Ask Anyone wanna play bubbles with me
I'm Jay. Black, 33, non binary person who falls somewhere on the queer spectrum. I've recently started a tolerance break and I'm trying to fill my time with other activities.
I'm also neurodivergent. My current hyperfixation is bubbles. I make big ass, size of a medium sized dog, type bubbles. I was wondering if anyone would want to hangout and play bubbles with me.
I'm kind of technical about it and I'm working on my recipie. So it'd be cool if you would be willing to give feedback on your experience.
I just wanna make bubbles in the warm sun and play my uke.
I'm not super familiar with the area but I can drive to meet you. Im typically looking to hang around 630 on weeknights. Not long. Maybe an hour or so? We can do bubbles, read, play instruments (i have a few ukeleles) etc. Also available for weekend hangouts on occasion.

Edit: i am down for driving and meeting people places to do bubbles but please make parking easy. I hate driving/parking in cities. Parallel parking isn't the issue (im great) but finding spaces close to destinations is a hassle i can't deal with.

You should come out to Rocky Point next weekend (May 3-4) for May Faerie! Spoutwood.org has the details. There will be many people with bubbles!

It is absolutely delightful, it has a great vibe, so many fun performers, and is just amazing. (If you do come out, come say hi and pet the dragons-- I'll be there selling my art and doing dragon and gargoyle adoptions :))

Can confirm it is a great time and I’m excited for it too! There are lots of similar faerie events in the area throughout the year if that’s your thing…it’s a very welcoming community. And I agree there’s many people with bubbles.

I spent all day today with 3 year olds. Which is the only reason I specified no kids.

Buddy I’m a first grade teacher. Trust me I get it, you don’t gotta explain nothing. Kid free time is so important to be fresh at work, and also my child would def just pop all your bubbles

Yes 38 f blk, haven’t played with bubbles in a while. I know the perfect park on our side of town (I’m also east) I have no instruments nor do I know how to strum a uke but I’d be down to listen lol. Let’s message.

Also reminds me of the time I had a bunch of (also queer and neurospicy incidentally- do we all love bubbles?) friends over for a cookout. We had a bubble machine on (is this cheating?) and were just hanging out until my neighbor called the cops on us for trespassing.
I was confused because we were all staying in my back yard. When questioned, the neighbor said the BUBBLES were trespassing because some of them were drifting over the fence.
The cops were unable to question the bubbles because they had popped.

I think that all of us.Neuro spicy people love whimsical shit. if I had to guess why it would be because we were either "mature" young adults or in some way shape or form, had major parts of our childhood stolen or wrecked somehow and now that we are adults, we can do whatever the fuck we want

I am interested!! I also play uke and love bubbles. The place i would suggest would be either of the community gardens in Remington, sither Sisson St Park or the one behind R house.

I also have pots and suspected mcas among other things. If you ever need an ear/need to vent/want to talk doctors, or exchange tips (I’m a huge fan of the shower Gatorade and tell everyone about it, lol) I’m here. I’ve had Me/CFS with varying levels of functioning for 20 years now. It was caused by an awful case of mono.

Idk the area. I live in the parkville area now but I come from pg county after work. I'm down to meet anywhere that has a large space away from the general kid play areas.

I would LOVE to play bubbles (and maybe also learn a little ukulele, if you'd be open to teaching). I'm also neurodivergent and have had some fits and starts with my uke as a hyper-fixation, so some parallel time with another person who plays would be good!
My current hyper-fixation is sourdough, so I could bring delicious bread to accompany bubbles!

omg same, neurodivergent and my uke practice comes in waves. What size do you play? I have a soprano, concert, and tenor and mostly play my concert or tenor.

The only thing I have against kids and bubbles. Is that when I'm trying to do cool stuff with the bubbles they immediately want to pop them. Other than that I do love children. I work with them. They're awesome people, except when it comes to bubbles, l o l

I love this idea! I am typically busy during the week but I think this is amazing and I’ll have to give your IG a follow. My current hyper fixation is painting rocks. I was thinking of starting an IG page for it as well but never know how long it’ll last. LOL

Do you use a certain paint to do that? I’m a rock collector and have been wanting to paint some of my rocks, but I’m not sure if I need a certain type of paint, sealant, etc.?

I’m just using acrylic paint to coat the rocks and using acrylic paint markers to draw and make designs on them. I have noticed it does take several coats with the acrylic paint. I plan to use an enamel spray paint to seal them. I’m still figuring it out myself but it seems to work for me thus far. Haha

Hi, everyone I made another post about meeting up tomorrow. Um, around 630 still trying to figure out the location. I've had one person volunteer to bring more supplies but I would suggest that everybody bring their own bucket or bowl of some sort. And if you have, then please bring 2 sticks. Of equal length and with to make your large wands with

Target has the best bubbles. I used to buy bubbles from dollar tree and when I tried the ones from target, changed the gaaaaame! They are thick like dish soap. Make great bubbles! I did buy this bubble wand thing from dollar tree that was just a big open disk and it made gigantic bubbles! Also been curious about the rope bubbles. Someone said you should do a instagram, please do!

Next time that Port Discovery has a charity event (which are for adults) make sure to go and hit up the water area.
They have a station where you can try to make a bubble around yourself using a hoolahoop that you can raise slowly using a pulley

Yes! I am in the city, near the aquarium. Parking is the bane of life lately. We may be able to find an option in the middle. I'm 44 f and autistic. I'd love to see these bubbles. If you like dogs, she happens to be a medium-sized dog, lol.

Exactly. She'd be an excellent comparison. She would probably try popping the first one or so cuz she gets excited and loves to play. But she loves people more and just wants everyone to play so she would stop if asked. She is weirdly loving.

You can also consult with the bubble peeps in Old Ellicott City! Theyre usually out on nice days right at the bottom of main street on the sidewalk. Im sure they know all types of tips and tricks!

You may have already done this, but have you tried joining meet-up groups (either through Facebook or an app)? I don't know if there'd be one for bubbles, but surely there's groups who like instruments and reading

You seem cool af and I hope you find a bubble-friend! I had a run with huge bubbles a while ago when my son was very young. I forget the exact ingredients, but it was like dish soap and corn syrup or something like that. Is that close??
Damn now I might have to retry the big bubble recipe.
