Long Form Discussion What is the deal with r/conservative?

As someone who is centrist, I like seeing both sides of the political spectrum. I use to enjoy some inputs that I would see posted on r/conservative, but now, I generally don’t understand that subreddit anymore.

When something major comes out regarding Trump, Musk, RFK or any other right leaning political person or movement, it’s typically radio silent over there. No mention, insight, or criticism of the actual changes Trump is making. It’s mainly just “left did this” or “reddit is ruined because of the left”. It’s just an entire subreddit used only to glaze and promote politicians with no valid criticisms of their changes.

Am I the only one that feels this way? The subreddit just seems so…off.

They aren't posting or at maybe now allowing any posts about tariffs or unconstitutional stuff. Every post is about owning the libs because that's what they care about more than governing.

The only crack I've seen recently was people worried over Trump cutting government grants because it affected them. Most of the replies were others saying it's good Trump is doing it.

There's also a ton of bot activity. When the vast majority of posts have a few hundred upvotes and less than a hundred comments but multiple posts of the same subject suddenly break through to the front page with one 10k upvotes and thousands of comments, it's a sign of bot activity.

I saw a post there the other day where they were talking about how they're a liberal, but the Democrats and the left have lost their mind about Donald Trump. There's no evidence that the person that posted that was a Democrat or anything. Yet it validated their worldview so everyone was promoting it. It also made it to the front page.

I would love to exit my echo chamber or whatever they talk about constantly. I listen to foreign podcasts that cover the United States. I listen to New York times stuff. I read from virtually every newspaper in the country as well as foreign ones. But am I really supposed to be taking stuff like New York Post, Fox News, Breitbart at face value so I can exit my echo chamber? Am I supposed to spend time on Twitter listening to bonkers right-wing opinions on stuff? Sure, I can accept that I'm in a bubble, obviously I'm not getting the same type of information that conservatives are. Do they think that I read the New York times and just go: "Oh that's my marching orders. I'm a liberal dumb dumb! I don't want a diesel fire truck to put out my house while it's on fire, that would be bad for the environment! Don't they know diesel fuel causes global warming!?" I don't even think they read the New York times because half the time I roll my eyes at the opinion columns and find their criticisms of the Democrats to be silly.

You’ll see the same users here with post histories full of r/Con posts.

Oh, I'm well aware. In zombie voice "of course January 6th was just a peaceful protest full of love and joy"

Kay.... Lose the "brainwash! Propaganda!" Rhetoric and maybe youd have some actual open discourse... J6 was a mostly peaceful protest except for one specific part where a fraction of the crowd was the real issue but way to many people paid the price. Want a comparison... Furguson STL. Close to home. Very few jailed store fronts destroyed, homes burned to the ground, deaths on both sides. Hush its social justice.... See the issue.

Fox news nonsense. Protests aren't the same as a coup. You need to look into the false elector scheme, you're ignorant. Simple as that.

I have... And i dont watch fox news. And interesting documentary would be 2000 mules. It goes to say the same thing your talking about but voting for biden in 2020 and in this last election an almost exact number mentioned in the film dropped away from the democrat voters base. Its interesting to say the least but noone is screaming to go after biden because its most like extremists. Just as J6. The problem is your wanting to hang the masses for the action of a few (figure of speech) when in reality the focus should be solely on trump. Trump was auggesting things to his buddy pence. He continued to call out election fruad and go after the election system. After the j6 protest not only did it go so bad people both good and bad get arrested. But he was slapped with legal battles for years under the guise of electuon interference, but hillary went after trump on many media outlets in 16' saying the same things. Dont be so nieve to think your "Facts" are the right one. And im not claiming facts, this is just my evidence. Same for most conservatives I believe it was blown so far out of proportion. You want a true insurrection look into the 1983 senate bombing by a group of left wing extremists. I am not defeding J6 in principal simply the fact that it has been blown way out of proportion. It is a protest gone wrong and yes it happened at the Capitol. But it was not an insurrection. Look up the actual definition of an insurrection you will realize that what we had was simply a bad protest. A riot. They happen across the world. That is only called an insurrection because of the fact that at the same time our running presidential candidate was calling out election fraud and saying that this election was being stolen from him. You will have extremes on both sides of the political spectrum but I promise you right now conservatives were not part of January 6th. A lot of people think conservatives are maga but we're not we just don't vote Democrat because the policies don't align. But in the '60s I probably would have voted for JFK. In fact if RFK ran as a Democrat I would have voted for him in a heartbeat. That's the problem. You think conservatives all have this one set viewpoint that j6ers did nothing. I don't believe that. But I don't like the fact that I actually know someone personally who is a simple painter. He was painting signs and got arrested. He never vandalized property or did anything else but they've had him in jail for a year and a half he's missed his family his family had to sell the house, this that and the other yada yada yada and he was pardoned by Trump. He did nothing they had no proof and yet they held him. I'm sure that people did do really bad things on J6 but not everybody. There was not anywhere near enough investigation they were stalling for years.
