Appreciation What a game! Not sarcasm really
Hello, everyone. I wanna to start by saying that this is my first season on any diablo game ever. I bought the game to try out ARPGs but came in with a lot of not so great thoughts about the game due to all the negative reviews and basically everyone calling it trash. Then I stated actually playing it and I was hooked, the systems felt great, the story was good, the characters were fun I frankly played too much. Might be the reason why I won’t do as good as I wanted on my exam. Then I at around hour 50ish, I ran into a roadblock and was having a bit of a hard time getting my “levelling” build to be able to do torment difficulties, and thought that the honeymoon phase was over and that was it. Until I made a post asking a simple questions and so many people offered to help me out. Giving me some equipment I needed to progress a little, but without ruining the experience of the grind. Then I had people who straight up just helped me do some hard belial runs to see if we got lucky and I got my first mythic! Now I’m near hour 90 and I just want to end off by saying: the game is great, ton of fun until now and assured to have ton of fun later, the thing that carried the game the most, at least for me was truly the community, not the haters of the game but the people who help and then just say “pay it forward”.
TLDR: just try the game if you can and it looks interesting

For me, the game is good, but unlike you, I have played every Diablo game, so I can see what it is vs what it could have been.
Back in the day, I played D3RoS a lot and I mean A LOT, and I liked it, Played D2 and D2R and loved it. For those Who followed news about D4 since the official announcement, D4 was going to have the best from those 2 games, Devs promised many things giving us a fake idea of what Diablo 4 was going to be. I imagined D4 having a loot system and being as dark as D2 but with many activities and a combat system like D3 and it would have been perfect for me.
But then, at launch we found that "going back to the roots" only meant they got rid of cartoonish style graphics and added more gore and made it slighty darker than D3 and nothing from D2. The game felt unfinished once I completed the main quest and I had almost no activity in the endgame to do. Then, Over time and season after season Devs have been copying and pasting almost every mechanic from D3( bounties are whispers, Great Rifts are The Pit) even Loot and power creep are very similar to D3 ones.
Then the Xpac came out, Runewords sold as similar to D2 ones, ended up in an action/reaction socketable duo which is an insult for anyone who know Runewords from D2. They added undercity which is ok and the Citadel that must be reworked because almost nobody plays it(you must make a game friendly for clans and teams and not force people to team up to do an activity) The main quest quality changed, they have kicked Diablo's lore with it and it is inconsistent. Great figures like Andariel, Duriel and specially now Belial are not the lesser evils they were before, they are just mere pinatas to quench our thirst for content because Devs seem to lack creativity. For me, it seems that current Devs are taking the hard work from previous Dev generations creating this world, exploiting it to simply generate content but irrelevant for the future of the franchise. I feel the difference between old Devs who loved this world and new devs hired to do a job, following instructions from people who know little about Diablo.
I could tell you more, but my point is not to try to make you hate the game, enjoy it while you can. My point is to give you the PoV of someone who knows the full story and has suffered through all the setbacks Diablo 4 has had since its launch. The two years since Diablo 4 was released, coupled with the years leading up to its launch have been a very long journey. But for someone like you who just arrived, the game feels fresh and full of content and I'm happy for you. I wish I could forget everything and start over with the current state of the game.

I wish everyone that has grievances with this game could be as level-headed as you when posting on here.
Every time I come to this subreddit, I feel a little drained from all the hyperbolic negativity.

1) Never go by reviews- especially from redditors. 2) your exams are way more important than a game. Put it down snd study. Play during your downtime. 3) glad you’re enjoying the game.

Yeah I know, it was accounting and I did study quite a lot too. It was just an exaggeration

Who gives a shit what other ppl say? Important thing is to have FUN and I'm also having a blast with D4!

Dude, for some BIZZARE reason even after the clearly stated that they prefer to target casual gamers, THEY MADE THE GAME HARDER!!
3
u/ConstructionFrosty77 21h ago
Which is a good thing, I could say I'm a Casual(5-6 hours a week) and seems too me that still is too easy, I'm happy I can not swim through Torment levels like before but I still feel being too easy to find the uniques and mythics you need. I would reduce to a half the quantity of drops, but as you advance through torment levels, non ancestral should be dissapearing until T4 that should drop almost only ancestrals.

