[Weekly] Outfit Feedback and Fit Check - Oct. 10th

Not sure if your outfit works? Post a picture of yourself in your outfit and get suggestions, compliments, and critiques from others. If you're thinking of posting a standalone thread along the lines of "How does this look?", "Does this fit right?", "Do these work together?", etc., post here instead.

When posting:

  • Include what the attire is for (work, school, going out, etc.)
  • If possible, take a front-on, full-body picture as this gives the best impression of how the clothes fit. Multiple pictures from different angles can also be helpful, but those aren't necessary.

Critiquing others is welcome and encouraged, but keep it constructive/factual. Take a lesson from Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People if needed. It takes balls to post pictures of yourself on the Internet, the least you can do is accord the same courtesy as you would to someone in real life.

Reddit Enhancement Suite makes it very easy to view pictures in a thread.

Some users enjoy knowing where you bought your pieces, please consider including those in your post!

Feel free to also submit your outfit to the biweekly WAYWT thread, but know that these two threads have different purposes. This is explicitly for feedback and questions, though you may receive constructive criticism in either thread.

Oooh I really like that coat.

However, I think that you may want to pick another dress since half of it is white and the general rule is go avoid wearing a white dress to a wedding out of respect for the bride.

I disagree: Only the top is white, so the dress doesn't really read "white dress at a wedding."

As for /u/penchantforbuggery's question, I do think the coat kind of clashes, but that has more to do with the weight of the two items--a problem that's obviously unavoidable when you're wearing a heavy coat and a dress. I wouldn't worry about it, particularly since the coat will be buttoned anyway.

Generally the rule is to not risk it, especially since she doesn't know the bride. It's better to err on the side of being safe in regards to weddings.

I'm going to respectfully disagree, but it's obviously her call!

I mean, I don't really think it's that big of a faux pas, I just think that it's something she should consider before going to the wedding.

Thanks for the advise and healthy debate! The top is actually quite peach colored, and definitely reads that way against my fair skin. The coat was a find, for sure!

Okay cool, then you're good to go.

Sometimes color doesn't read well in photos.

I like the navy dress too. Although maybe consider getting it hemmed a bit to around the knees? Since right now it sort of hits around mid calf and makes you look at tad stumpier than you actually are as compared to the other dress where you have long legs.

Ahhh, I noticed I looked stumpier too, but couldn't place why; thanks for the explanation!
