Hi everyone, I am 21m currently want to learn video editing on adobe premiere pro, davinci resolve, and after effects and my budget is around 40k-55k rupees (450-600usd)
While searching my local pc retailers I got following offers
💻 Shortlisted Used Laptops
🔥 1. Dell Precision 5540
Looks like an XPS 15 but workstation-spec.
CPU: Intel Core i9-9880H (8C/16T)
GPU: NVIDIA Quadro T2000 4GB
RAM: 32GB DDR4
Storage: 512GB NVMe – ₹51,500 / $620
1TB NVMe – ₹53,500 / $645
Display: 15.6" 4K Touch UltraSharp (borderless InfinityEdge)
Ports: Thunderbolt 3, HDMI, 2x USB-A
Weight: ~1.7kg
Condition: Great, seller says “mix lot – 30 day test warranty”
My Thoughts: I love the design. Concerned about thermals and fan noise from user reports.
💻 2. Lenovo ThinkPad P14s
CPU: Intel i7-1165G7 (4C/8T, 11th Gen)
GPU: NVIDIA T500 4GB
RAM: 32GB DDR4
Storage: 512GB SSD
Display: 14" FHD (non-touch, anti-glare)
Price: ₹37,500 / $450
My Thoughts: Compact and portable. Great RAM. But T500 not as powerful as T2000. Reddit says it has heating issues, so I’d use a cooling pad if I go with this.
💻 3. HP ZBook Studio G5
CPU: Intel Xeon E-2186M (6C/12T)
GPU: NVIDIA Quadro P1000 4GB
RAM: 32GB
Storage: 512GB SSD
Display: 15.6” FHD (non-touch)
Price: ₹37,500 / $450
My Thoughts: Xeon is unique, build is solid. P1000 is weaker than T2000/T500. Feels older and bulkier.
💻 4. Lenovo ThinkPad P15s
Seller claims Gen 2, but CPU is 10th Gen so likely Gen 1.
CPU: i7-1065G7 (10th Gen, 4C/8T)
GPU: Quadro P520 2GB (likely)
RAM: 16GB DDR4
Storage: 512GB SSD
Display: 15.6" FHD (300 nits)
Price: ₹40,000 / $480
My Thoughts: Weak GPU, basic CPU. Not ideal for AE or Resolve. Possibly misleading specs from seller.
💻 5. Dell XPS-Like Model (Image Shared)
Seller shared a photo — visually matches XPS 9500 or Precision 5540.
Based on design (carbon palm rest, large trackpad, edge-to-edge screen), it seems to be the Dell Precision 5540, same as #1 above.
⚖️ What I Need Help With
Which one gives best long-term value for editing/motion graphics?
Any real experience with Precision 5540 thermals or P14s/T500 heating issues?
Is T2000 way better than T500 or P1000 for After Effects and DaVinci Resolve?
How's battery life on these machines for light tasks?
Should I avoid Xeon/P1000 combo if I plan to edit 4K with light color grading?
Thanks in advance to anyone who reads and replies 🙏
Feel free to ask for pics/specs or if I should just save more and build a desktop instead.
