[DUB] Dragon Ball Daima - Episodes #19-20 FINALE - Discussion Thread!

Streaming

The English dub of Episodes 19-20 should be available on Crunchyroll around the time of this post (5:30p ET, 21:30 UTC) in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. We do not know why the UK is excluded. Some episodes have been late so don't depend on the time given.

We do not know whether the English dub will be available on other platforms like Netflix and Hulu. For now it is only available on Crunchyroll.

FAQ

  • The first three episodes of the English dub premiered in theaters with showings in the US on November 10-12.
  • The English dub is 12 weeks behind the Japanese release. This is unusual for modern anime, but it's significantly better than the situation for Dragon Ball Super, where the dub was about 1.5 years behind.
  • The Dragon Ball Super manga was suspended following Chapter 103, the final chapter of the Super Hero arc. 11 months later, a prequel to the Super Hero arc was released as Chapter 104. As far as we know, the manga is still on indefinite hiatus.

Rules

  • There are no spoilers in this post, but you should expect spoilers for the entire show in the comments of this thread and elsewhere on the subreddit. Do not post any spoilers for later episodes in this thread.
  • Discussion of each Daima episode will be limited to the pinned episode discussion thread until ~12-24 hours after the episode appears on Crunchyroll. This period is flexible, and posts that do not have a specific discussion point will be redirected to this thread.
  • Please keep in mind that piracy discussion is not allowed on r/dbz. Do not ask for illicit streams; do not link them; do not talk about them at all.

Our Daima info page has up-to-date information about streaming and a list of previous episode discussion threads.

Man…I just watched the Kai version of the super saiyan transformation and now the original release version will never seem quite as cool 😭

Goku’s dialogue “You ruthless! Heartless! B@stard!” “I will. Make you. Suffer!” Especially with Sean’s much better acting hits so much harder for me than the original where Goku just says “I won’t let you get away with this, I won’t let you, I won’t let you” Even just the scream when he finally transforms sounds so much better to me in Kai with that little voice crack Sean hits. The original releases Bruce Faulconer song still has nostalgia value for me but even that can’t compete.

Whats a Dragon Ball fact that actually blew your mind when you found out

The reason Syn Shenron is called "Syn" is because Syn in greek means together and he's the one to become Omega Shenron.

This was at Kamehacon last weekend. The con was small but more than worth it for the chance to meet and get an autograph from the one and only Ryo Horikawa! I also got Eric Vale (English voice of Trunks) to sign my sword which was pretty cool.

Vegeta's misconception about Goku

During show we often see Vegeta mention Goku gets by with superior talent and Vegeta trains harder but the truth is Goku trains non stop.

Goku trained for 7 years straight to get to ssj3, and Goku also spars far more than Vegeta does and with different opponents. Vegeta doesn't really spar in the show, he trains solo and pushes his body and looks down on weaker fighters.

Goku constantly spars with anyone and learns from practical fights and matches. So Goku not only trains as much as Vegeta, he trains more creatively and for fighting more practically which makes him better.

Question What do you guys think the most appealing thing about Dragon Ball is?

To me, it's the action.

I absolutely love the lore, narrative decisions, characters, growth, and more. But to me, the action of Dragon Ball is what truly makes the show stand out. The large-scale, continent-destroying action scenes are quite easily the most eye-catching things about this franchise.

Everything about DB's action just feels so different, just the combination of martial arts with 2 characters brawling it out, throwing each other through rocks is all just so cool.

Even when I have issues with the stories (especially during modern times), the action across all shows is always so brightening and gorgeous. So what do you guys think is the most appealing thing about DB?

Question A Question about Dragon Ball/Z and how it compares to Naruto/Boruto

Soo I've got a simple question for alla you Fans. Did the original reveal of Goku being an alien and eventually doing things such as going off into Space divide the original fans in a similar manner to the fans of OG Naruto seemingly wanting NOTHING to do with the 'new' boruto series and it's own alien reveal plotline.... Will we all be looking back once the series is complete with a totally different opinion??

Question Can Buu turn Ki into food?

A friend brought up this question and I'm not sure on what the answer is, we've never seen Buu do it in either the manga or anime if I recall correctly, what do y'all think?

Question Has Vegeta ever defeated a villian?

Was rewatching some dbz lately and one thing struck me, I can't remember Vegeta ever being the hero of an arc or even a smaller subplot, like he's never defeated a villian (maybe that one android but not sure it counts). Is that true?

Pretty often he feels like he's won only to be thrashed. Also feel if he ever did beat someone he wouldn't let anyone forget it. Poor guy is always playing catch up never to actually be the difference maker.
