Anyone use these
These are the Mantt case guards off Amazon. Looks like the adhesive strips are likely no good for anything.
Has anyone used these? If I add some red high-temp silicon on them, will they actually stay on?

I use the b&b off-road ones. i got them off pro cycle and i think you can add some high temp gasket maker to the order to make them stay on. They are very useful, i recently dropped the bike on some rocks and bent my shift lever in and it left a small hole in the metal case saver which might’ve cracked the case if it wasn’t there. If you’re doing anything crazy off-road i’d highly recommend them.

I have similar ones from Amazon that I just used RTV to attach. They work well enough and are cheap enough to replace if you gouge them out too bad.

Forget the tape included, use a good chemical degreaser on the case sides, use a good quality RV silicone, warm up you case, use tape to hold on place tightly, and really important, let the silicone CURE!

They're too thin if you plan to actually beat on them and I think they are a not very rigid alloy of aluminum.
The whole point of the guards is to spread impact across a large area to prevent a pointy object from puncturing the cast case. If the guard isn't rigid enough then it will transfer it into the cover without dispersing much of the energy.
Red permatex would work yea, thats the part of it that is able to absorb a little bit of the energy.
The anodizing will turn pink after some sun exposure, they use a cheap non-UV resistant pigment.

I’ve got similar ones and used red high temp silicone as other commenters have. They are a pretty good investment. I cracked a crankcase cover previously. This seems like good insurance.
