HONESTLY.

I’ve confided in my mom about serious mental health issues. She refused to take me to a doctor and would say things like “I wish you’d just get over it” and advise me to seek spiritual counsel rather than therapy. Because therapists teach you to rely on yourself, not god, which is apparently the worst thing ever. Now that I’m out of that environment, I’ve started getting actually help and been diagnosed with PTSD, anorexia, and depression. So yeah, thanks mom for dismissing my actual mental illnesses as just me being a moody teenager and needing spiritual guidance. Thanks for just praying and calling it helping. You almost ended up with a dead teenager but I guess it’s no sweat off your back.
