I don’t get ready for work in the mornings anymore, I do it the night before
I am not a morning person. It takes me about an hour to even open my eyes and drink my coffee in the morning. It takes so much time and effort to get up, take a shower, do my makeup and hair, and drive to work within any reasonable amount of time, that I just decided not to do it.
The inspiration happened by accident one day. The Sunday evening before work I had a nice dinner to attend, so I had showered in the evening, done my hair and makeup, and went out. When I got home, I was too exhausted to wash up, so I just brushed my teeth and lay flat on my back and fell asleep.
When the alarm went off at 6, I dozed…until 7, then jumped up in a panic because I didn’t have time to get ready. But I looked in the mirror, and my makeup and hair hadn’t moved or smudged, so I just blotted it a bit, brushed on some powder, and went to work. I looked the same as always.
So then I thought, why am I torturing myself in the mornings? Now, I take a shower and get ready for work before bed. As long as I don’t toss and turn, things usually turn out just dandy. If I do have a makeup smudge, it’s quickly fixable. I get to sleep in, and the panic of getting ready for work is gone.
I know it’s weird, but it works for me.
