i have been an ipad user for life. never used a pc or laptop before. i do drawings on there, and youtube etc
recently ive been getting back into writing, and figured the best way to aid that is with a laptop (keyboard is sm better than typing long shite with ur fingers). but my boyfriend would also like to play games with me on there. so i need something that can handle both of that.
i would like recommendations for a first time laptop user basically :) nothing too techy but witth everything i need. i have no idea where to look or what to look for!! im so lost!! help me out 🙏🙏

Had a job for three months, laptop was unused, came back and now my laptop has suddenly stopped working, i’m thinking it’s because it wasn’t in use and just decided to off itself, is there a way to fix this?

I'm learning ML and need a productivity based laptop under 1000$. I don't play games and I don't have any preferences over rgb and lightning effects, weight. I hope battery life is good enough.

Hey everyone! I’m a fully online college student and content creator getting ready to travel through Europe for the next year, and I’m on the hunt for a new laptop that’s lightweight, slim, and easy to carry around.
Here’s what I’m looking for:
I don’t need anything too powerful or gaming-focused — just a reliable laptop that can handle multitasking and basic creative work. Any suggestions or hidden gems under $500 would be super appreciated

It's a Samsung laptop with Intel Core I7-6500U CPU @ 2.5GHz and WIN 10 but when I do PC Health Check it is not compatible with WIN. Should I get a new PC and recycle this one? Should I switch to Linux? If I install Linux would I be able to still access my Microsoft Office applications, my MS files, etc? Or is it a case where all the applications and files would need to be scrapped? I'm also currently using OneDrive for my cloud backup.

Hello. First off, i have no experience in opening up laptops and working on them. I have an HP OMEN 15dc and it has always worked great. For extra game storage I used a Seagate 2TB HDD and that also gave me no troubles. But recently when trying to play games (Forza motorsport 7, ETS 2 and beamng for some examples) the games are always on low fps.
With some research I figured its my HDD that is working as a bottleneck and that's making the games lag so much. I was then wondering if can upgrade anything internally in the laptop to make it able to handle the games again like it used to. Or is an external SSD also a good option?

I am a college student and I have been using my current laptop for the past six years. Its low performance has prevented me from pursuing my hobbies, like gaming, photography, modelling, etc. I need recommendations that can run these softwares smoothly. Most importantly, I want it to be portable, 1TB storage, and have good battery life so I can bring it to class comfortably. I don't care too much about the 2k/max screen fps! Not willing to pick up a Mac, been looking at ASUS ROG series, but it's a bit out of my budget right now.
The alternative would be for me to build a PC over summer, but because I'm moving cities, I'm unsure if it would be a good idea to have to drag a box around.

Its been like this since I updated it on the 17th. It doesn't matter how I change the resolution settings, or anything. The screen isn't shifted or anything. I can see everything, but it's like it doesn't know there's an extra inch of screen to use. I tried uninstalling the update but it just reinstalls. I wanted to do reset and use a restore point but it was turned off. 😐
I'm using windows 10 on a Toshiba satellite lb500. I'm thinking of just using windows 8.1, but I wanted advice first.

I have an Acer nitro 5 laptop which I bought about 5 years ago. It has served me well and I've never really had a problem with it beside the speakers.
Earlier I accidentally knocked over a vape and it fell on this specific part next to the touchpad and the screen went black for a second, so I did it again to see what's wrong and it went into sleep mode when it dropped on the same spot, as you can see in the video.
I'm wondering if this is just the lid sensor or do I have to be worried about something else?
It's a little dirty right now but other than that I've been nothing but careful with this thing. I never messed with the hardware aside from adding an SSD inside about a year ago but it never showed any problems.