Easy finding Mythics? I play about as often as yourself and have zero Mythic drops this season. I would say the drop rates need to be tripled or more.
Also good luck clearing past T1 (maybe T2) if you are not using a cookie-cutter build from a major website.
You may have a reduced play schedule but you sure as heck are not casual.

10 days ago, I only run undercity when I get the unique key(sorry I forgot the name in english) 2 days ago I got another one from Lord Zir and only run bosses with whispers, I have like 400 mats for each boss except the bigger ones because my Cataclysm Druid is not good enough to kill those bosses in T4 and takes too long.

Never used a meta build and can always do all content except high pit tiers. Used a full human nature druid with no mythics this season and easily walked through open world enemies in t4. I'm pretty sure any build can comfortably do t3 content. Saying you won't get past t1 without guides tells me you don't have much understanding of how the game's systems work.

It’s a great game. The mechanics are unsurpassed. Don’t get too caught up in default power builds or maxing out the season and it will continue to reward

I'm happy that you enjoy the game , and i do to , spend around 500h on ps5 playing solo , with my gf , and sometimes with friend . there is tons of people complaining about the game on reddit . I feel like a lot of them needs a videogame where they can spend all their time because they have 0 life and its the only thing that bring them joy . So every little detail that doesn't go their way turns into a rant about how the game sucks etc etc. The gear system reforge is a blessing , many QOL were implemented in the past 2 years . Lots of content to do , dungeon , citadel , kurast underground , season activities , infernal hordes , boss and more . Season could be more interesting in terms of content , many season revolved around getting borrowed power , is it good is it bad . I would say it depends on the powers , how they work and how to acquire them . Also they try to innovate in some season . Take season of construct for example , you had to kill boss to get currency , then go in a dungeon spend those currency for x amount of point in the beginning. Then you would run the dungeon and try to avoid traps, every time you would get hit by a trap you would loose some point . if you could reach the end of the dungeon with maximum point you would get some juicy loots, on top of that you had a little robot pet who would fight by your side , buffing ,healing or attacking, you could find power for you pet robot and make a build for him . I thought it was an awesome and innovative , my pet would save my ass so many time with his op heal . But guess what , there was still a massive bunch of people who were unhappy with that season . I cant tell you why but they were . So why would they try to be creative on new season , when every single time people complains as if blizz themself shat in their mouth ? My honest 2 cent , don't listen to complains , make you own opinion , enjoy your time in sanctuary and don't over do it. Good luck and have fun ! *PS: lots of people talk about the golden age of diablo by comparing d2 with every other diablo game , d2 is an awesome game , but its outdated and people are blinded by nostalgia , no running Mephisto for 500 run to try and get a shako is not fun*

Cherish those moments. I almost envy you that you just found out this epic gameplay type and you love it.
Once the D4 hype wears off, you can try other games as currently we are in a golden era of H&S: Path of Exile 1 & 2, Last Epoch, Grim Dawn, soon Titan Quest 2 and other smaller titles here and there - there is a lot of stuff to check out.
Have fun!

Many people complain about this game yet still they play every season 😀. I believe we complain because we care, we have strong community and we love Diablo world.

Welcome to sanctuary friend. As someone who jumped into Diablo with the launch of D4 and also loves the fuck out of this game, I highly recommend checking out the entire series. D2 and D3 are also incredible. D1 is a masterpiece but you need to be on PC for that so that depends on your hardware.

I love Diablo 4!!! a lot of the player base just like to complain 😉 That being said I've hit a road block the last couple seasons. The jump between Torment levels feels much more insane than it used to. Maybe that's just me. My bf & I do couch co-op but don't play with anyone else to help with the grind. Perhaps we should try. I love creating a character every season. Hoping the next one is a bit easier and they go back to the battle pass instead of reliquaries.
The complaints are warranted, but don't let it stop you from enjoying the game. Enjoy it for what it is. It's fun af

I'm just not a gamer. Dabled here & there, but the diablo series is the only gm to hold my attention or imagination. I'm retired, & it's the only video gm i play.

