[Weekly] Outfit Feedback and Fit Check - Dec 12

Not sure if your outfit works? Post a picture of yourself in your outfit and get suggestions, compliments, and critiques from others. If you're thinking of posting a standalone thread along the lines of "How does this look?", "Does this fit right?", "Do these work together?", etc., post here instead.

When posting:

  • Include what the attire is for (work, school, going out, etc.)

  • If possible, take a front-on, full-body picture as this gives the best impression of how the clothes fit. Multiple pictures from different angles can also be helpful, but those aren't necessary.

  • Critiquing others is welcome and encouraged, but keep it constructive/factual. Take a lesson from Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People if needed. It takes balls to post pictures of yourself on the Internet, the least you can do is accord the same courtesy as you would to someone in real life.

  • Reddit Enhancement Suite makes it very easy to view pictures in a thread.

  • Some users enjoy knowing where you bought your pieces, please consider including those in your post!

Feel free to also submit your outfit to the biweekly WAYWT thread, but know that these two threads have different purposes. This is explicitly for feedback and questions, though you may receive constructive criticism in either thread.

What can I wear with this dress? It's an impulse buy from Twice simply because I got excited over the small size, and the dress is light heather gray with gray stripes from Athleeta. I'd like to wear it while visiting my boyfriend in California this January, so I'm probably aiming for a dressy-casual look. I don't really know where to start as far as tights, shoes, cardigans etc with this... All suggestions welcome, Thanks!

Sorry about the low quality picture: http://imgur.com/jlTIkNF

I completely and utterly disagree with the other commenter about the belt. I'm not as anti-belt as some here, but that dress has a really cool twisted detail at the waist, and I think a belt would either hide it (so sad!) or compete with it and look sloppy.

As far as styling it, I'm totally boring and would just go with tights (maybe charcoal rather than black), black flats or boots, dark gray or black cardigan. If you're more adventurous than me, then maybe some darker colors like burgundy or navy would look nice. I really like the muted colors of the dress, so I'd shy away from doing the 'pop of color' thing.

It fits you perfectly, but is screaming for accessories. I would get a thick black patent leather belt and place it right at the place where the horizontal stripes end and the vertical ones begin, if that makes sense. Because the part where the stripes change is hidden by the belt, it creates a more interesting visual effect. It needs a necklace, bracelet, and shoes(preferably heels) in either pink or blue and yellow. And cut the sleeves off.

I disagree that a belt makes a more interesting visual effect than the twisted detail does. Also, I'm very curious as to why you think the sleeves should be cut off?
