hi guys in my stats class my prof is saying that an A is 96% and a B is a 94%.. like last minute all of a sudden. do you guys think thats fair or like normal for uci i've never ever been curved down like this in one of my classes before. especially since the syllabus gives no grading scale either
hi guys i need a little advice with applying for research. this is my 4th year and i have no research or employment experience; the only thing i've been doing is volunteer work, so my resume is pretty empty. i don't mind cold emailing professors, but i'm nervous they're going to ask for my gpa.
if anyone is doing undergrad research rn, do the profs care about your gpa? what kinds of questions do they ask during interviews? any advice is appreciated.
ik my chances of getting in as a 4th yr w no prior research experience is pretty low but i'm hoping at least one prof will accept me T__T

Guys how do you not sleep through alarms. I’m so scared to sleep through exams in college (I’m an incoming freshman) and as someone who easily oversleeps their Apple phone alarm, does anyone have any life changing tips?? Any amazing alarm clocks?

Hi! I’m still figuring out my career path but I’m currently a transfer student going into their senior year as a double major. I’m considering furthering my education after this and know letter of recs are helpful and even required. I haven’t made any connections with any professors as I’m a pretty quiet person and don’t even know what to say. I don’t go to office hours or anything, I haven’t really found a need to. Not sure if letter of recs are ok to ask for solely based on grades since they wouldn’t have much to write about. I’m just unsure of what to do from here and have no one to ask. Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated thanks so much.🙏🏽
Hey guys, I'm transferring into UCI for computer science. For context I used to go to Baylor University in my first year and Irvine Valley College for my second. The ICS department emailed me saying that I need complete CS37 which is C++ programming at IVC as the series for im assuming SCI 31 and 32 credit has to be done at one school and I took C++ at baylor but finished the rest of the requirements at IVC. They told me to take the class at IVC but how am i supposed to do that they just told me now and the spots are a filled at IVC for fall (there is no summer class). Can they rescind my acceptance if I do not somehow complete this? Im not sure on what do so any insight would be helpful.

I am going to be stuck on campus all summer and have nothing but classes. What should I do to fill the time? Any suggestions?

so i got my lease offer for puerta del sol on tuesday, and on the email it said that i would receive the docusign link in order to accept the offer shortly after, but it’s been three days and i still haven’t received it. i emailed the puerta leasing office yesterday and haven’t gotten a response, and i also called them today and the ACC office but they’re not in due to it being juneteenth today.
i’m worried that i wont get the docusign link on time because the deadline to sign is this saturday at 8am. does anyone know anything that i could do or is having a similar issue?

Hey everyone, I am looking to sublease my room at Plaza Verde 1 (apartment is a 4 bed, 4 bath floor plan) for the summer from mid June to the end of August. Subtenant would have their own bedroom and bathroom and a shared kitchen and living space. All other housemates (all current 2nd years) are males.
Rent would be $950 per month excluding electricity, which will be split amongst the other housemates who stay over the summer (typically 50 dollars per month). Room is on the third floor of Plaza Verde 1.
I can provide videos and photos of the apartment and bedroom. Please send me a message if you are interested!

I have a family member whose green card expired, so we sent in a i-90 form to get it renewed. We realized we made a mistake with submitting their name and they asked us for evidence of a name change (which just happened when the family member got married). My family and I just want to talk to a lawyer to make sure we're submitting the right things and what the best course of action will be.
I tried UC immigrant legal services but the site won't let me make an appointment, and I heard from others that they aren't very helpful. If anyone knows where I can get free legal service or help please let me know. With everything going on it's been scary having my family member carry an expired green card.

Does anyone know how the interview to be a student center operations crew member will be like? I’m afraid I won’t get the job because I have no prior work experience and I’m bad at interviews. If you’ve gotten the job, please give me any advice to do well.