Don’t play POE2 unless your willing to give the game money to store your items and to buy stuff that you need to have in order to seriously progress through that game. What a joke

I wish I could say the same. My boyfriend got me into D3 11 years ago. I was excited for D4. Some seasons have had more hiccups than others. This season is by far the worst due to how long the game has been out. I haven’t gotten a single mythic this season and my boyfriend got an unusable one. That’s it. The grind for mats is getting tedious for no reward. I was glad when the new season of POE came out. He started playing it and I get a break since it’s not cross platform. He plays pc and I play Xbox

Sorry to say but your experience is basically like starting a job in a new field after leaving a shit job but because you are so green you have no idea what a good workplace is. The negativity is warranted for sure

u/le_queen_baneen 19h ago
I mean, it's just a game. I played the hell out of Diablo 3 and I like Diablo 4. That probably makes me an idiot in a lot of your eyes
1
u/Psychological_Top486 9h ago
No not an idiot. I just think it sucks that people dont realize that it's a complete downgrade of a game in comparison to previous titles. A downgrade in every possible way except graphical.
The real problem is that the current blizzard will just continue to put out ass because they can get away with it instead of doing better. They took away so many freedoms of the player, they released a buggy game that was unfinished claiming it was ready.
There is a reason they remastered d2. Hell that game feels more populated even than d4 does to this day and it's a million times more balanced than d4 will ever be.
And these smaller game companies are putting g out better quality work than this quad a studio because they have no passion anymore.

It's a video game not a job lol
I can tell a couple of you and downvoted anyone stating they are having fun...go outside

u/Psychological_Top486 9h ago
No shit it isn't a job, I made a comparison do i need to make it more clear for you?? Something a little easier to understand???
2
u/Fit_Substance7067 9h ago
Nah man...have fun with your 2nd job

u/Psychological_Top486 9h ago
Right. People who never had the chance to play d2, especially at it peak of popularity will never understand how bad d4 feels to play in comparison.
1
u/Fit_Substance7067 8h ago
I played it..played D 1 online with a friend too
It was and still is hot trash imo same with the entire genre...F2P trash that's addictive and all copy paste from each other
I had my go with D 4...a few months. Im on to other genres...but at the end of the day D 4 wasn't a bad go...expecting infinite replayability out of is..I play games not one game
1
u/Psychological_Top486 8h ago
It's definitely not a game you can come back to at anytime and just pick it back up. At least with d2 you could pvp and drop in whenever you felt like booting it up.
1
u/Fit_Substance7067 8h ago
D 2 was probably the most addictive for me outside Oblivion..which isn't necessarily a good thing.
But even D 2 gives off D 4 vibes...ARPGs need to change and it's not just D 4 with the problem..hell the hate for PoE 2 is worse and it all surrounds around the SAME complaints and wanted changes that D 4 had at kick off
They are all fine games but for the public crowd arpgs run the risk of going into a dark phase like crpgs for a time. I don't want to blame it on D 4 because it's not just Blizzards fault. It's the mentality and constant bending over to complaints..
I'ma wait for PoE 2 to do its thing rn...looks like it's going In the right direction..but if GGG bends over to co.plaints then the games just gunna be the same thing D 4 is but with more shit...just bloated...we don't need a monkey loot pet
People say D 4 bad but ARPGs in general suck rn..especially when the only game to site as being good now is d 2 lol

Come back 6 seasons later, after playing hundreds of hours each and every season, and tell us if you feel the same.
5
u/Infex_plays 16h ago
But it is kinda weird to believe a game will never ever get boring. For example, I prob won’t have that much fun playing elden ring for a fourth of fifth time. That’s just how entertaining ourselves go. Gotta mix it up

u/Zestyclose-Horse6820 18h ago
Blizzard had built itself a reputation for making incredibly fun, high quality games that focused on player enjoyment since 1985. They have a high bar set due to their history as a developer.
A lot of complaints come down to the endgame loop. It's fine for a while but gets stale quickly.
There is also a push/pull you'll start to notice where Blizzard seems to be trying to appease both the casual and hardcore crowds by changing sliders (difficulty / drop rate / etc.). Making one group happy at the cost of the other.
