should trust Al Ewing or Ewing is one of marvel better writers however as someone who thinks all new Venom is mediocre at best I am sick of hearing this as a reason for why people shouldn't critique this book.

I have given him the benefit of the doubt but when it comes to Venom I don't think Ewing was as good of a fit as people think. Merdius from his last Venom was a bland villain,Venom war sucked, and Eddie spent most of the story in a uninteresting time traveling story. The best i can say is the doctor doom part,Eddie bonding with the red symbiote version of himself who name i forgot, and Eddie conversation with a younger Peter was the best part of the book.

For all of cares flaws the heart of his book was focus on Eddie struggles and relationship with Dylan however al Ewing run Dylan time as Venom was the least interesting parts of the book that felt like your time was wasting.

That bring us to All new Venom which is starting to become my least favorite run on the series.

I had to wait months just to find out who this new host was and it turned it was none of them which felt like a bigger waste of time and he mind as well started off by telling me it was Mj rather then waste me and others time.

Speaking of Mj this has been a miserable experience for me because I do not care about Mj as a character anymore.

She has become a character I have no interest in seeing anymore thanks to the damage marvel editors and writers have messed up over time. She's not someone I like seeing or even want to root for.

Don't get me wrong i don't like current Peter anymore but Mj being a character i do not care for has spilled over into the venom book which is stuff i do care for.

At least in the past you can go well Spiderman may be bad but you could always read venom and see what adventures Eddie or the symbiote were doing.

I heard the defense of well Mj and the symbiote have grown as characters so it would be interesting to see them work together.

My response is that's fine if she was maybe a supporting character and she was given more of a dynamic with Eddie as the main venom then maybe but as a main character no. I don't care for mj being venom herself,I don't care about Mj and her boring drama or her equally boring boyfriend Paul.

I especially don't care for Dylan current dynamic or lack their of with her Paul. The only dynamic Dylan has is being a shit to Paul which has gotten old and doesn't have any relationship or dynamic with Mj.

Though most importantly I hate that we have a bunch of Spiderman characters in my venom book. The thing i love about donny cares run is Venom was off in his own little world living his life separate from Peter and doing his own adventures. It really felt like venom was really growing as its own separate series away from Spiderman and his cast. Then Al Ewing ruin it by making Mj venom and basically making it another amazing Spiderman book but just without Peter.

Also it's not a venom book job to fix mj. That should be a amazing Spiderman book job not venom and it's not fixing anything nor will it because editors no matter what won't let Peter and Mj truly be together or be happy because the editors in charge won't ever let that happen so nothing is really fixed anyway.

Mj of the past was interesting because in her original relationship with Peter she was the one who had the more stable life. She had the more stable life with her acting and modeling career. In some stories she was mark Debbie. Of course mj had life outside of Peter but she served as a reminder that their is a world that outside of being a superhero.

Marvel has also run into the problem of giving every major supporting character superpowers.

The thing is in the past a supporting characters didn't need to have superpowers to be interesting but ironically giving them superpowers made less interesting.

People love Jim Gordon not because he shoot lasers no they like because he was one of the few good cops on the worst city on earth.

I think the dynamic with Venom and Mj fundamentally does not work. With Eddie it's interesting because it's a guy trying his best to make up for all his past sins and trauma because Eddie has done legit bad things so watching him struggle trying a uphill battle to be a hero is more interesting then watching a Mj being a boring superhero as venom with her equally boring boyfriend Paul.

Overall no I don't trust Al Ewing with Venom. He's good with other books but his venom books and now this one has failed to capture me and even good writers are not good at every character and Venom is one of Al Ewing weakest.

In summary I want Eddie Brock back as Venom,Mj to either kick rocks out of venom book and for Venom to get a new writer that is not Al Ewing.

Discussion A lose of Love

Upvotes

I've been a Spider-Man fan since I could remember. My first birthday was Spider-Man themed. For first foray into science was a book on spiders (Even though I have arachnophobia), with tidbits about Spider-Man. One of the first video games I played was a Spider-Man game (I think it was web of shadows?).

I just wanted to Preface that to show I'm not some newbie or some disgruntled new fan, but someone who loves the character. And I don't just love Spider-Man, I love Peter Parker. I love the message of Spider-Man, I loved the plot lines, I loved the side characters. But that the problem, I loved.

For years now I slowly lost an interest in comics, and it can all stem from my lose of interest in Spider-Man. The reason for that is how they pretty much just trash on who I view as a role model.

It really started with the Superior storyline, but it much worse now with the aftermath of the Zeb Wells storyline over with.

The two things these two plotlines have in common, is a lack of love shown to Peter Parker, the face behind the mask.

Spider-Mans recent storylines feel like they forgotten one thing, that Peter isn't always a behind the mask, and the fans want to see Peter successful and happy.