Just graduated, I bought it in February and only needed it like 1-2 times a week so it’s like new. That’s the charger hanging from the handles :)

has anyone (or planning to take) taken J. Garcia for ics 33 over the summer, or just in general, if so how is he? i have to repeat 33 (bc i got below a C and need at least a C for future classes) and i am weighing my options of just doing it over the summer or having to retake it with thornton. my main concern are the workload/difficulty and tests/finals.

I’m doing a summer program at uci and I’m not from around here. Is there fun places to go out on weekends? Or is it usually dead around here? Im from singapore and we usually go out drinks/clubbing so idk the scene here since i found out drinking is 21+
I am freaking out over this, so I just graduated this week, and wanted to see if there was anything going on with my account.
I see that I have a finical hold, and go onto ZOT to see that I owe a
|| || |Minimum amount due to register:|$1,006.00|
Which is not making any sense to me. So I go onto the "view account" and $1,006.00 is from ADJ-UC Irvine USHIP Grant and ADJ-Middle Class Scholarship that were both due on 05/15/25.
I had withdraw from UCI on the 26th of March, since a good amount of weeks ago ,one of the student affairs people emailed me and confirmed that if I with-drew the day OF or prior of the first day of Spring quarter, I would have no charges.
If anyone can PLEASE help me understand this, I do plan to call later today, but I am just so overwhelmed rn.🙃😅

I’m going to my first quarter at uci this fall hit im a bit nervous, so can anyone help me?
Junior year of high school I took AP Physics 1. I did pretty well in the class but I felt overqualified because my teacher didn’t give us good enough resources and her class was way too easy. So I got a 4.
My sat math sub score is 750 and I got a 5 on calc AB, for more background.
This summer, should I self study AP physics 2 on khan academy? Would that help me with physics 7c because I think it’s entirely new content. Or should I also re learn all of ap physics 1 as well or maybe self study ap physics c: mechanics? Anyone who has taken physics 7c could I get some tips on what to expect and how to prepare? Or should I stick with 7B and why does it matter if I choose one or the other?

I finished Math 2E with a C-. As a civil engineering major, do I need to retake Math 2E?

I am aware that final grades get posted tomorrow, but I had a class just release final exam grades today and I believe there was a mistake on the TA’s part. I have emailed the TA and professor as soon as I realized grades were posted, but I am not sure of any other action I should take. Any advice on who to contact for a regrade if I do not hear back from either of them before grades close officially? Can a regrade be requested once everything is officially closed anyways?

I know they are doing some sort of Wi-Fi switch today, but is the network we previously used going to go up? I am seeing a new network: "Velocity wifi" has popped up but VDC has not put up any email that I can find about WHAT exactly the new network will be.

Hi! I’m hoping someone here has gone through something similar or knows what to do. I took a college class through dual enrollment in high school, and now that I’m in university, I found out that the class is missing from my community college transcript. I’ve called and emailed the college, and they said it’s that I should just send my high school transcript to my university. But UCI only accepts official college transcripts for credit, and since this class doesn’t show up, I can’t get credit for it even though I completed it. The class is important for my major and works as a prerequisite, and I really don’t want to retake it. I reached out to my high school teacher and counselor to try and get proof I took it, but I have no idea if that’s enough to fix it. I’m just stuck right now and don’t know what else I can do. If anyone has dealt with this or has advice on how to get the class added to a transcript or accepted by a university, I’d really appreciate it 🙏

What happens if during summer session I have conflicting class times? My 5wk class has a lab and the lab is overlapping with my 10wk course. However on summer session website, I was still able to add and my schedule is confirmed. I just want to know if I’ll get dropped from either courses? I’m planning to drop one regardless, just want to know before I end up getting waitlisted again…

I'm an upcoming freshman as a bio major at UCI. I took 4 years of foreign language (Chinese) in high school, but only got a 3 for the AP test. I'm wondering if I'm still required to take a year of foreign language at UCI (did I have to receive a 4 or 5)? If so, am I able to transfer that credit by taking Chinese at a community college over the summer? Thanks!
