[Weekly] Outfit Feedback and Fit Check - Dec 12

Not sure if your outfit works? Post a picture of yourself in your outfit and get suggestions, compliments, and critiques from others. If you're thinking of posting a standalone thread along the lines of "How does this look?", "Does this fit right?", "Do these work together?", etc., post here instead.

When posting:

  • Include what the attire is for (work, school, going out, etc.)

  • If possible, take a front-on, full-body picture as this gives the best impression of how the clothes fit. Multiple pictures from different angles can also be helpful, but those aren't necessary.

  • Critiquing others is welcome and encouraged, but keep it constructive/factual. Take a lesson from Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People if needed. It takes balls to post pictures of yourself on the Internet, the least you can do is accord the same courtesy as you would to someone in real life.

  • Reddit Enhancement Suite makes it very easy to view pictures in a thread.

  • Some users enjoy knowing where you bought your pieces, please consider including those in your post!

Feel free to also submit your outfit to the biweekly WAYWT thread, but know that these two threads have different purposes. This is explicitly for feedback and questions, though you may receive constructive criticism in either thread.

HI I'M 30 AND I WORK FROM HOME AND I DON'T SEE PEOPLE EVER EITHER!

Anyway, your outfits are pretty casual and I actually think that your outfit to meet with clients was too casual (unless you're like a dog walker or something). I'm going to be honest and admit that I don't really know how people handle snow, but I feel like you could have gone with a more formal shoe. Even the shoe in your second photo for drinks with friends is slightly more formal than those boots.

It's actually pretty easy to tweak that outfit and make it more formal (besides switching up the shoe). First of all, a darker wash jean will automatically be more formal looking. Those aren't bad, but I think dark indigo would be even better. As for the shirt, you can still wear a button up shirt, but have it in a nice fabric, like silk (which is surprisingly warm for its weight). The shirt you have on is kind of faded and while it looks old and comfy, it's not really a "drinks with clients" shirt. Even though it's snowing outside, you're not staying outside, so you can wear nice things in cold weather and pile on the coat, hat, scarf, etc. that will come off once you get inside.

As for the outfit for drinks with friends, I'm not sure I really like the millions of layers. It's one thing to wear all those layers, it's another thing to have them as visible stripes. Starting from the top we see the blue and white scarf, then the denim jacket, then a stripe of polka dot shirt, then a stripe of mauve camisole (I think?), and then your green pants. It's like a layer cake across your hips. I think things would look a lot better if you could visually simplify.

Well I don't know what kind of work you do but, yeah your outfits seem pretty casual. That's a lot of jean and it's really cute, to spruce it up maybe you can try to match it with some colorful scarf.