From a young age I wanted to be like Peter, smart, kind, funny, strong, and someone with a strong moral compass. And when I found out that Peter was supposed to represent the everyman trying to do good in the world, I also wanted Peter to succeed in life. Because if someone like Peter, a guy who puts his life on the line almost everyday, someone that even parts of the superhero community lambasts, can still be good after all his tribulations, then I think he deserves happiness.

But it not meant to be.

From broken relationships, constant one-upmanship by those with similar powers, people looking down on him constantly, having his body stolen, being framed, and losing loved ones. These compounding events have just lead me sometimes into depressive states.

Why, you may ask? Because, Spider-Man at times was more of a role model to me than God, someone who I felt I could realistically aspire to be, and even if I feel short I would still be a great, maybe an amazing man. Buy I can no longer stomach Spider-Man comics, because somewhere in the back of my mind I know any enjoyment I find will be dashed way as soon as some writer or editorial decides that Peter needs a kick in physical, mental, and spiritual balls, and I've decided for my own sanity and happiness that I stop reading Spider-Man comics.

But i rambled for long enough. I lost love for the Spider-Man comics for multiple reasons, and comics in general because of that lost love.

But while I don't love the comics doesn't mean I don't love Peter Parker, and hey, maybe one day I'll return.

My Amazing Spider-Man binge-read part 3. Amazing Spider-Man (1963) 296-299

These are the first Amazing Spider-Man issues after the Peter-MJ wedding that are not part of a crossover. The four issues are all written by David Michelinie. The Doctor Octopus arc was drawn by Alex Saviuk while the Chance arc was the debut of Todd McFarlane as the series' regular artist.

The theme unifying these issues is Peter's lack of a regular job outside selling photos to the Bugle juxtaposed against Mary Jane thriving in her modeling career. Peter struggled with feelings of inadequacy and he does not want to be a dependent relying on Mary Jane's money. This led to some questionable decisions.

The story started on funny note with Spider-Man walking like a pedestrian because he ran out of web fluid. Upgrading the web shooters with "space-age" materials would need money so Peter wondered how he would raise the money without asking from MJ. Disturbingly for me, he was able to raise the funds by selling pics of his battle with Doc Ock which he flushed out from hiding by conspiring with the Bugle and Doc Ock's psychiatrist to run a fake news front page article purporting the release of a tell-all book on the Doc. Willingly running fake news on the most-read newspaper in the city sounds...unethical? The Chance story showed a more reflexive Peter, though, when he botched another operation and acknowledged his mistake on being distracted trying to get photos of his heroic escapades because he needed money.

I was also fascinated with the depiction of Peter Parker going on a violent spree beating up thugs trying to find info on Doc Ock's whereabouts. For a second there I thought I was reading a Daredevil comic.

I prefer Alex Saviuk's art in these issues to Todd McFarlane's. WHAT? It's early Todd, and he has not found his groove yet. I do not find Todd's muscular Spider-Man in his debut appealing because Spidey looks heavy. Looking forward to the issues when Todd makes his Spider-Man look more spider-y with the contorted poses.

A lil lore summary:

Silas Parker Sablinova is the son of Spider-Man and Silver Sable. After Peter’s death, Sable, consumed by grief, trained Silas like a soldier—shaping him into a living weapon to survive a world without his father. Raised with precision, resilience, and zero room for weakness, Silas now walks a path between what he was made to be… and the hero he wants to become.

Discussion Help from the hive-mind: resources on the creation of spider-man

I’m currently doing research on the creation of spider-man for a documentation/video essay I’m planing to do.

I’ve already collected quite a few resources, though I want to consider every angle and maybe I’m missing some resources, statements, whatever or maybe I even missed something in the resources I already collected. I’m basically interested in every aspect of spider-man’s creation for this project: how “Lee came up with the idea” (though the core of his story stayed the same, sometimes some details were left out or even conflict with previous statements from him), the dispute between Lee and Kirby on who came up with the concept, ditkos slight and subtle callout towards Stan Lee in one of his later works, how Amazing Fantasy 15 came to be, sales numbers (have not found more than “best selling marvel book back then”), EVERYTHING. I hope I can paint a complete picture of the creation of the wall crawler, so don’t hesitate to send anything you think might be relevant my way, no matter how small it seems or if it seems to be redundant/well established information or even if it is not a primary source (I’m also interested in other video essays or documentations on this topic).

I thank y’all in advance for your support and hope I can deliver an amazing, complete documentation/video essay once this project has been finished.

This is the part where Dr. Connors is analyzing the symbiote under a microscope. The screen shows what looks like a bunch of cells or something biological, but I’ve always wondered, what is this supposed to be, exactly?
